Another episode of talking about whatever zzzz

What the hell, it's been TWO whole episodes without even a damn card being shown. Where are your priorities show. I'm not watching this for the story and definitely not for the characters.

back from LA. Whats animes I miss. Has spring started yet?

Been watching some dude play im@s. And people complain about precure cg endings? The dance things are shit in this game o_O.

Setec Astronomer
The two female leads compete over the main dude with science. One is a cyborg that does mechanical science and has a bunch of nifty robot stuff, while the other accidentally got merged with her pet dog as a kid and does biological science, so she has all these strange creatures, many with tentacles.
So basically like deciding whether to be bit by a vampire or werewolf.

I wish more Gundam was like this. I like the personal feeling the show has. No ridiculous mobile suit fights but something more intimate.

Did we know this info already?

The Summer anime Fantasista Doll which is being produced by Toho and supervised by Goro Taniguchi (Planetes) has announced that the main character will be voiced by idol-seiyuu Ayaka Ohashi last known for her work in E7AO. (And I guess some character named Lance in Doki Doki Precure)

The summary of the show reads like Idolmaster Xenoglossia to be honest. The main girl, Uzume, gets a card which when you call upon the data inside, summons a "doll".

No word on the sequels "Striker Doll" or "Goalkeeper Doll" yet.

The Light of El Cantare
Splash Star 04:

happy (early) spring everyone

Splash Star isn't so bad yet, actually. It's still a pale imitation of Futari wa but it's at least cohesive in the execution of its seasonal theme and just has sort of a breezy feel to it thanks to all of the nature locales, the comically incompetent villain, and the use of a supporting cast who largely just feel like normal people. The supporting cast was also a strength in Futari wa, but these personalities seem to work especially well with the tighter and more informal nature of the community in Splash Star.

OK, I know I'm kicking the Hyouka discussion beehive here, but this is not a good image. Putting aside the obnoxiously overdone lens flare and the off-kilter for off-kilter's sake camera angle, the lines are just a mess. Our eye goes from the helicopter in the distance to Oreki's head to solar flare to the giant distorted bike wheel in a series of increasingly larger circles, and rests upon this bike wheel as the most important object in the frame because it is the largest. Now, this might be some very meaningful bike wheel, but as it is framed, it looks like an object awkwardly deposited into the image. If we instead decide to trace a line by following the gaze of the figures we get this crooked line from where Chitanda's head appears to be (or really, her ass, because that's the part of her we see that's positioned towards Oreki), to him, to the helicopter.

Running against the line I just mentioned is the horizon line created by the buildings in the background, and that one is problematic because of the perspective chosen. If a more traditional angle would have been chosen, this line could give us a sense of the ground, and how the figures are bound to it even as they gaze at the sky. However, because they opted to look at the scene from foot-level and at an angle to the ground, the buildings look like they're just floating randomly across the expanse of the sky, and the figures and objects in the foreground look like they're simply fellow travelers heading in the opposite direction.

And again, this is ignoring the monstrosity that is the giant lens flare plopped down in the middle of the frame.

Splash Star looks kind of neat with the nature setting. Its a breath of fresh air.
I have to make it through Max Heart first though.
Then probably followed up by the rest of K-ON!! to rinse out the awfulness, and then follow up with another dose of either Precure or Sailor Moon. See I plan ahead!

Bored, so I'm posting my Spring Watch List again, with more details this time. Share yours too and we can bond together over what terrible cartoons we'll be watching next season.

Most Anticipated

Majestic Prince - Action comedy mecha series with awesome CG by Orange and hopefully hilarious and :firehawk writing by Reiko Yoshida. Looks to be the most interesting and unique show in the season, and I fucking love the designs.

My Little Pony - It's the first season of MLP but in Japanese. I don't see how it can get any better. Oh wait, it can, hopefully the SONGS are dubbed too! ^_^

Pretty Anticipated

Gargantia - I liked the FMA Milos movie, and Murata seems to be a pretty capable director. Not sure if Butch can deliver a light hearted fun adventure story, but the visuals look pretty damn good. Really colorful backgrounds, pleasent character designs, etc. Could be really fun.

