"Wolverine O face" comic artist steals 3 other artist's tables at Montreal Comic-Con

If he registered for more than one, why would the tables next to him have other people's names on them and not his?

I've never heard of communication errors either.

He only registered for one.

He took the tables from the other guys and removed the signs that said it was for them.

He has done this before. Repeatedly.

It's not that hard to get.

He didn't register, he was an invited artist, among the others.

Barely addressed?
From Manapul's twitter (combined tweets since he tagged a lot of people):
I had no idea I was suppose to be there lol
so I actually walked over in a huff---
but he was surprisingly polite.
so I just asked him to redirect traffic.
I was actually ready to stir a fuss but--
in the end I didn't really care. I just--
I just wanted him to know that I knew.
then Fredo style I kissed him in the cheek.

"Doesnt' tell us how many tables he registered for?"
He took names off tables, that should tell you something.

Invert Dan Parent with Manapul, I don't understand twitter. Dan barely addressed, he just retweeted Manapul's.

Again, I've never heard of communication errors either, really absurd!

Seems like Suydam has no problem getting whole stands for himself.

When Francis got there, he was shown to his relocated place by a staffer.

I wasn't aware Suydam was such a big dog though.
Bullying conventions and other artists for years and all they can muster is some twitter rage now and cheap criticism about how he uses photoshopped images in his covers and photoshops lines (when there are people admitting his lines get that big) while conventions bow down to his presence?

He may very well be an asshole, shitty person. I don't know him.
But the guy who twitted and started it all, JimZub, says:

"I am very, very easy going. I don't anger/insult easily. This guy makes my blood BOIL."

"The shows don't stop him so he just continues his ego-fueled awfulness year after year."

"It's not me. I'm fine. I watch it happen to other creators. It makes me furious. If it was me I would NOT let it stand."

And then:

"I didn't want to talk about this more, but it's spun very wide: Please let organizers deal w/ booth issues. Retribution will not solve this."

...

Well, he has been in the industry for near two decades, worked with all the big ones.
The "no one stands up because they don't want to lose their chances" still applies here?

And I'm sure there are other big names there, just look at the guest list.

But sure, direct communication = no. Twitter "communication" = yes.
Lame all around.

Sounds like BS. From all other accounts, they pulled a "do you know who I am?" type thing.

But the other conversation you posted from Francis says it's not bullshit.

yeah that's kinda weird. She came by my table and told me it was a con mix up, but let it slip that my new location was --
suppose to be theirs but that spot "didn't work for them and they got the approval from the con to move" to my assigned spot
I didn't realize that I was assigned prime real estate that they coveted lol and from my understating the bullied their way--
o an approval even making a staffer cry along the way. I'm actually just shaking my head now. Just tell the truth. Geez
he has it in his contract. The issue is not the amount it's that he took someone else's spot because it was "better"

Now it's about how he "stole the spot". But initially he took the names from the 3 around him?
So which is it? Was he never in that position? Was he assigned just one table?
Was he assigned one table in that spot, organization offered to set his four tables in another spot and he decided to stay there because it was the "better location"?

If fans were confused by their new location (because the map pointed to the "old" area), were Suydam's fans confused about his new location (if they didn't change the map, it should show his original location)?

The dude photoshop people into his line to make it look longer.

Black guy in the back of the line looks like bish lol

He showed up early and took other peoples tables and set them up without making a scene. Thats a far cry from other people taking his stuff off the tables and taking them back for yourself. I guess he'll just sit there and allow you to do that as well.
No competent convention operation would allow this in the first place. I've exhibited at fairs and events before and something like this would be unheard of.

The only way other tables could be taken is if someone gave notice of cancellation before or the scheduled exhibitors didn't check in by the cutoff time and there was a wait list.

And for me if I showed up to someone in my assigned table space, I'd talk to them first to inform them they are taking my space. If they want to be dickbags about it, the next step is informing convention staff and letting them know they need to remove the other person's stuff or watch me do it if they refuse to do their jobs.

Remember when that guy tried to go internet tough guy on Rob at a convention? And Rob shut him down with a quickness by being a decent human being?

what were the details on this one?

Yeah Marvel who signs his paychecks and raised his prominence.

If he steals IP like he steals tables, you're going to blame DC and Image?

wow, you're really reaching with the fanboy stuff here

Please. Waid needs to take a chill pill.

i mean, waid gets self-righteous about stuff, but this is pretty shitty & at least it feels properly aimed

ehh...isn't Dorkin a huge dick himself though? might be mixing him up with van scrier though, and i do love milk & cheese

Yet he wrote irredeemable with that ending?

oh? feeling glad i bailed before that one tied up right now

Heh, Wikipedia has already been updated to reflect this:

He's pretty talented when he tries but yes, his more recent body of work has included a lot of lazy stuff like that. He's also responsible for this infamous Wolverine cover:

I had to track down the Wolverine thread again, but sadly majority of the pictures are broken.
BUT! this masterpiece of a comment still survived:

This is the worst fucking thread I've ever seen on GAF. You should all be ashamed of yourselves.

I GOT AN IDEA!!! LET'S PUT THE FACE OF ONE OF THE GREATEST COMIC BOOK CHARACTERS EVER ON WHATEVER SHIT WE CAN FIND THAT'S BEEN FUNNY OVER THE LAST YEAR... WOW HOW BRILLIANT.

I hope you all die.

The Montreal show changed its floor plan on Thursday, the day before the show, however they didn't send out notification and only the 5 American artists at set up time on Thursday nite knew of the table placement floor-plan change.
The next day at show-time the Canadian artists unfortunately began hearing from a singular trouble-making fan artist who wasn’t there at set up who began spreading fabrications to the artists and online that the American artists at the row-end were taking their tables (and guess who that lucky artist on the end was).

The fan artist wasn't in the loop on Thursday and so knew nothing. This is the guy who sat across from us all weekend long at his table with no fans and no one paying him any attention while the crowds flocked to the American artist's tables.

Then the low-I.Q. online crowds, too lazy to check facts more interested to turn simple misunderstandings into an opportunity to create some trouble jumped in .

The show promoters have since come out and corroborated these facts.

Sounds like a piece of shit.

A friend just told me that he's tried to steal their tables in the past. Apparently he's a real douche who does this shit all the time.

I met this guy at a Columbus con. I bought a print of his yellow Norman Reedus painting and had Reedus sign it then gave it to mother.

That's all I have to say.

Lets see:

- pulls the "us vs them" card (Americans/Canadians)
- calls a fellow artist a "fan artist"
- calls the online community "low-IQ"

Yeah, this guy isn't helping his case.

hahahaha dumbass

Hahaha that's the best way to adress the people that spent the weekend calling you human garbage, piece of shit, thief. Now they'll ask him to take the high road?

The bottom line is that he did nothing wrong and the internets shockingly piled on without shockingly having the facts and charging to support the underdog.
I would be an asshole about it to.
Fuck people who gave him shit, his fans will be his fans and those that aren't well who cares.
