Winter Brawl 8 Fighting game tournament February 21st - 23rd

The FGC doesn't believe in banning characters. Adapting is the only solution in this community.

Pretty sure tournaments will ban a character if a game just came out and a single character is broken in some obvious way, but yeah mainly no.

Sentinel before the patch and Phoenix were broken in a lot of ways back in MvC3 but no one banned them. Sure we cried patch but banning was never a serious option.

There are only a couple of banned characters that are banned because they are broken, most of them are boss characters, like Ivan Ooze, ST2 Akuma etc... but Kokonoe was the only non boss character was banned because she was above and beyond the rest of the cast easy, and inescapable resets in the corner that allows her to kill in 2-3 combos that you can't stop at all.

TL;DR: FGC only bans mainly boss characters, besides BBCP Kokonoe

Has Kokonoe actually been banned for SCR yet? I haven't kept up.

Also, didn't Alex say they were going to ban Spinal at SCR because of a game breaking glitch that pop ups up playing against him sometimes? That's another, kind of obvious, example of when a character would be banned (or when a exploit would be banned like the Quicksilver thing in Marvel).

Aren't bosses kind of out of the question? They are purposely designed to be utterly broken but are playable so the player can have fun.

Not always. Sometimes boss characters aren't all that strong, and sometimes the players decide that the boss characters add enough variety to justify being used anyway. Also, in more recent fighting games, boss characters have a reasonable version that can be used in VS mode.

You are right but I was talking in a general sense. It's nice that companies are making bosses reasonable in versus mode.

Oh, I see. Well, the general rule is that anything goes until it drags the entire game down, so playable bosses are put in the same category as any other character until they start to centralize the game. It's been that way for ages, really. They're mainly there to mess around with, like you mentioned, but sometimes they're just too fun to leave out of tourneys or general play.

Was watching stream on the PC upstairs fine... came down here, and not one twitch stream will even load for me. Anyone else experiencing issues?
