In the film,
Shawn says they're not thieves as the maid states, but they just borrow.
. That is untrue. By definition, they steal. I was not questioning the proper noun "Borrowers", just teasing it as they are thieves by definition.

Ok, I understand what you mean now. You're saying that regardless of what they call themselves, they're actually theives. At first I had thought you meant that the writer of the film made a mistake in using the term Borrowers, as opposed to the thieves.

Eclair has a Lipstick Whip. Clearly the show was so good that you have a firm grasp of the character names!

Oh shit youre right, I meant Eclair >_
Lumiere can control electronics with her touch.
I dont know why I said Lumiere honestly.

Also I haven't seen the show in years, but talking about it now makes me want to revisit it soon.

You mean you haven't seen it yet?
You must right this wrong ASAP.

I'll even let you put Ultimate Girls on hiatus to watch it :)

That alone is reason enough to watch it!

So, what is Kiddy Grade actually about?

THe G.O.T.T (Galactic Organization of Trade and Tarriffs) has several divisions of enforcement based on rank (gradeS) at the bottom, Kiddy Grade, is Eclair and Lumire. they enforce various laws in the galaxy normally, but they get caught up in some conspiracies and politics. there are lots of pseudo-mech fights with higher ranking characters and some other neat stuff. Each member of the division has special powers of some sort.

So it's a magical girl mecha show?

You could say that. but its really not mecha. Eclair and Lumiere use a special ship called the LaMuse and a little robot called wirbelwind. Other members have similar robots, but they arent really mecha as you think of the traditional mecha.

I'm already watching too many series as it is, but I might toss it onto the backlog.

I really should watch Arrietty sometime.

You should, nice film with generous pacing.

But there's already an anime about a midget that deals in equivalent exchange; do you want Ghibli to be accused of plagarism?

*gasp* I would neeever...

Speaking of Ghibli, thinking of trying Only Yesterday next.

That's generally how I felt about it. I think people get caught up in the scale of it all. it's pretty great but not the second coming like some treat it.

Personally one of those, "First half was cool" peoples. Second half was eye-roll worthy EXCEPT FOR
the galaxy fighting near the end, I respected that with much hype.

I'll be honest, I have only seen about half of my Gurren Lagann set also. I stopped to watch other things. I haven't seen how awesome it gets.

Finally. This episode is this show's equivalent to Madoka's episode 10. I only had to endure 8 episodes of teen melodrama to get there, but we finally have lift off.

Guys, how would you like a Steam like service for Anime? I mean its the same basic idea as the Real/Quicktime/WMP-Windows Media Center without the ickyness. I know they have to work out the kinks but at least it will be a spring board.

I disliked practically every character change and plot change in the second half of the show.

I hear ya Envelope. I hear ya's.

Thats disappointing, however I did buy the series, so I may as well stick to it. I might enjoy it more, who knows?

I KNOW!
...I don't know.

Just have fun with it then, man. Penguin Drill to the heaveeeeeens, etc!

Hmmm, is there nothing like that in existence? Or do you mean more aesthetically/visually functioning like Steam?

So similar to crunchyroll?
It was a joke based on the running gag that everyone in FMA makes fun of how short Ed is :p

I should have gotten that. :(

Sailor Moon ✔

Oniisame e ✔

Finally time to watch Utena...

Think of it like this. All you have to do to arrive at Utena is watch Rose of Versailles (40 episodes), Oniisama e... (39 episodes) and Sailor Moon (200 episodes) and then you're there!

It's easy really.

(Best to start now).

I hate you so much right now.

All that Kozaki talking earlier reminded me that I've been sitting on this series for a long while. I gotta say, it's not bad. Generi--stoic, badass wandering ronin, meets traveling parteners, etc...etc...--and produced so very cheaply, but the characters seem like a lot of fun, and the story's blitzing from the first ep; have to appreciate that. Sunrise also did Kozaki better than Gonzo did, ten-fold. Which is to say that it's nowhere near one hunnid percent, but that's basically me asking for him to animate the whole show himself.

I was eventually going to hit Utena as well.

These pre-requisites are disheartening!

Edit: Oh, only for influential weight? I'm saved!

Actually, Ikuhara had involvement in Sailor Moon, so you still have to watch the bulk of the prerequisite episodes, ahahahahah.

I hate you so much right now.

There is no established order for experiencing the path to Utena. I'm actually doing it backwards, having watched Utena first and now Sailor Moon. If you watch Rose of Versailles just to enhance your Utena experience, you'll only end up fatigued by the time you finally get to the good stuff and unable to properly appreciate it
but totally let me know if you ever marathon it so I can too
.

The link between Utena and Rose of Versailles isn't nearly as direct as with Oniisama e. Oniisama e is also a much better show.

I'll check them out later.
That's some really long series.
What are those two shows about?

Sailor Moon is some magical girl show that isn't important

Oniisama e is an all girl private school emotional political roller-coaster melodrama
This show nearly destroyed me a few times. Too much drama!

Rose of Versailles I'm not sure yet.

Just watch Utena.
And then watch Penguin Drum.
Throw in some Sailor Moon sometimes. Problem solved.

Ok Oniisama e sounds like something I'd be interested in.

Self-proclaimed Hipster points earned!

Actually, we're probably the hipsters for finding critical value in something that's mostly enjoyed by little girls
even though there is actually tons of critical value and entertainment for all ages.

I really need to find the energy to marathon more :(

I HAVE seen the live action. It is glorious. and the production budget was astoundingly cheap. At one point they cut Luna's eyes in half to make her change expressions.

That was an amazing moment. I'm going to finish the first season before I resume the live action, though.
