Winter 2014 Anime |OT| I've got to find a dandy guy who killed my dad in the space

It's a show about a WWII battleship crossing galaxies to recover a device to resurrect an entire ecosystem dude.
It's also paid for and foreshadowed in advance, not to mention consistent with the rest of the show.

So is everyone else who died on Earth revived?

I'm getting a feeling Funimation quietly creeping up on (cheaper)Aniplex status soon with certain releases. Viz seems like they might be following a similar path as NISA and who knows what Sentai is going to do.

Yeah, you can see Funi trying out these super deluxe releases though I think the different with Aniplex as Funi usually has a longer delay with stuff.

Viz does seem to be actually coming back and releasing special editions for their releases again. Then again, I usually assumed with Viz not even doing releases.

Sentai will probably keep charging a lot for their barebones releases as usual.

I can't believe I actually used to buy anime from FYE. Now I know better.

Only thing I've ever bought from FYE was when they had the Last Exile DVD box set (w/ mousepad and Alvis figurine) on clearance for $20. I love that series.

I'm still a sad panda that the blu-ray release got canned.

Suncoast owned my wallet. Or a vast percentage of it.

Ha! I remember pre-ordering Dragonball Z VHS tapes from them when I was a kid. Can't wait for those Android Saga videos.:(

did you end up getting FAM?

did you end up getting FAM?

I did, actually. I liked it. Not so much as the original, of course. But I thought the series was enjoyable, and the soundtrack above average. Though it was obvious they were attempting to recreate the brilliance of the original series OST while never quite getting there.

SPIT IT OUT, YOU TWO

Lots of boring "meaningful" talking in this episode. At least there was some Kon. And it looks like there might be action next episode. Won't get my hopes up for anything good then.

Detective Conan 272:
Megure with the solution, even if he needed some hinting from Conan. That's rare enough, so it's worth celebrating. The case was a pretty strange one in general, as it's very unusual for the culprit to only be introduced after they've already been figured out, but it worked for this particular case (and the two episodes were really more about Jodie being suspicious and Ran being clueless about romance related stuff).

And then that ending scene with Vermouth. So good.

Suncoast owned my wallet. Or a vast percentage of it.

Yeah, I spent way too much money on anime DVDs (and VHS before that) at Suncoast back in my high school days.

NOOOOOOOOO, after the Suzu-tan arc I was hoping they wouldn't try to make it an action show anymore. It was so bad when it tried, but when it was Persona Social Links the animation it was entertaining.

:/

LOL paying list-price. But there weren't a hell of a lot of options at the time.

There really wasn't. At least for me, the options were go to Suncoast which had amazing selection, go to Best Buy which had crummy selection, and then there were a handful of anime DVDs in fye located along with the porn and wrestling tapes. At least circa 2002 or so, those were the only real options available where I lived.

Things improved a lot after that when more online options started popping up and I actually had a card so I could order things from the internet (plus trips to conventions helped in that regard). But there was a good chunk of time where $30 at Suncoast was the best option.

I can't imagine what buying Anime use to be. It also seems to me the old model use to include tons of extra (physical items) compared to now

I actually agree with this. I don't care for the shonen action aspects. I'd rather just watch a show about magical kids who nutted the fuck up and told each other the truth.

Yes, because you blaming yourself over actually acting on your feelings instead of playing the silent game with the other two dimwits is bad.

Should have just kept your mouth shut and waited until they confessed to each other because your just the third wheel and never tried fighting for your love.

Fucking Bullshit.

And why does Haruki get no repercussion after last episode? Spends like two minutes in a bed saying sorry before the skip to see him ditching Setsuna. Someone should have at least knocked him down with a good punch to the head.

Siiiiiiiiiiigh

Not even trying to say I'm a patron either, since I'm actually okay with how it ends. Yes, Setsuna is alone in her room, probably crying her eyes out and Haruki really doesn't deserve any goodwill after these past two episodes. But Touma is happy and I'm like finding it hard to stay mad after seeing that smile of hers.

Almost curse her for being best girl.

Crap, I really need to get around to watching episode 13 of this. I kind of completely forgot. This pretty much echoes my feelings on this episode, though!

This person seems to be... popular.

Hi Cajun, nice to meet you :)

Mushishi Special

This was great. It was twice the length of a normal episode, yet felt so short. The Soundtrack is as beautiful as ever, the scenery is even more detailed and... green! I don't know if I can wait another 3 months for the next season.
I need more Mushishi! Now! >_<

Nice to meet you as well! Welcomd to animegaf!
*hands you a penguin

cajun says he's from louisana... but his up and down times makes more sense if he's on the ISS right now or something.

Oh Im certainly Louisianian lol. My sleeping pattern isnt one lol.
I just sleep when I run out of squee energy. Literally.

After reading the synopsis of what the second season might be, I'm going to pretend the show ends here. All that melodrama is too much for me.

As it turns out, Touma is actually a robot assassin. Setsuna sacrifices herself to save Haruki, at which points Haruki turns into a hermit, train for seven years, and then comes back with superpowers. He fights Touma, but at the last moment Touma activates her nuclear self-destruct mechanism, destroying the world.

Thankfully, many schools in Japan still have lead paint in the walls, protecting the school from the destruction of the world. Society begins to reform around these schools, and the Kiryuin family begins to rise to dominance...

I was relatively happy with the end, both the anime end and the VN end. Much better than the trainwreck I expected and what tends to happen with anime of this sort. And I was a bit surprised two pretty obvious paths were never used (one of them being a dopey fanservicey end).

What an anticlimactic ending to the first (and possibly) only season. People who complained about the season finale of Attack on Titan should watch this to see how good they got it!

What's the current word on a second season for this show?

The show ends with a grizzled buff bearded Haruki, one arm now entirely mechanic, looking down on the apocalyptic japan from a hill. He glances at a nearby woman being attacked by a group of zombie mecha thieves. But as he approaches the scene to help out, he realizes that the woman is actually an evil Touma clone. Also the thieves are Touma clones as well. His mechanical arm transforms into a chainsaw/shotgun as an 80's bass starts playing in the background. He then softly whispers

"Hey mecha Touma SHOTGUN!
It's a nice day to start again.
It's a nice day for a WHITE ALBUUUUUUUUM..."

The show fades to black. AOTY.

With Aniplex rereleases are kind of a given because that's the way they operate. They push out what is essentially a quickie before releasing a more localized box set. I wouldn't exactly count on Yamato getting a rerelease even within the next few years because it's being published by a bunch of nobodies who don't realize they have to negotiate with rightstuf and are putting out press releases like this:

anime fans rekt in response though.

Wait, what's happening with yamato publishing? This is criminal negligence or something, right?

What made it worse was the clip show of stuff that would happen later. -.-

hoooooly shit.
I guess Koko has a good reason to be clingy though. Just DAMN.
Linda looks great in this episode. But despite Koko being scary levels of dependent she is still an adorable sweetheart.

Hamatora Episode 1

Hamatora PI agency with these minimum holder users is a unique and fun premise. The agency situation itself with just a nice mix of friends feels like a family right off and all are easily warm and welcoming with their own quirks and unique personality. I cant wait to see what other duo and trio setups are used as we go further specifically I would want to see BIrthday, Murasaki and Nice team up and maybe some Nice and Birthday as well and at one point some Nice and Art which ought to be a good one (and for them isnt that Valvraves Haruto and L-elf duo by voice actor grouping).

Birthday is a favorite Nice too, and then everyone else is good. Looking forward to more and great colour design and usage for Minimum Holder moments. Final one with nice was quite mindblowing.
