Alright, Minori already appeared since the first episode, but the left is Minori, who, after going through this entire series, still ranks as one of the most adorable people and things in the franchise. And on the right, is Yuuko. Unlike HapCha Yuuko, who is considered slightly chunky, but isn't chunky anywhere

Other than that, Mai is still pretty awesome. Helping out a baseball team through the power of observation and drawing. I mean good lord, talk about awesome. The Baseball team also has an interesting history, mainly that it constantly loses the first round each year, compared to Verone's Lacrosse team, who has a reputation for having a great team.

goddamn, this was a pretty depressing episode. Tomoya lost all joy of life to his job and can't even have fun with Nagisa ;_; I miss it when this anime was about their hijinks as high school friends. Now he doesn't even meet his friends.

I'm paying a bluray premium for best quality. If I wanted "good enough" or was willing to settle for ignorance, I'd buy $4 used dvds.

Okay, stating the BDs being brighter was my bad. I should have stated subpar video/bitrate compared to the Japanese Blu-rays. I don't see most Blu-rays as a premium, as BDs are usually only $5 more than the DVDs, unless the BDs are part of a "limited" edition release which is still not much for domestic releases. I am trying to respect everyone's opinions to anime purchases and other anime related activities, but I will admit that my ignorance to some of the subject matter discussed on AnimeGAF is lacking.

Futari wa Pretty Cure RE: Splash Star 4

Everyone has different ideas of what Spring is, and Not-Fujipi thinks spring is like frogspawn. Why are you better than FujiP? Oh right, because you actually have something worth admiring.

Have to give props to Curry Pan, he actually attempts to divide the Cures up after 4 episodes. And then got called out on his joke. Again, for the "boring" villain, he's rather entertaining. The more I rewatch this, the more fond I am in regards to the soundtrack. Sounds great, no reused music as far as I'm aware, and frankly, it pretty much gave me a main gripe about HappinessCharge Precure. Fresh Precure and onwards generally reuses music, but the degree that HapCha has been relying on Doki's soundtrack when it comes to fighting is just.... eugh.

Ruka is a boy , knows that he is a boy but was raised in such a way ( by his father ) that led to this result. He also want to be manlier but doesn't take the right step to do that thanks to his dad & okabe influence.

There are 3 reasons why the "want to be a girl" sub plot took place. First , EVERYONE agrees that given his appearance it's a total waste for him to be male ( even okabe ), second , it was to show the semi -random cause & effect of changing the past. Also i don't understand why ruka is not gay since he has affections for okabe. in the game while you need to undo the d-mails , you can enter "her" route

Third this was not shown in the anime but DAMN his dad raising him like this certainly helped him to reach this conclusion.

It's my opinion , but you're overthinking this , ruka is certainly not the strongest in term of narrative in steinsgate but her role doesn't go beyond all of that was shown ( notice how ruka role in the main plot could be easily replaced or forgotten ? ) so yeah ..best to not think that much about him

A) Maybe this was explained better in the game than in the show or it was covered very early on (I watched the show over several months) but are you saying Ruka's dad raised him as a girl? What kind of parent raises their child as a gender opposite their sex without said chil's expression permission/desire?

B) Its a total waste for Ruka to be a male because he doesn't look like one? WHAT! There's no right way to look like a male or female, that shouldn't have any bearing on the character's gender identity. That's some shitty rationale/writing on the show's part and I won't accept it >_<

I dunno, the more I think about it the less this makes sense. I kind of want to chalk it up to "LOL anime" and shitty writing :/ Such a shame.

Now that I'm about halfway through After Story, I gotta say, it's so much better than the original Clannad. The way drama is introduced or handled isn't that much different so far, but it's more subdued and less silly. Not to mention, the production values somehow jumped a lot in quality and the use of music became much smarter.

Basically, After Story is the type of anime I would associate with KyoAni level of quality, while original Clannad is just a mostly forgettable adaptation that any studio can make without any effort.

Ruka being like that is a direct result of his dad influence. As you saw in the anime she want to change ( being manlier as his own words ) and okabe answer was to make him swing the "divine sword of something" 100 times or something..

Also parents raising a children as a member of the opposite sex or telling them to act as such ( for whatever reason ) is not something that should not surprise you .

It's present in some anime for a while , some examples include tokyo ravens or shugo chara or oda nobuna or dangan ronpa (4 exemples on the top of my mind and i could go on with this )

B)
Also it's a waste yes... as i said before you're thinking about this key point too much ... As it stands , ruka does the perfect yamato nadeshiko role yet this impression crumble once people know ruka gender , hence why people think it's a waste or a missed opportunity...it's not about the fact that it's true or not , it's just the impression people get from it.

In steins gate , when kurisu learns about ruka "real gender" ( before they sent his d-mail ) , her reaction is a simple "how is that possible" and this is the same reaction she got from everyone aside from mayuchi & okabe ( but okabe kept his reaction for himself ).

In other words
You mustn't mix "what ruka wants" , "what ruka is " , "what ruka experienced" ... All are a part of her character and it's certainly NOT a simple case of somone who isn't at ease in her gender, it's more than that.

There really is no priority to those other shows, the priority is Log Horizon -> Phi Brain -> Build Fighter. After I've caught up/finished those I'll look into the others and see which if any jump out at me, I'll probably finish them all but Kill La Kill, Log Horizon, Phi Brain, and Build Fighters were always my big 4 from the fall.

I caught up on the One Piece anime in 2012 in 6 weeks when it was around 550ish episodes I feel I can watch another 14 episodes of Log Horizon by Saturday.
