World of Warcraft |OT9| People still play this? Isn't it from 2004

But then you have stuff like Mistweaver where I have 250% mastery to add a bonus heal. 250% of what exactly? And how much haste stat do I need to get 1%? How does it scale ect. Is there diminishing returns?

I know it isn't that important but I like to know the smaller details on stuff like this lol.

MW mastery is not worded very well, but the mastery % listed on your character sheet is the percentage of your spellpower that the Gust of Mists heal heals for (since gust of mists always heals, and isn't a chance). So at 0 mastery, base is 80% spellpower. At enough mastery for 200% total, the Gust of Mists heal hits for double your spellpower. Most secondary stats are straightforward, crit is a % chance for your ability to hit harder, vers makes your damage and healing that % more powerful and you take that % less damage, haste increases action speed (formula based, it doesn't just decrease casting speed by haste%), but because mastery is class based sometimes it has wonky calculations and can be confusing.

Its worded exactly like you said tho.

Effuse, Renewing Mist, Enveloping Mist, and Vivify also cause a gust of healing mists, instantly healing the primary target for (0.01% of Spell power).

Now if the person only looked at his character screen stat and saw 200% mastery but didn't actually go in his spellbook and read what the mastery is, thats another issue :p

Even scrolling over mastery at the character screen shows you what it does per your class

This is what shows up when you mouse over the stat. No mention of spell power at all, very understandable that someone wouldn't know what the percentage means. You should not have to go into your spell book to understand what a stat does that is displayed like every other stat on your character sheet...

It doesn't tell you what that 250% is from. Now I know it's the amount of heal that reads in the spell book. The mastery stat text doesn't say that.

You also have to look in your spellbook to see what all your passives do aswell. I understand that you maybe didnt know the mastery was in the spellbook, but you seem to be going with "it should say so on the character screen" which for masteries, which are different for every spec not to mention class, would be awkward.

Put your cursor over the mastery, it says what exactly it is.

Put your cursor over the haste, it tells you how much rating you have and how much haste it gives so you can calculate how much rating it takes for 1%.

Put your cursor over things and it explains them.

edit: Oh, hadn't refreshed the page. Sounds like MW monks just have a dumb wording for mastery?
edit2: Or not

Bah, incorrect link, image is there now. Clearly no mention of spellpower. Might have to do with tooltip settings.

Its already calculated it. And even if it didnt say "a % of your spellpower" it still clearly shows what it does. More mastery and that gust of healing will be better.

Hell this way is even easier to understand.

BTW, for posterity, here is my spellbook for the mastery:

iMw5lo6.jpg

Also no mention of spellpower or what the % means. And if there is any option for complex vs simple tooltips in the interface options, it has been pruned in legion and I cannot find it.

Yes, no mention of spellpower because it just directly tells you for how much the heal is. The amount shown will change as your mastery changes.

Mastery is a weird stat, it works so differently for every spec.

Check this shit out for Enhancement:
OSGbzbk.png

My mastery is 71.89%, which increases one thing by 5.56% and one thing by 88.97%

Makes sense, right?

I've been wanting to see what the fuss was about. All of us in the convention center didn't see what people on the Virtual Ticket saw and Blizzard has yet to put up the Weird Al performance.

I mean it's obvious what the mastery does, just the actual math is weird since there is no way to know what the base value is and if it's tied to spellpower ect (apparently it is).

The entire issue is that the character pane lists a percentage, but gives you no indication of what that percentage means. If after the percentage it said "of spellpower" it would be non-confusing. I don't see how this is hard to understand. Yes, it lists a value, but it isn't clear if that value is then multiplied by the percentage, or if you have less than a 100% chance to apply the heal if the value is under 100% and values over 100% are wasted.

This is all easily testable, but that is not my point. The point is the omission of the words "of spell power" makes the tooltip unclear. If you include the percentage, include the words "of spell power" or your percentage is confusing until tested. Two words is all it would take...

I would argue that it is an issue given that someone bothered to ask in this thread about exactly that! But in the end I generally agree, I just get irritated by things in this game that are confusingly worded or coded. Spent a lot of time talking with the dev of TellMeWhen, and some of the more janky aspects of the games wording/coding get to me more when I realize the things he has to do to make his addon work because of these issues.

Thinking about getting my army of alts to 110 considering the AK catch-up they're bringing in with 7.1.5, but I remember people complaining about the Warrior class hall taking ages to complete for some reason - anyone know if they fixed it?

This turret world quest at the highmountain border is the worst and has been bugged every single time since launch. Vrykuls stuck in mid air and ammo going through dragons for no reasons.
Also turrets have an absurdly limited range and movement. Wtf.

Yeah...quickest way to finish that quest is to tag the riders on the ground. You can usually just herd 5 to 10 up and aoe em down. Avoid the turrets.

I actually found out about that today, but I'm almost sure I had tried this last month and it didn't work. Oh well.

At a loss on how to get more recipes for cooking, unless I got them all. Not even maxed it as nothing gives points 100%.

Nomi even gives me back fish and other stuff. I got this addon that is suppose to tell me, but don't think it helps.

Make sure you get the world drop recipes (surf and turf, the one from the rare in Suramar) and you'll be able to unlock all the others through Nomi.

Just noticed I can use the 3rd color of the hidden skin on my Ret and Prot specs despite not having unlocked their hidden skins. I guess doing those 200 WQs as Holy paid off more than I expected.

