I used to live in Ohio. Word has it that the town keeps the deaths as quiet as possible. My uncle and cousin used to work there during their college summers.

The dragster killed 2 people in its first month of being open. The first choked on their gum, the second choked on their vomit.
:lol

Did you also know Top Thrill Dragster was built on an Indian burial ground?

How big is Hogwarts itself? Is it one of those distance-trickery things where its only the size of a shack?

its definitely not the size of an actual castle, but its much bigger then a shack.

Lets just say this...you can see it from the interstate which is miles away. It's larger then Cinderellas castle in The magic Kingdom.

Besides the Coasters..its the tallest structure in the park.

you are joking right? There is no such thing as keeping "death" a secret. Anytime one of these parks rides kills someone its all over the news.

Very cool. I had this feeling like they would just make Hogwarts super tiny and mounted up on a hill that just looked large from scale or something.

- Award-winning composer John Williams oversaw the creation of the attraction’s score.

Famed film composer John Williams has worked with Universal to create a reworked version of the "Harry Potter" score for Wizarding World to add more authenticity to the park. No new music has been added, but the various themes could be heard playing in Hogwarts castle as well as around Hogsmeade.
HELL YEAH

I saw them pimping this on the HBP blu-ray, looked cool... I am actually curious to see what butterbeer tastes like... hopefully not like melted butter in root beer like I always imagined o_0

I went to IOA shortly after it opened and must go back....

I just dont know how I feel about strolling around a snowy village when it's 95 degrees out....

I should visit in Junary.

Never been to IOA, but the park has always looked great. Hopefully I'll get to go soon.

New Harry Potter section looks awesome.

Like a few people said before ioa was great before potter was announced

Not a fan of HP at all but it looks cool, we spent a week at Royal Pacific Resort at Universal last year, well worth it with the Front of the line tickets included.

We are going to WDW for 10 days in September, may take a day out and do Universal. I think the Mummy is underrated, awesome ride I love it.

the castle is actually pretty small compared to the actual ride building itself.
I think you can only see the entrance to Hogwarts from the outside. Once you pass through the fake Hogwarts entrance and go into the large ride building, there is more of the castle inside including several classrooms, the great hall, etc.

Hah, so they finally announced the opening date to the public? I was quite shocked when I was the thread title as we'd always seen it as "Wizarding World" - glad to see it was a mistake. We've been working quite closely with Universal on the promotion of this here in the UK - you have no idea how locked down the Potter IP is...

Out of curiosity, who's "we?"

And it's the thread title that's wrong.

:lol Whoops. I don't know how I missed that. Oh well. Can someone change it?

I am interested in trying the butter beer as well as the Hogs Red Amber. That Strawberry Peanut Butter Ice Cream sounds good too.

From what I read the people behind Three Broomsticks food are the same folks that did the food for Mythos..IOA's other sit down spot. Mythos wins best theme park restaurant pretty much every year, as the food is actually good and of decent quality. At least compared to most of the crap you get in Disney World.

also mentioned...there will be a magic view of the kitchen where you can see plates and pots stacking themselves. Above the restaurant is a 2nd level of sorts that will feature special effects and sounds of patrons to make it feel like a place packed with people/wizards.

They really are going all out for this.

90% of all merchandise in the stores will be exclusive to Universal Studios, including the food. So you won't be able to try these things anywhere else.

So will this have 40-year-old men playing Harry and Ron?

according to sources, there will not be any "characters" from the movies/books to take photos. Instead they will just have people dressed as students/wizards walking the streets.

Also there are rumors that at certain hours of the day there will be fake snow (similar to what they do during Grinchmas and Mickey's Holiday Party.) Not sure how often they will keep this, as it is very expensive to operate those snow machines....but I guess there water bills are already pretty high considering 3 of their main attractions use water.

I'll make sure to keep the thread updated with any new info if there is interest.

Just in case you care the Ellen show taped there last week, and they will be airing it on this Thrusday and Friday..I think. Not that I would even subject myself to that show. :lol

Soft opening for the park should be at the end of April to Mid May..so we should have a lot more info at that time.

I have found the boards over at Orlando United very helpful for new info. I am too lazy to register on that site, so I'll just post here instead. :lol

Will definitely go when I go home for Christmas this year... hopefully some of the madness will have died down by then (doubtful). My girlfriend is super excited and she's only a sort of Harry Potter fan.

Here are some more pictures...

Wait a minute...Harry, Ron, and Hermione convince you to play hooky? Such role models! :lol

Well the books taught us that ignoring the rules and ignoring authority will always pay off in the end.

But dude, Disaster Transport. Best theming ever :lol
I love that joint like I love Epcot. It's like taking a ride in the 1980s.
Probably has changed since I've been though.

The back of Cedar Point is like the 1970s though and usually I find a milf or two lingering around the Gemini. It's fabulous.

The cat is out of the bag... or is that the snitch is out of the snatch?

Attractions Magazine has plenty of videos and pictures of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter (including a crappy POV of the Forbidden Journey).

http://attractionsmagazine.com/blog...ney-ride-and-the-rest-of-the-wizarding-world/

As a roller-coaster and theme park nut, I have to confess that this appears to be worth the hype. Amazing attention to detail - so much so that it may even hurt the ability of the new area with the capacity it can handle. The streets and shops appear to be intimately small and full of detail. I can't imagine how it will handle the masses at peak season.

The POV of the Forbidden Journey is crap-tacular, so it's hard to see if it's as revolutionary as promised. All I know is that the KUKA robot arm technology has the potential to do all sorts of gyrations. I must confess that I'm not too thrilled by what a appears to be plenty of video screens and not many actual physical sets and anamatronics - but, that said, Soarin' is overtly simple in design but flawless in excecution.

Overall, this area looks so impressive that I may need to book a impromtu trip to Orlando just to soak it all in.

If the Magic Kingdom's Fantasyland expansion (Fantasy Forest) holds this level of detail, then it should be great times in Orlando. Now, if World of Color on the West Coast opens and seems to be impressive, I'll need to decide what to hit first.

Hey Gaf, I just got back from my trip to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. I took quite a few pics and have lots of stories to tell. So once I get everything put away and let myself rest, I will let you guys know all about it.

awesome

The ride itself is pretty awesome :D .

The best way I can describe it is a sideways version of the Spider-Man ride jacked up on steroids.

The line itself is actually pretty cool, most of the moving portraits look amazing, however, there are a few that don't seem to have the canvas texture that most of the others do and they end up just looking like framed televisions.

And the butterbeer tastes pretty much like cream soda, if that's your kind of thing.

Okay, so I got off my lazy butt after getting home tonight and uploaded the pictures of my trip to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/arsin619/

I am still much to lazy right now to tell you all about my experience in Hogsmeade, but I promise to have all the details anyone could want by tomorrow. For now I hope my pictures will satisfy. I my one big collection with 4 sets inside that. I am sure I left out some, but I did not upload them in any kind of order so browse with care.

Oh and one quick comment, the ride was all kinds of awesome. Anyone who is at all interested in Harry Potter will nerdgazm all over the place and even if you know nothing about the books or movies, it is still a fun ride. All the juicy details about that and more, tomorrow.
