Witcher 3 gameplay from YouTubers from CDPR event

What are you guys... what's going on?

I googled Kinga and THIS is what I got:

You guys are sick.
Seems like you forgot her last name :P

I agree with him. Even from that shiity off-screen footage you can tell the draw distance is great, the foliage is dense, the reflections on the water look good. Very promising.

The thing is that the drawdistance is incorporated into the models or some weird thing like that (like it was in witcher 2)
It will probably have kind of the same drawdistance on all systems but other things will look worse because of the foliage taking a good chunk to render.
Though it is 30fps so I would never play it on ps4 either way :/

It's like judging the graphics of a video game by watching a 360p Youtube video. I can't agree with that.

I am not judging the visuals based on that shitty screen as a be all, end all. I can simply tell that the actual quality will look great. Others can see it as well.

Yep. Considering we know already the resolution is 1080p, coupled with high (maybe medium/high settings) with dense foliage and good draw distance with a mostly solid framerate...

Yes. This crappy screenshot does tell us something.

Well people are judging PC version graphics just fine by using some tosh quality YouTube videos so why not to do it to console version too? o_O 1080p YouTube video is far cry from good quality video.

Is it really being suggested that we can't get at least an idea of what the PS4 graphics will be like based on that off screen footage? Give over, please.

Having watched it, seems great to me. It's 1080, we know this. And you can tell the draw distance is pretty great from the off screen footage. The only thing I'm concerned about is performance at this point if I'm honest.

Well, how has pretty much every open world game performed during stressful moments? Sub 30 FPS. Probably not much lower, in the mid 20's but that's how it's been.

I'm not sure why you are expecting differently.

I dont have a single PS4 open world game that performs sub 30 fps. Perhaps it throws away a frame here or there under certain situations in some games, but so far the actual performance is solid.

And based on what good guy CDP has stated (that the game runs beautifully) I cant but expect something along these lines.

In any case we will soon find out hopefully.

But QA testers are, and they did that 25h speedrun.

QA testers still aren't the best speedrunners.

There will always be some glitch or exploit that will shave time off that run that the devs won't find out about until the speedrunning community gets their hands on the game.

Foliage was something I figured would be dumbed down on PS4, since it is in most other open world games, but it looks lush into the distance in the offscreen footage.

These guys are technical wizards.

Given how good the 360 version of W2 looked, I'd say that they know what tricks to employ when scaling down to less capable hardware.

They stated that it was a naive speedrun, no glitches involved just the most critical path in the main quest while skipping all dialogue and story as fast as possible.

Those scenes are cut from the somewhat recent gameplay trailer.

Game looks great, but not as great as Ultra PC. As expected.

PS4 players should be quite happy with this. Looks fantastic.

What open world game on PS4 doesn't go down to mid twenties at times?

GTA V does. Watchdogs does. AC unity sure as hell does.

Maybe you don't play many open world games?

I think it's the fact that they are PC DEVELOPERS primarily is why they cna do such a good job at scalability.

PC devs are experts at building scalable engines.

so are we calling shenanigans here? because if CDPR did it wouldn't it constitute false advertising?

If it can be proven that ad has segments of gameplay that isn't representative of actual gameplay it could be classified as false advertising, at least in most EU countries. And company doing that can get into really deep shit for it in EU.

I have yet to watch the PC version on Ultra but what are the main differences between it and the PS4 version?

Main differences seem to be, HairWorks, IQ, HBAO+, and possibly Volume Based Transluncancy on Vegitation. Also probably PhysX on clothing, cloth, buildings, etc.

Basically anything Nvidia exclusive, plus the normal advantages of PC like AA/AF and resolution/Framerate.

Does Kinga have twitter? Let's ask her for more footage and impressions
Dude, leave that poor girl alone. Why are you stalking her? :P

Seems like the usual upgrade from high to very high/ultra, then. And I'm expecting other stuff like higher res shadows, higher quality Post FX and better LOD.

There are also likely to be differences in LOD and view distance for certain objects... doesn't look like foliage is super affected though. I'm guessing NPC's and stuff. Thigns that are CPu taxing since they don't just sit there, but actually pathfind and run FSM based algorithms, etc.

Apparently some new gameplay with Q/A is going to be streamed on Twitch at 6pm GMT.

Yeah, probably running on a monster PC. The only version they want to show.

Hell, even BioWare was out front with console footage of DA: Inquisition and showed it on PS4 and Xbox One with confidence. That is what I would like to see here, but unfortunately that is just not the case.
