I'd guess it'll be an alternate ending for the series, if the promo material so far isn't just a big troll. There's no way it'd be the actual ending though, considering how it'd mean the manga covering the same material afterwards, which just wouldn't make sense. The image of the city and space terminal destroyed kind of reminds me of the false ending from season 3 too.

If it does turn out to be an alternate ending by the series creator, I think it's a great idea. So many series waste movies with pointless one shot stories. Giving resolution to the series' story with great movie animation, written by the original creator, would be really nice, even if the franchise itself goes in a different direction later and makes this movie invalid.

I was watching Wolf Children earlier and I couldn't help but laugh that the old man who helped them with the farm was basically an animated Clint Eastwood. So tsundere.

While Cure Sword remains to be my favorite, that's not gonna stop me from calling her out and saying she was a total jerk in this episode. Here's hoping that Mana has the will to melt this girl's frozen heart. On another note, this is probably first Precure season where I'm fine with all ships including the main character. ManaxRikka, ManaxAlice, and ManaxMakoto all have an appeal that works. Woot for perfectly shippable leader!

Eh, they can continue the anime just fine afterwards and ignore the movie, like it's always done with the usual anime movies. The point would be that the movie would hopefully end up as a better standalone work if they take that route. Although, I'm just bringing this up because the marketing has mentioned that it's the final chapter or whatever. Unless it's just another troll, it seems like they're going for that (considering how the manga currently isn't in any kind of final arc).

I don't think it's a cost issue, but simply a production one. It is good to expect the episode director to take charge of the entire episode personally, from storyboarding all the way to voice recording. From an artistic point of view, it gives the individual more responsibility, and also more creative freedom.

I don't think anyone has any idea when or why Toei stopped this practice, or at least no longer made it a requirement, but I'll guess that it has to do with how they're working on more and more shows, and it becomes harder to maintain tight individual production lines for each episode in modern production. There's so much outsourcing and parallel production that maybe it makes more sense to just get storyboards done way in advance, and then assign episode directors who are available when it's actually ready to go into production.

The end scene with the villains didn't make it clear that they know that Porun holds the power of the Prism Stones, but I really don't see how they can't know that at this point. I mean, screaming and projecting light and giving Pretty Cure this awesome new power...yeah, I don't think I could respect them much as villains if they aren't able to determine this. And then they just decide to go ahead and summon Dark King at the end anyway, despite saying they should wait til they have the power of the Prism Stones first. And that CG queen...fuck I hope I never have to see that abomination again.

I also want to say that I'm getting pretty tired of Nagisa's recaps of the events of the previous episode.

As far as Nagisa and Honoka are concerned, it's almost a good thing that the villain dude came and knocked Akane out. She was sure coming onto that something was up. But now they can just chalk it up to a trippy dream.

Also regarding the witness always getting knocked unconscious to hide their identities, that happened a lot in Sailor Moon too. Its so convenient isnt it? :D

Speaking of bad animation, was it me, or in the scene near the end with the three baddies, did it seem like the environments looked straight out of a comic book or something? They seemed to have really bold black outlines. Was pretty jarring.

Watched on an iPod Touch so I didn't take any screenshots though. And I don't really have the where-with-all to go back.

Oh, since I didn't get to rant about it in the thread, I'm gonna rant about the 3DS apparently not packing in a charger when you buy the system. Seriously, Nintendo is so hard up for cash that they make you buy a charger >_> Not even Apple has nickel and dimed me this badly.

In retaliation, I bought a 3rd party charger and a 3rd party case. Since I am behind a year or so on games, I am also gonna buy used games from now on. That will show them v(&#65507;&#1044;&#65507;)v &#65394;&#65396;&#65394;

Really? There was a charger in my 3DS box.
Then again that was Christmas of 2011, so maybe they've stopped. Which would be total bullshit, I agree.

Edit: Japanese 3DS doesn't come with a charger? The fuck?

Quick Zeta thoughts-

It was a lot better than the OG series. I thought the battles were fairly well animated and there definitely seemed to be more of them. I do think the battles lost their punch somewhere in the middle but the finale did somewhat make up for it. I loved the jazz soundtrack and it added some class to the show. I wish more mecha shows would use sexophones in them. The main story was alright although it was a bit too black and white for my tastes. I did have issues with a few of the plotlines, not necessarily from plotholes but rather characters being idiots. The Newtype magic also got a bit ridiculous near the end. On the note of the characters, I actually liked Kamille at the end. You can really tell he's changed and not necessarily for the better. This is one show where I almost want to say the lead is a worse human being than how he started the show. His character development certainly was handled fairly well and was a highlight of the show. I did hate a few of the female characters though for being overly needy and they were definitely the lowpoint, Sara and Reccoa can go to hell.

Oh and the grand shootout location, outside their mobile suits, was perfect. Absolutely perfect.

Only 3DSLL doesn't come with the charger, I think the basic 3DS does.
