How many people do you have soaking the breath? We started out with around half of our raid in it and the charge aoe was smashing us. When we got all of our melee soaking it was easy to heal. He gains a stacking buff if not enough people soak.

our entire raid was soaking the breath, didn't realize that you didn't NEED everyone in the breath to avoid the buff on the boss if that's true. I don't think we were getting any stacks on the boss, at least not intentionally. The charge AOE was still ticking for insane amounts. As I said we go with 30 so maybe that's why, but there's no way that damage is in line with the loot that drops in there.

Smooth Nightbane run last night. Managed to loot and bonus roll the two things on the boss that I didn't really need, a shadow relic and the stat/mastery/fear break trinket. I really wanted the chest or a frost relic, but eh whatever.

We'd never seen this week's opera event, had a few minor hiccups and generally took it easy that run. Over 3 minutes to spare. We've mostly come up with our own strategies through trial and error so I'm kinda curious if we're doing anything glaringly wrong. For any aspiring speed runners (or people with suggestions to improve our time) here's a breakdown of how we do it:

1. Head right to the opera hall. I control undead the first banshee, turn right and pull that entire floor of guests but I don't go to the second floor until they are dead. I pull the rest of the mobs on the way to the opera event, and our healer goes ahead to start it immediately while I drag everything down. The RP lasts so long that I can release my banshee and kill it before the boss starts. We use our first bloodlust on the boss.

2. Once the opera event is dead, pull all the mobs up to and including the room with the cast members from the old event. Watch out for 'final curtain'. The next pull is the hardest in the dungeon IMO and some people invis potion past it. But you can do it with some AOE stuns and interrupts. Pull the whole room and don't let them cast 'firelands portal'. I use gorefiend's grasp as an extra interrupt. After this you have a pull of a couple ushers (turn your back for flashlight) and one pack of opera guests. The first crystal can be activated without aggro-ing the nearby pack, but for some reason we can only do it with a cat druid. No matter how many times I try, I can't do it as an orc, I have to get too close.

3. From here it's a pretty straightforward line to Maiden's crystal. I make sure to only pull 4-5 ushers at once because 7 ended poorly one time. I control undead the Spectral Valet who has a 20% damage reduction demo shout that is EXTREMELY useful. With that mob I can pretty much just pull everything up to the crystal at once, although I basically do it in two chain pulls. Activate Maiden's crystal (don't fight her) and start heading to Moroes.

4. The room before Moroes' hall, most of the mobs aren't a big deal but Retainers need to die fast. They have more hp, mind control, and I THINK they are the mobs who cast the heal circle on the ground. It looks like a shadowy mist that heals all the mobs very quickly if they aren't pulled out. Can be devastating to run times. From here, it seems like a lot of mobs but they have crap for health and you can pretty much just grab Moroes' whole room.

5. Some people do Moroes without CC. We play it safe and CC two, then when one dies I pull another over. Some are worse than others, we're very careful with the mana burn lady. We sometimes have bloodlust up here, but if it's not, we save it for curator. Once Moroes is dead activate the crystal and head to the spider basement

6. Spiders are a run ender and need to be taken very slowly and carefully. Web blast does a shit ton of damage, do NOT stand in front of a spider if you're not a tank because it WILL kill you. Take the pulls 2-3 at a time, grab patrolling arcanids when convenient. Remember that stepping on webs clears the webs and spawns a spider. You need to activate 2 webs in the entire section, one blocking a door and one blocking the crystal. There's a small pack of spiders you can avoid in the crystal room, if you walk around the back side and clear out one section of web you can just walk up and activate the crystal without aggroing the spiders. Remember that you cannot take the portal if you're in combat or have a control undead mob, but worst case scenario as long as you have the buff, just die and it plops you back at the zone entrance.

7. From the zone entrance you pretty much just walk to Curator and can really only skip two mobs - one banshee and the golem on the right side before Curator's room. The banshee pull up the stairs is very awkward and weird...they seem to never cast their fear as long as they're out of range of the tank, so I try to just constantly run up the stairs pulling banshees constantly. But this fucked over one of our best runs because one of them ended up evading at the bottom. As a compromise I stop at one of the landings and kite them around in a circle to let my team catch up.

8. Pull the left golem and run up to fight the slightly fancier looking golem. This guy has 30 SECOND LONG silence and I'm not sure what causes it or how to prevent it. I got it on myself once and it SUCKED. He dies real fast though. And our paladin said he could BOP it off. Anyways, after it's dead, have your party stay in this room.

