From the uncompressed trailer....

Oy. Maybe I'll just play the game and not worry about a free camera after all.

That armor looks so awesome. I don't recall Geralt ever wearing plate before.

Hopefully there's no fat rolling a la Dark Souls, because I want to be armoured & fabulous.

This guy. Man we know what you think of the 'downgrade' let it go.

I actually rewatched the 35 minute footage and am more inclined to say there is a difference between that footage and what we've been seeing since PAX. Lighting is the most apparent change. I'd be interested to see a recreation of the Johnny quest and make a comparison.

That said though, on a whole this is the most impressive looking open world game I've seen. Unity and GTAV do some things better, but lack in many other areas compared to TW3.

So, are those actual cuts (and deep ones at it)?

And damn, still no Xbox One footage.

I was wondering. Is the wild hunt only going to appear in story related quests etc. or is it possible to encounter riders that are attacking travelers or villages? Man, if there were random events like that.

You don't have to zoom in on that to see the problems with the terrain in the background. Trees and bushes look like they were just pasted on. Ground is completely bare (short grass draw distance) and the trees back there are not casting shadows.

I realize they want you to focus on the cool stuff happening in the foreground, but imagine just running around in that area. Yuck.

Hard to get excited about the visuals anymore. But I get it that some of you still think it looks great, so I'll keep my mouth shot from here on in until the game is out :)

What point are you trying to make here?

Really bad LOD.

I don't believe you ;)

Really bad LOD.

You can zoom in on most games and find LOD looking bad if you focus on distant objects/geometry/characters. GTAV does the same thing and that's arguably the best looking open world game out right now. The thing is, your eyes aren't usually focused on those things when playing so to point them out seems really petty. Now if LOD was shit on something directly in front of your character you'd have some grounds to stand on, but what your pointing out is school-yard levels of nitpicking.

You're 100% correct about this, BUT the promotional shots from just a few months ago promised something different.

I'm ok with it, but I was hoping for the rich detail early promotional shots showed. Probably wishful thinking though :p

Even without zooming in some of that LOD is pretty bad for PC shots. Granted it probably won't be quite as pronounced given the trailer is using a free camera in a lot of the worst examples, but still gonna mean a lot of pop in.

Here is the thing. People are not going to be seeing objects in the distance all blown up and magnified while playing. When you look at the detail of the whole picture as it is meant to be seen while playing, the game looks fantastic.

You'd need a pair of glasses if you couldn't make out an LOD that bad without it "being all blown up"

btw, I didn't blow up/magnify those images, I simply cropped them

Ignorance is bliss in cases like this, i guess.

I don't think he magnified anything. He's just showing parts of the screen at it's native resolution.
