Black Rock Shooter is pretty horrible despite some of the character designs being kind of cute. I'm mainly watching it to see how much it falls apart. It's kind of entertaining that way.

I wouldn't even recommend BRS to someone as a sick joke. I kind of feel like I need to take a nerve pill now.

BRS is not exactly fun, but it's not mind numbingly boring, its just awful. so that puts it on the level of other boring but entertaining shows. It falls far short of things like Code Geass, and it's very short, which limits its trainwreck possibilities, but it's way up there in the clusterfuck region.

Oh come on now. Aren't you having fun?
BRS is exciting and dramatic!

Okay, you got me. I'm just jealous that I can't be a cute Japanese schoolgirl with an exciting life full of friendship drama and a mostly-naked alter ego that blows shit up with a giant gun :(

Princess Jellyfish 3-11 (end)

Somehow everything about this clicked with me--I bought the drama, I enjoyed the comedy, and for some reason I found the prime minister hilarious any time he went into giggling fangirls mode and either called someone -pyon or asked to be called -pyon.

The inevitable romantic angle came up, but never really dominated the parts of the storyline the anime covered.

Well the show did just kind of...stop. Like, in the middle of a story arc. Ah well, it wasn't popular at all, unsurprisingly.

Those kinds of lists are always being published though. Its nothing new or indicative of a slow news day. It just kind of seems like something that everybody does.

Top X lists are just behind porn and lolcats in terms of centrality to the purpose of the internet, so Crunchyroll is doing what any site does; they just happen to be stealing Japan's lists instead of bothering to make their own.

Madoka is a hell of a fun series, that's why people like it. now as for why it's on that list?
Now that I don't know. It wasn't really influential. It did some strange things with the genre and definitely engaged more viewers than the typical magical girls show, but how did it change the industry?

Madoka, Gundam, I feel that these two titles had about the same impact.

Oh, wait, shit, I'm falling into their trap. Dammit.

Confession: Madoka's popularity blows my mind. I can't at all wrap my head around why that series is so popular.

Because SHAFT.

I actually didn't like it nearly as much as I thought I would before it started. I was hoping for a more conventional magical girl show, just with shinbo-shaftiness thrown into the mix. Oh well.

Well, the results to the poll in question are a combination of recency bias, the usual treating of polls like popularity contests regardless of purpose or subject matter, and some correct answers. While Madoka is certainly not one of the top 30 historically influential anime, it's not necessarily more wrong than any of the other questionable choices. It was at least significant for the year it came out and had, I believe, record high blu-ray sales for a televised anime.

what, Gosick is not well liked? Gosick was awesome. It had some awesome hats and hair styles.

I enjoyed it, mostly for the cute factor I confess. Plot-wise it's kinda lifeless/boring.

I enjoyed it. Had an issue with some parts of the ending, but didn't stop me from getting through it. Can't argue with the lifeless complaint for the most, it definitely goes there.

Blah blah blah d e c o n s t r u c t i o n

Yeah, it was daring in what it did, in a sense, and I can dig that, but idk; To see such the turn-out for it--pop lists, sales--it's a channel I can't understand at all. This is just me and my disconnect though--no critique to the series.

You nailed it right there.
But also, Bakemonagatari had huge sales and was a fairly unique series, but I am not even going to pretend it was influential to anything other than otaku fap material.

Thing is, with the sales they pulled, they have to be influencing some decisions.

Ultra Super Pictures amiright?

Black rock shooter is what happens when the biggest hacks team up, shitty staff like Yutaka Yamamoto+ordet (from fractale fame), imashi(known for crap like grurren laggan, panty & stocking)+ trigger made up of ex-gianax staff and script by mari okado ( from ano hana fame).

Hope they stay together from 2 reason

1. This there most enjoyable show yet
2. Too keep them contained to 1 show , to stop them from contaminating other stuff

It was entertaining and a bit different. People respond to those things...plus magical girls are awesome. It had that cute but still bad-ass/weird aesthetic that I think appeals to the anime viewing crowds (see BRS OVA). I know that in retrospect I don't like it as much as I did while watching it, but the whole thing sucked me in and I had fun.

Well, Nise exists.

To think a new episode is comng out today.

But while I'm waiting for that time to chow down some Guilty Crown, only 2 episodes left, only two episodes left only 2 episodes left, only 2 episodes left, only 2 episodes left, only 2 episodes left, only 2 episodes left.

This is exactly why Ano Hana is in the ANN top ten.

You weren't around when it was airing?

Cause if you were the answer would be plainly obvious.

It's way too soon to put it on something like a most influential anime list though. Far too soon. I think the only recent show on that list that maybe has a case is Haruhi.

Make sure to brush your teeth so they don't rot afterwards.

While I don't want to imply that the only metric for influence is being copied/ripped off/etc, I don't know that any show has attempted to ape Bakemonogatari either visually, narratively, or otherwise. Three years after airing, it's still regarded as fairly unique.

I do wonder if we'll see any Madoka-alikes in the next year or so.

I can't even see the Imaishi influence in BRS. His style is pretty instantly recognizable and if the action scenes actually had an Imaishi feel to them, I'd happily suffer through the rest of the show just for that.

I was hoping someone had watched it so I could at least read impressions while waiting to see it later. Im so curious of how the penultimate episode played out. I wonder if this is the last time we will hear The Everlasting Guilty Crown since I cant recall in anytime when an opening theme played in final episode of an anime of this caliber, its gonna be emotional hearing it for the final time.

"Hey Arnold!" did wide faces long before madoka.

Instead of thinking about shit shows like those, you should be anticipating the first episode of Ozuma airing in less than 24 hours. Spring is almost here, folks!

Haha, that's true. I was just thinking that we've yet to see the deluge of ghetto offshoots, if we ever will.

Yeah, I can echo this.

I was, I just wasn't paying attention or much into it. Which is probably the simplest explanation there is. I finished it, but slowly. Still, trying to understand what it was that worked as well as it did in there has been fun.
