Seems like a solid choice for Dumbledore. With the films Rowling had a hard line that all the actors had to be British, which is why they didn't go with Robin Williams as Hagrid even though he offered to play him. She must have softened her stance on that.

It's not bad. The opinions of a few people on social media don't matter in the grand scheme of things. There's millions of opinions out there online.

Just looked under Discussing Film... Looks pretty normal

I saw like 5 or 6 who took 8 or so steps into connecting him to Rowling but overall the sentiments were ranging mostly from "great! Can't wait to see" to some "he's so old tho!" to "he's not even British! Fail"

John Lithgow is one of the best actors around and he'll own this role.

This is what she normally looks like. I'm kinda tired of the posts making fun of her looks (to be fair, the shaved head and eyebrows and weight loss is kinda weird... Hopefully it's for a movie role)

For my taste she's just to skinny. I can get down with bald or short hair on a woman.

Good casting but he's certainly quite old now. I'd think they'd want someone just a tad younger. Like how Ian McKellen was for lotr. Perfect for that but definitely lost some pep by the time the hobbit came around.

I Think he can still do physically demanding... His Rudy Giuliani was quite good for physical comedy.

I'm curious how much they will lean into the "Dumbledore is gay" stuff that was COMPLETELY irrelevant (and nonexistent) in the books just to add LGB content. Or if they go nuts with trans stuff just to quell that tiny rabid "we are not fans now!" fanbase. Hopefully they are sticking to the source material or at least have time to excise any woke tosh in there since the pendulum has swung away. Lithgow would make for a great pervy old man though

I'm assuming there will be flashbacks so I wonder if they are casting for folks with good de-aging CG reference material. Lithgow goes back 50 years or so...plenty to use or if they will cast younger versions.
