Yeah, you're right. Geez, I thought Mind Game, Tekkon Kinkreet and Genius Party were all from then. Were they always this small or does their reputation just precede them? In my brain, their output was always more quality, less quantity but at least on par to Madhouse and Production I.G....

Studio 4C is a small studio which focuses on both creative productions and cash-in collaborations. They fund most of their operations by working on coordinating and producing stuff like Animatrix, Gotham Knight, Halo Legends, Thundercats, etc. They also do quite a bit of animation for various videogames. They also produce a ton of short animations, commercials, music videos, etc for various companies.

They're nothing like Madhouse or Production IG at all. Those are big businesses. Well Madhouse was a big business. Now it's soon going to be a dead business. :)

Why is the anime industry in such dire straits sometimes? :(

Studio 4C makes some amazing animated shorts and collaborations. Definitely check them out.

They did Tweeny Witches and Mind Game in 2004. Nothing in 2005. Tekkon Kinkreet in 2006. I don't see how they have shrunken from that...

Tweeny Witches is a vastly underrated series. Mind Game is what you make of it. you guys know what I think of that one.

So that's Emiri Katou's PV for Shiranui, eh? Works well enough. Hopefully Akune's is next. With where the manga's heading right now, I'm excited to see how it all turns out.

Another great episode, though the pain, grief and suffering in this one was on a lower level compared to other episodes, yet Yomi
regaining her memories and, in doing so, suffering,
was bittersweet and deliciously so.
The action scenes were pretty nice as well, thought punches near the end were a bit on the :lol side of things.

Btw, for those curious, they have credits specifically for the "2D" Other World parts in Ep7:

Animation Director - Mai Yoneyama
Key Animation - Megumi Kouno, Mai Yoneyama
2nd Key Animation - Ryouji Masuyama

They're grouped with the Sanzigen staff, and I'm pretty sure it was still composited at Sanzigen, and had no in-betweeners.
Who exactly remains at GAiNAX now? Even the young rising stars have fled! There is no future...

They have been churning projects at a pretty steady pace, little collaborations mainly. Many want to forget some of their bigger and more recent ones like First Squad, though, so this is why they give that impression.

More like what happened to GAINAX after Gurren Lagann? It's like their blew their budget on it and never made an ambitious project again until Panty and Stocking, which is divisive to say the least. Are there internal problems in GAINAX?

I want another Kare Kano again...

I'm not sure what i should feel after watching this episode.
I mean, i laughed while Inori was saying her stuff about Shu. I was laughing while Shu was saying his stuff about Inori.
And the fight between Shu and Daath in a way was cool, although nonsensical for certain things but, other than that? Nothing, I feel nothing. I'm not even disappointed a stray bullet hasn't killed Haruka yet.

This only has one more episode, right?

GC should have been the 8 episodes show while BRS TV should have been the 22 episodes show (well, no, but an 11 episodes show would have been better, more suffering for me to enjoy).

So I brought my blu-rays of Yu Yu Hakusho over to my neighbors house, and they love it! We got to the Yusuke vs. Guy with helmet fight in the Genki tournament. My neighbor calls it Yo Yo Hakushocku.

I also brought over FMP:Fumoffu and they really liked that too, the one neighbor liked it better than YYH. He hasn't seen a lot of anime.

Yes, both BRS and GC end next week. Then the week after that, they are announcing 4 new noitaminA shows, 2 for Summer, and 2 for Fall. That also confirms that both Apollon and Tsuritama are 11 eps each. :(

I guess that also confirms that the summer and autumn shows are single-cour as well.

It shouldn't adversely affect Tsuritama hopefully as it's anime-original, but I wonder about the pacing of Apollon - that's just under a volume of manga an episode, I believe?

Talking about 'cours'... there hasn't been confirmation on the exact number of episodes for the Saint Seiya Ω series, right?

Nope, but I'm sure it will be 50~ episodes long; that's what almost everything on the Super Hero Time block runs for, anyway.

Only 11 eps? :-/. Oh well, hopefully that means they'll be paced well.

LOLOL now I regret not watching this last night! That's fuckin' hilarious! XD

Huh. This episode was actually good, and not just decent or plain bad. Fun action scenes and explanations - I like them.

Shu: "Inori's the one person who was by my side the whole time, believing in me!"

Hare : :(

Inori was there when Hare wasnt, fortunately never there when it actually mattered.

BRS ought to have just remained an one hit wonder OVA, apart from a cool gif, theres been nothing of joy from that anime.

If Apollon has to be 11 episodes (sigh - maybe we can at least hope for 12), it doesn't have to adapt the whole manga, especially since it's ongoing. Wandering Son found a good section to extract from the manga that felt relatively complete in itself.

It looks like an early digital anime from 2002ish. Not sure why it gives me that vibe.

Aside from the animation (which thankfully is not as awkward as early digital was), the character designs look to be in an older style.

Oh man I was hoping Apollon would be a 24 episodes series since they are adapting a manga with 8 volumes.

I wouldn't assume that they'll be adapting the whole series. It's more likely they'll find a good stopping point for an 11 episode series.

The Light of El Cantare
I'm totally digging those kinda-retro character designs in Mysterious Girlfriend X. Definite watch just for that.

Ooba turns out to be a big bad villain in the style of Bond. He's got the over-elaborate lair:

He flashily chucks unwanted people to the bottom of the sea:

(Warning: disturbing)

After, um, that, he proceeds to insidiously prey on Rei and Yuka's fears in order to get them to transform. This links the Flesh Eater transformation not only with the sexual urge previously focused on, but with repressed emotions more generally. This is also an element of Kazuma's subplot; he becomes unable to repress his Flesh Eater side as his feelings of inferiority come to the fore. With barely any humans left at this point, this show seems to be trying to show how lurking just under the surface of each of us, hidden to maintain the facade of conventionality, is a persona of rage and violence.

The fight scene towards the end had seriously impressive animation.

Why was anyone anticipating more than 11-12 eps for Apollon anyway? Including GC, only 4 noitaminA shows have run more than 1 cour.

Seems a safer bet to assume 1 cour and then be pleasantly surprised if it happened to be more than that...

Another Episode 01

Dat eyepatch moe~

The atmosphere definitely comes off as pretty unsettling with the ambient background music aiding in that. The premise seems interesting enough to keep me wanting to see where the story goes so I'll keep watching this. I'm not sure what to think of the whole concept as of now. It don't think the underlying story could be as obvious as the preconceptions I have in mind by what's being shown so far but with these kind of shows I can never tell sometimes. I guess I'll wait and see and enjoy the ride till then. I did enjoy this episode overall though. And man, that ED is really nice.
