Revolutionary Girl Utena 08

Am I supposed to empathize with Nanami because she sucks at pranks, like some evil dojikko?

Wait, they're really doing the Freaky Friday thing? I thought the preview was a joke!

Standard sitcom procedure in effect; just do whatever caused the personality change again and they'll change back!

Persistent elephants, those.

Aha, Saionji's such a tool.

...really persistent elephants.

At least Saionji didn't have any dignity left to lose.

Yeah... no. Probably not even as good as Queen's Blade Rebellion. Objectively.
lol. Sad.

Pretty much every single facet of it is better than any new show currently being discussed in this thread, by a sizeable margin. Not that that says much considering the quality of current shows.

How is... the direction objectively good? I've been noticing that 'objectivity' is being thrown around a lot lately in here, and it's not making any sense.
I can't go into full-detail on the strength of the direction in E7 (since I haven't watched it in years) but it's all about the use of shots such as length and type of shot they use throughout the narrative, that differentiates good direction from bad direction, it's really the question of "how" they execute it, then the why, and in E7 case, despite what you might say from a writing stand-point, it's extremely competent from a direction stand-point.

Then again anyone who compares the direction of E7 to queens blade, clearly has no idea what he is talking about when he uses the word "direction", which is what bugged me initially, since the guy said the "direction was bad" just because he didn't like the show *shrugs*

You have to rewatch this episode as soon as you finish the show.

Blood C 7

Dog shops
that grant wishes. Welp. And yes, Saya, it's guimauve, congrats. Also, how the hell does she keep fighting with chopped shoulder blades?! Must every small cut gush like a river?! How did the samurai's HUGE swords make tic-tac marks?!
It is now that I ask these questions because, dammit with these stupid habits, Blood C just ain't gonna stop!

Blood C 8

Umm, Tokizane, it's one thing to see her bleed from a paper cut and ANOTHER to see one in a pool of blood while saying, "Oh thank heavens you're safe, I need little explanation!" and of corpse, the love proposal.
Welp, lil' munchkin asked that
health regen
question for me...and didn't answer it.
Yeah, when giant monsters slowly walk towards my building, I just stand and watch too!

I call one billion gazillion gallons of blood being shed by season's end.

Saya, give up, you already suck
at keeping the (protect everyone part of the) promise
, might as well drop it.

Man, Ben Frank was right, this couple were yawn Except for
dat school invasion.

As "bad" as they were (stupid by design), the first two seasons of Queen's Blade were surprisingly competent.
Elaborate. I'm thinking you have no idea what the word direction means because the things you are saying now are pretty laughable.

Competent is not a compliment, btw.

Of course not.
Me neither

Rinne has better character designs and backgrounds than E7 ;>

At least Pierrot had the wisdom to spread his torture throughout a few days. Why the fuck are you marathoning this!?

See I think thats almost more offensive than what he said!

But then again I think Kenichi Yoshida is flat out one of the best character designer in the past decade of anime. A background/minor character designed by Yoshida is better designed than your average lead in most other shows I think.

Eureka Seven 1

This was a pretty good episode, Renton is easy to sympathize with, the animation was great, and Eureka is cute, definitely a good start to the series.

I like the pirate design, even I never watched something Queensblade related. But more girls in pirates costumes are not a bad thing

Indeed, this will be worth watching just for that, considering Marika in a pirate outfit is the best thing to happen this season.

I dunno, something about his character designs bother me. I can't pin exactly what it is but it's something. They're not bad at all but just that something that bothers me. I think it's the eyes. I'll figure it out one day.

He's no Yoshihiko Umakoshi, that's for sure.

An acceptable response.

Much preferred to "so shit even queens blade is better!"

Competent certainly is a compliment, considering the surprising amount of incompetent folks in the industry. And I know very well what "direction" means. as I once prepared to study just that at the HFF Potsdam. Military service got in the way, though.

Write a essay or go into full detail on why eureka seven direction isn't as good as apparently queens blade : rebellion, in that case then.

Of course not. But I mean, in the off chance that the 4th season of Zero no Tsukaima or Highschool DxD, or even Symphogear is better, Ill gladly take back what I said.

That's a disingenuous selection of shows - few people in this thread are watching them and even fewer praise them. You know there are shows such as Chihayafuru and Natsume's Book of Friends airing currently, right?

Eureka 7, Bakemonogatari, and Baccano! are the best directed TV anime of the last decade. Maybe something from Yuasa (Tatami or Kemono or Kaiba) as well since he's an excellent director too.

Truth.

This post is like specifically designed to kick up pizzaroll's blood pressure.

Bakemonogatari? Well directed? :lol

Sorry, but you need more than one or two actually well directed episodes to make a show well directed. And Yuasa is an artistically competent director but his shows are unwatchable due to how they look down on and insult the audience.

I'll just go ahead and praise DxD for being good, stupid fun. I wouldn't exactly say it's well directed, though.