Guild finally stepped into Mythic EN. Nythendra went down almost disappointingly fast.

Ursoc needs some work though...I will say it's funny watching people screw up mechanics that they've been doing every week in normal/heroic.

Also, Frost is so much better than Unholy right now, what the hell. Unholy could probably pull ahead in a pure single target fight but there kind of aren't any of those in mythic. Plus Frost is brain dead simple and Unholy requires some luck. But it's pretty annoying how I spent all that time getting optimal gear and a legendary for Unholy only to easily beat my numbers as Frost despite having far worse AP, relics etc.

I'm mostly looking forward to another crack at Nightbane in a few days. We beat him by the skin of our teeth last time, he died at the same time I did. Our healer was struggling the whole time and I spent a lot of the fight under 30% - looks like I'll try running the DK talent to reduce damage at low HP. It helped a lot on Wrath of Azshara +10 who was even worse for healing (and honestly harder than nightbane).

edit: didn't see this post until now:

Said fuck it and just bought the books for my Ret hidden appearance. Meh.

Any DKs here? Should I be going Frost or Unholy? Probably won't be raiding too much, so if one is better for M+ that's probably what I'd be looking for.

You know I'm not sure which one would be better for mythic+. Obviously for the lower levels Frost would be more useful. But the higher you go, the more you need good single target. Not that Frost seems bad for that, but still. The stun on Remorseless Winter might be the thing that makes it win out.

I will say during my Kara speedruns I keep wishing I could drop Sindragosa on the huge packs of 20-30+ trash mobs I gather up...

Yes.

Welcome to using bonus rolls on the same boss every week in hopes of a titanforge.

Ok, so I got this shock baton from the WQ, so do I have to wait for it to have that same reward, or can it be something else.

Also, if I did a mythic+ do I get loot from the chest in my order hall?

It can be something else, but the shock baton will be back

I am waiting for a good one as well, got a 875 sinew yesterday

what mythic+ affixes did EU have last week and this week? It seems like they are on a schedule as I was able to predict teeming/necrotic this time around.

Teeming Necrotic wasn't as bad as I thought it would be as a Blood DK. There's nothing preventing me from ONLY kiting mobs except that I lose a lot of DPS. Necrotic Skittish would be far worse.

Necrotic still feels like the most broken, unbalanced affix overall. I like the idea of it as it definitely makes me change up how I tank, I've learned how to use AMS and D&D slow very well. But it's just SO much harder than the others it's way out of line, even without taking into consideration the problems it introduces specifically for my class. The dumbest thing is that it applies to bosses and BOSS ADDS. Many bosses it doesn't even matter because they attack slowly or stop to cast - but then you have the ones with add swarms that give you unavoidable, undroppable stacks.

It's honestly baffling how this got past testing, although there is one thing worse - raging on that first miniboss in Vault of the Wardens. How do you even beat that thing.

Man healing last boss of Kara was crazy as a priest. What's the best way to coordinate the ball part on final platform? We were calling out who to dispel and every time someone was standing right next to them so they got 1 shot. Should I even bother dispelling or just let the full duration go healing the dot to make sure everyone gets in position? Just the ball portion isn't that bad, but combined with all the crap on the ground, disintegrate, burning stacks on the tanks I'm just sitting here like I main shadow, I'm not great at holy (such a mobile healer!) and we had like 11 wipes. WTB great resto Druid for our guild lol.

I wanted the PvP skin so now I'm grinding BGs.

Is it just me or is this pretty good for AP?

Yes, it really is.

Also, once you prestige, you don't have to re-unlock the PvP talents anymore. What's that mean? That means the "reward" you get for each level is 200 gold or AP power. AP power that scales with AK.

In short, yes, PvP. Or at least always do the Warden Towers.

That's a shame. Should've done another episode of You Talkin' U2 To Me? with Adam Scott. I see people giving Thomas Middleditch a hard time for his hosting duties. I only caught a glimpse while standing in line to play the Necromancer for a second time.

Blizzard might as well give people what they want and put community members up there for a year. I'm sure they'll complain about that too. People just get too defensive these days.

We overgear that fight but it honestly has been the easiest boss in Kara for us except the opera event.

How good at kiting is your tank? Those felguards barely ever hit me and I'd imagine that helps with healing a lot. Don't facetank them, get DPS to stun them.

Also, I don't envy healers on Nightbane. That's some crazy shit.

One day I realized that sadness is just another word for not enough coffee.
Last boss of Kara was pretty easy for my group. Just spread out and have the people who get orbed run away for the dispel/tick. It was a great fight aesthetically but disappointingly easy compared to the Mana Devourer or Maiden of Virtue.

Yeah those are the two we suck at specifically.

God knows we got a lot of practice on westfall story, moroes, and curator over the past week trying for Nightbane.

Which appearance? The PvP one? Depends how active you are.

You get it at prestige 2, so that can take awhile if JUST doing the Warden Towers. Slightly easier now that they buffed PvP rewards for real PvP games, but you'd still have to prestige 2x.

I was talking about the rewards after prestiging.

Levelling up a Mage right now. Started at 1, levelled as Frost, really liked Frost.

But having done the artifacts for Fire and Arcane... I really like those too. Perhaps not as much as Frost, but still enjoyable. I"ve never played a class before where I liked all the specs. This is kinda odd.

Still, guess I found my new main!
