Jesse Cox's videos are running Hairworks. There was another one in the Youtube Witcher 3 thread in which the user compares the game running with it on and off.
I haven't seen that one. Care to fetch a link

There we have it.
It took 28 pages, but here is the irrefutable proof of a substantial downgrade.
Wonder if they'll change anything for the inevitable enhanced edition.
Say your thanks to the consoles.
Is there a specific, recent gameplay video that shows Hairworks in TW3?
I'm looking through Youtube, but the only one I see is that wolf demo from 10 months ago.
Or maybe I shouldn't spoil myself and just wait till next week for the Ultra footage + HW and have my mind (potentially) blown.

Yeah, I love when AAA games have to deliver such amazing graphics to satisfy the consumers, that they become so prohibitively expensive to develop and thus take fewer risks in terms of gameplay or storytelling. The AAA game dev cycle is the greatest thing about modern gaming! That's very depressing.
I miss games actually pushing graphics forward.
Well, The Order is probably the best looking game on any system at the moment...so I don't quite agree. Also I think this looks stunning on all platforms.
Somebody should link this thread to CD Projekt RED so they can bear witness to the carnival of stupid they caused by daring to modify their graphics without informing us loyal customers well in advance!
Does anyone know if the PC version will have greater population density, or not? Or do we just not know yet?
"Platform unification exists – we have a single build, which is distributed to each one of them. The game is the same; the draw distance is the same. Minor differences result from the fact that the GPU has different parameters on different consoles, which can result in, e.g., the changes in color temperatures."

the 2013 was using W2 engine and sharpening with post effects

PS4.
Most of the videos coming out are due to the PS4 being the review copy that was sent to websites.
Nope it's PS4 as indicated per the button prompts.
Found that other video with HW
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Frv80IjjsOw
Watch from around 33 minutes, and the user turns it off at around 35 minute mark.
Then it's a shitty comparison, no?

I don't think you'd have ever got the 2013 footage, consoles or not.
Why, did the consoles create this game...has the singularity already occurred? Oh shit.
How about blame the actual dev instead. Not for just generally not achieving that kind of high end graphics or not wanting to push in that direction, but rather for promising just that stuff in doctored announcement trailers and PR bullshit when they actually can't deliver.
Consoles are inanimate objects, they decided jack shit and blaming them would proof rather ineffective.
The difference when HW was toggled off was substantial
How does this compare to something like TressFX? Is HW an NVIDIA exclusive tool? Is it present in the PS4 version?
"It will be possible to spot differences in, for example, Nvidia HairWorks, but those are very demanding graphically, so a strong PC will be needed. What Im about to say might not be diplomatic. In the future you will be able to turn on the option of ubersampling, which, upon the release of The Witcher 2, was killing the game, and will probably do the same with this title, so we dont want to unlock it for now. It makes the game look better, but the requirements are insane."
Ubersampling is confirmed for the PC version. That basically means there will be settings our rigs can't currently utilize. In short? This probably means we'll get something close in visual fidelity to earlier builds.
We're seriously comparing PS4 footage to the PC footage, which was presumably an in-engine target?
Kind of a douche move by Einchy to even post it. I was always under the impression that early preview was a PC target, always. Even if the PC didn't reach that, his comparison is useless.
I'd never said it was an accurate comparison.
Then why the fuck are you even in the thread? Did I claim the screens were downgraded or something? I said it wasn't looking hot.
Plenty of other threads where you can sing praises to the game you know.
I think that the PS4 version is looking really great - PC player here

How will the PC ultra version hold up against consoles?

Are all the textures and models the same?
Yes, there is only one version, otherwise we wouldnt be able to make the game in time. We would have to take it all apart, and then build it and test it on three different platforms at the
Hardly any more "douchey" than all the other "comparisons" in the thread. This whole thread is littered with false equivalencies, exaggerations and lies. Personally I'm not willing to make final judgments on the basis of crappy YT video captures.
Sorry, it wasn't targeted at you. It's for the so many people who quote that post as some kinda proof of downgrade.
Oh yeah, then they look TERRIBLE. How will we ever cope? These all look nice....until you zoom in to 1:1.

I guess that why they dropped the 3d grass/better foliage then. oh well.
This just proves it. The three main differences I'm seeing here are the sharpening, color balance, and foliage assets.
These all look nice....until you zoom in to 1:1.
After changing colors a bit, the main problem is LOD and asset density

I don't find that reassuring for the PC version. How will the PC ultra version hold up against consoles?

Yes, there is only one version[...]To sum up, there are only a few differences between PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
Yeah, the trees look like flat light green flakes(?) ... =(
I might switch to the PC version, but if the PC version is getting parity or something like UBI did with Watch Dogs, I'm not sure which version to get.
Maybe I'll wait until some genius unlocks those great visuals like someone did with Watch Dogs.
You're still comparing something that may have been played on a high end development machine with a ps4. So until you can tune those variables and checking the scaleability of such options this comparison is moot.
