Winter Brawl 8 Fighting game tournament February 21st - 23rd

Yeah, unless it's something special like a curleh mustache, AE is a more interesting teams game than marvel generally.
I personally don't care for teams in any game unless its like a properly constructed team for an exhibition. For example, Socal vs Nocal 5v5.

This whole team tournament is just "let's stack our team with the 3 best players" like what EG is doing scooping up Gamerbee. It just feeds into the whole FGC grouping thing. It would probably be more interesting if they randomly assigned teams... that way you would have more interaction among players who don't socialize with each other on the norm.

yeah team eg/Justin is anti hype but I generally like teams when the stacked teams aren't playing.

They lucked out that the tournament did not fall within the last three weeks and the crazy ice storms.
That would not have stopped Big E at all; hell Summer Jam one year happened in the middle of a hurricane. An ice storm wouldn't do shit (until the power went out). It was snowing pretty hard on the last day of NEC and that didn't really matter (although that made going out for lunch an adventure).

Actually it would matter because thanks to those ice storms, 1.7 million people across the tri-state area were with no power up to a week. In terms of power being out and trees being knocked down, it was worse than Hurricane Sandy. In the Philly area, that Hurricane was just a stronger storm, it did not affect the area as much as the NJ coastal lines.
I personally couldn't stand being without power for hours yet alone days or close to a week.

That would be a cool idea.

Team tournaments aren't for stream monsters.

My idea for randomization is actually for the players there. A lower level player might get to interact and play alongside a top player with a unified goal. Hell they might learn a thing or two.

Stream monsters only care about seeing the best of the best and for that purpose the current method is fine.

It gets disappointing when you're seeing a low level player.

it's definitely not serp, it's some guy named "epic fail"

serp is from south america, can't remember which country though

edit: colombia, apparently

Oh yeah that's right, I completely forgot lmao I'm bugging. But that team is so damn good holy shit.

Agree w/ the commentary, I am not hyped for Ultra right now. Combination of things. We'll see though, the timing for the release is right for me to get interested again.

No one who enters a team tournament wants to get paired up with a scrub. Get real.

havent seen diemionn play marvel in a long time. ANybody have thoughts on X/Strange/Morrigan shells? Maybe with morrigan switching to her DP assist to help strange out? I don't know how she is as an anchor, but maybe nova/strange/morrigan could work out.

Yeah, team tournaments are fun to watch, dahbomb is just bored because this is no marvel.
I already said I don't like team tournaments in any game.

Except for specialized team tournaments like region vs region (like Canada Cup). This whole "stack my team with 3 best players at the venue" has always been uninteresting to me.

Not that team tournaments even matter. Its not like there's an EVO for this... its just for fun (and give more money to the top players).

Well, used to be that quite a lot of games played at toukegi were team tournaments. And it was pretty hype. :)
I miss tougeki. :(
