Wisconsin gym under fire after offering 'I can't breathe' workout routine

You can't make this shit up..

A Wisconsin gym apologized for offering a new workout titled “I Can’t Breathe” — some of George Floyd’s final words — with a display showing a man down on one knee.

An image of a dry erase board describing the workout at AnytimeFitness in Wauwatosa spread quickly across social media platforms, drawing sharp criticism from users over its similarities to the manner in which Floyd died.

The description of the over 35-minute workout included the phrase, “And don’t you dare lay down.” It’s wasn’t clear what the saying referred to.

The gym on Wednesday issued an apology, saying they “are terribly sorry for our actions this week by offering an ‘I Can’t Breathe’ workout.”

“No matter our intent, we now recognize how deeply offensive our words, illustrations and actions have been,” the statement, which was posted to Facebook, read.

Fukin LOL!! How did anyone think this was a good idea?

Ok i'm usually okay with any type of humor but this is a little bit too much too soon.
Also you have to be an idiot to think that this is not gonna be criticized by some people...

Also wtf are burpees? You burp 30 times to train your throat or what?

I was scrolling my Facebook local today and some gym or fitness center was offering a I can’t breathe workout routine.

I continued scrolling

They probably don't deserve to be burnt down but if you play with fire, you get burnt, that's how it works.
Someone thought this was clever i guess... -_O

Other than the name it's also a shit workout.

How so?

Rowing works out the back, biceps, rear delts, legs (hopefully machine provides enough resistance), and works out the cardiovascular system.

Burpees work out the chest, triceps, shoulders, legs, core, and they're great for getting the HR up quickly.

They place a giant wheel of cheese on the back of your neck and you do as many pushups as you can until your credit rating is ruined!?

You know

it always takes something like this to realize just how utterly cut off some parts of the world are

You'd think such a thing would be so far beyond common sense of doing that nobody anywhere in this country would think of it.

But here, someone not only thought of doing it, but did it. And nobody stopped them.

We all live in different universes, bros

This is somebody still living in the 2000s, blissfully unaware, where a bit of edgelord humor didn't start a second apocalypse, and the worst that would happen, is someone shaking their head at you.

It feels more like an idealistic fairytale every day.

What specifically is wrong with it? I bet the intent is to make you suffer like Floyd suffered, to create some empathy.

How is this any different than all the other pageantry and spectacle surrounding this tragedy?

So they’re getting free press and attention that they wanted. Well done, media.

100%

The responses from all parties are all so sickeningly performative. The people being outraged in the piece (1 rando's tweet and 2 Redditards):

“Really concerned that @AnytimeFitness finds mocking the death of George Floyd appropriate racism is alive in Wauwatosa #Milwaukee,” one Twitter user wrote.

No you're not, and in no world does this mock the death. Made in poor taste at the wrong time sure, but it's not an attack or criticism at all.

“Fire the person who thought this was clever or funny. Making light of a man’s brutal murder. Sad sick people,” another Reddit user wrote.

I smell blood, fire this person

And the response of the gym owner makes you roll your eyes

...they “are terribly sorry for our actions this week by offering an ‘I Can’t Breathe’ workout.”

“No matter our intent, we now recognize how deeply offensive our words, illustrations and actions have been,” the statement, which was posted to Facebook, read.

This is the only kinda thing I somewhat agree with cancel culture on.

What? How can it cause empathy if you can stop any time you want? Floyd couldn't just get up and leave.

Uhh.. how is this not mocking his death?

They drew a picture of someone kneeling just like the cop was for God's sake... and titled it "I can't breath."

It's likely supposed to be funny.. aka mocking. What else is it supposed to be?

"and don't you dare lay down".

Jesus fucking Christ man.. how can this NOT be mocking his death?

Ask me about my wife's perfect butthole
Because it's not making fun of the death
You really can't seriously believe that.

Explain what it's doing then? You think this wasn't meant to be humorous?

"I can't breath"

Picture of guy kneeling, like the cop did.

"... And don't you dare lay down" (reference to Floyd)

You think this is supposed to be a serious thing? Or is it joking?

"I cant breathe" is already a slogan for this movement.

Kneeling is a slogan as well, just look at what he Democrats did.

Nothing about this is inherently offensive unless you choose to see everything as an insult.

What a shitty tasteless joke while all these stores burning. But its not illegal so whatever capitalism should determine their fate.

A lot of small city Wisconsin's like this tbh, sitting around wondering what just happened to this nation.
