hopefully they keep it in release long enough to reclaim its place as the highest grossing animation film. so much better than this pixar/dreamworks filth.

Unless Disney makes a stupid move here TLK will easily reclaim its spot as the most successful animated movie of all time.

Very Very unlikely. 50 million is a lot of ground to cover. My guess is it makes it up half the difference between where it is now and Shrek 2. Plus I don't think Disney will extend the release by more than one or two weeks.

correct about everything

it made 60 million in two weeks, and as the drop shows, animation, and family films in general, often have excellent legs. if disney keeps it in release, 50 million is more than doable. in fact, if disney gives it time, it would be extremely likely.

Smurfs passed 500M worldwide this weekend. It is now the highest grossing non-sequel of the year (8th overall including sequels).

i don't think it would work nearly as well, Lion King is a movie many teenager/twenty something loved in their childhood and haven't really seen since. not many of those would go and see beauty and the beast.

Beauty and the Beast and the Lion King were both re-released in IMAX back in 2002. Beauty and the Beast made $25M. Lion King made $15M. There would be a sizable market for Beauty and the Beast in 3D. Maybe not quite as high as the Lion King, but probably $50M+.

I'm not gonna lie, the mention of Beauty and the Beast just made me nostalgia hardcore. I enjoyed Lion King, but not that much. I probably like Beauty more *shrug*

Beauty and the Beast was great, and deserved to be nominated for Best Picture. But I think The Lion King trumps it.

It appears like Taylor Lautner is the latest Twilight star to struggle outside of the franchise: Abduction opened to a weak estimated $11.2 million from 3,118 locations. That's less than half of Eagle Eye's $29.2 million opening from three years ago, and also off from fellow Twilight star Robert Pattinson's Water for Elephants ($16.8 million). The audience breakdown was 68 percent female and 56 percent under the age of 25, and the movie received a "B-" CinemaScore (though that improves to an "A-" rating among females under 18).

Dreamworks is alright, but I could see if somebody didn't forgive their initial string of shit movies.

There really was no "string". They are just hit and miss.

How to Train Your Dragon is awesome enough that I don't mind the misses though.

I'm not sure why people are moping about Drive.

It's doing okay, and it's not exactly a movie that begs for a sequel.

It's awesome, and will always be awesome.
