Replace any player that wasn't sent off with one from your bench who is yet to play.
Change your captain, providing he wasn’t sent off, with someone whose team is yet to play.

On a matchday, the substitution window will close 15 minutes before the first kick-off.

The player chosen to bring in must adhere to the formation rules. E.g. if you only have 3 defenders in your starting 11, you may not replace a defender for another midfielder as there is no legal formation with only two defenders.

An unlimited number of substitutions can be made but only eleven players with one captain can score points each round.

Here are some reasons you may choose to make substitutions:

• One of your players goes off injured after a few minutes
• Your captain wasn't selected to play in the round.
• You are a gambler and decide that one of your substitutes will score more points than someone who already played in the round

Perhaps some of you will want to rethink their starting 11 for the first (few) matchday(s).

yeah the only risk you are taking is, that one of your worse players gets a red card and you are stuck with him for the round.

No once a players team has played and you sub him out before the round ends, that player loses all the points he got in that round.

So you have to gamble if the new player will get more points than the one you are replacing.

But it makes no sense to not use your players who play first, because you can still sub them out if they choke or get injured.

Yeah that's my understanding of the rules, and the reason why my team plays a 5-3-2 formation for at least the first 2 match days.

I've gone rather cheap on my Goalkeepers.
Hoping for a clean sheet by:
Chalkias vs. South Korea in round 1.
Sorensen vs. Cameroon or Chalkias vs. Nigeria in round 2.
Benaglio vs. Honduras or Sorensen vs Japan in round 3.

For the round of sixteen, I'm then probably gonna splurge on a Goalkeeper who actually has a chance to reach the semi finals.

Formation changes if you replace for instance a defender with a midfielder.

You keep your players over the rounds.
After the first round you are allowed to transfer one player.