Attack on Titan - The manga fucking rocks, the trailer looked good, and it should have plenty of budget. Unless something goes terribly wrong, it should be pretty fun. Unfortunately since its Araki, and Wit Studio is brand new, lots of things could go wrong. Lol.

Will Probably Be Fun

Devil Survivor 2 - Mai Waifu Game Adaptation. Airi is mai waifu. All of you have to take other waifus. Not expecting much from this show other than Airi-Mai-Waifu and Operation Box. That should be enough to entertain for 13 episodes at least.

Valvrave - Aniplex presents NotGundam - from the creators of Gundam. Love the director, not so hot on everything else. The OP/EDs alone should be killer though. Seems totally safe but will probably not be a disaster.

Yuyushiki - Moe girls doing cute things. Slice of life comedy. Potentially bad. Will watch because Code:Breaker was good. Hope Kinema Citrus can deliver another solid series from uninteresting looking material.

The Pit of Horror

Aku no Hana - This could be really special or really "special". No one is sure yet, but rotoscoping is never a good sign. At least the backgrounds should be nice. Hopefully I don't want to punch the main character in the face too much. Will watch for dresden.

Photo Kano - The only reason I'm watching this show is because of the director. The premise seems awful, the games it is based on seem borderline criminal, and everything about this project seems stupid. But it's Yokoyama + Madhouse. I have to give it at least one episode before bailing out.

Nozoki Ana OVA 1

nozokiana1.jpg

I gave this a good 6~ minutes before I ended up skipping through it due to how shitty the budget was thanks to the bad animation and awful voices that sounded like they were recorded with some cheap $10 desktop mic. It's pretty much a clip collection of sex scenes from the manga but with all the awful squelching noises one can expect from most modern hentai series that make everyone sound like they've drowned in a bathtub full of lube. They also didn't include the legendary NTR BONER SCENE so this is pretty much worthless.

The only hope of Photo Kano being any good is if the director/writer abandons the source and does something new. As far as I know, Photo Kano doesn't really have much in the way of story so maybe there is hope!

Oh, that's what I'd forgotten.

REVISED LIST

Majestic Prince / could be fun; Yoshida; I liked Orange's work on CG: Akito

Valvrave / Kou Matsuo; a competent Gundam-lite could be fun

Gargantia / great design work; liked Milos

Photo Kano / Yokoyama has a slight chance of saving this turd

Yuyushiki / why not

Muromi / yoshihara never exactly stood out to me but the premise reminds me of Mermaid Bride and why not

Yahari / brains base seems fond of rescuing shitty projects (SenColle; Ixion) so i'll give one ep a try why not

Devil Survivor 2 / could be fun why not

Aku no Hana / the best; nagahama is awesome; i like the manga; bold new future of rotoscoping; don't come crying to me when Mushishi 2 is rotoscoped with CG faces

Yamato / basically firehawk12 hype

Attack on Titan / manga is great and the PV was cool

Azazel-san Z / Mizushima is awesome and i loved the first season

(possibly datealive/oreimo) / i dont even know

We love ya Arti. Your news stuff is very informative and you are a great addition to this forum.
It's also all still largely redundant as long as someone else is paying attention to the same sources (which they usually are), but whatever.

Anyway, what the hell is the 紫いも flavor? Taro?

Pony fans should read this as they wait.

The invitation card has a Western theme. Along its margins, cartoon girls in cowboy hats chase a herd of wild Ponies. The Ponies are no taller than the girls, bright as butterflies, fat, with short round-tipped unicorn horns and small fluffy wings. At the bottom of the card, newly caught Ponies mill about in a corral. The girls have lassoed a pink-and-white Pony. Its eyes and mouth are surprised round Os. There is an exclamation mark over its head.

The little girls are cutting off its horn with curved knives. Its wings are already removed, part of a pile beside the corral.