9. Pull the mana wyrm and arcane elemental packs back to that room. Do NOT pull 3 packs, you will die. The elementals cast an AOE that you can only interrupt once their damage shield is gone. 2 packs at once is doable for us but healing gets hairy. In my experience - and I've done this too many times now - the best way to pull these packs is chain pulling one at a time in quick succession. This gives DPS time to get one shield down and interrupt the first elemental, while the other one slowly walks over.

10. Curator is pretty simple. We have our mistweaver and myself both use an Old War for extra DPS during evocation, and we save bloodlust for here. He ended it at 5% and we burned him from there. Easy. Now as long as your crystal doesn't despawn or you don't bug out and get stuck in combat you're home free. You have tons of time to make it to Medivh's image by Nightbane's spot, and if anyone talks to him you all get the achievement even if one of you lost the buff stacks.

Nightbane is his own can of worms but changing my spec around for maximum single target survivability helped a lot. Watch out for tail swipe when repositioning him. Also, bloodlust in his final phase (after bonecurse is dead). Even though bonecurse heals himself and puts a stacking debuff (that lasts into phase 3) it's still easier to use it then. Anti-magic shield prevents the fear.

If this helps anyone or inspires them to try the run themselves that's cool. I just wanted to get it written down to see if I could analyze any spots that I can improve.

Pretty smooth run with the new guild up to Helya last night. Two-shotted Odyn, 4 attempts to get Guarm down. Then it all fell apart. Holy christ that Helya fight is a clusterfuck.

We'll be doing ToV tonight, but I can't find anything that suggests specifically what's going on with the tanks during Guarm's breaths. I assume Guarm doesn't turn with the tank so we're free to move into a breath cone? Do we have to move away a little to make sure we're fully in one and only one cone?

Yup, you got it. Just make sure you're up the other tank's ass like a buttplug tho, or you'll kill the melee when they're resetting.

In this allegory, the boss is Aerys the Mad King, and your guildmate is Tywin Lannister, who showed up late to the party, didn't fight a single battle, and reaped all the rewards. This checks out.

They need to remove Raptor Strike and Way of the Makw/e.
Make it so DFG replaces explosive trap.
Reduce Mongoose fury to 3 stacks.
Make FoTE automatically give 3 stacks of fury, so it's your opener for starting your burst. Which would also make it actually usable for on demand AOE.
Lacerate/Flanking/Axes are fine.
MoC is kinda lackluster for survival IMO.

Also replace the dumb harpoon dot and dollar store windfury as the golden traits.

I don't know why MoC doesn't replace Lacerate.

Whelp, just levelled my Monk to 110 doing nothing but XP missions and sending him the BoA caches for resources since lv 102 (aside from order hall quests to get more followers). Mostly just wanted to see if it was possible, takes quite a while obviously. Would be interesting trying to run any content on it now being lv 110 with a 715 ilvl, and since all the zone quests scale they are pretty hard at that level of gear, world quests are virtually out of the question without using the group finder and letting other people do it for me. Had 4 rare 110 followers when I hit 110 and ~10 green and 5 blue follower upgrade things, kind of funny because it is still better than my shaman who I actually play.

Now to do this on my other alts so that my Valentines army of "not gonna get the rocket again this year" is complete!

Holy shit, got my best titanforged roll ever. 880 agil trinket with crit, but crit sucks ass for ENH. I gotta sim but I doubt this is better than my 840 appendages which is sad.

edit: Sim says 6 dps increase for the new trinket which is pretty sad. 40 ilvls increase and that much of a difference. Just shows how much stats are worth to certain classes.

what dungeon or raid bosses have fear effects? I got a trinket off nightbane that cancels them, which would be pretty cool if I couldn't already just immune his fear with AMS. But I'm drawing a blank here aside from Dragons of Nightmare (and I don't even know what causes that one).

fake edit: just remembered a couple in Darkheart Thicket, those eyeball guys and Xavius. And those guys in Maw of Souls, but ideally you'd interrupt that.

Hmm just from memory, Maw trash, Maw 1st boss, Darkheart eye guys and last boss (might be a horrify?), I think something on the first boss in BRH can fear, can't think of anything else. Fear isn't all that prevalent anymore. I know there's something I'm forgetting too but I can't think of it. And most fears seem interruptible or easily avoidable now.

I don't get the enclave class set. It's not great and it caps at 840 and yet it is gated behind reputations and dungeons and the enclave quest. By the time you get to unlock 4 pieces, you're already wearing stuff with higher item levels and obviously better stats. What exactly is the point of this thing? Even at the start of the expansion, with WQs giving good rewards, the gating was too high.
I could understand the class set being gated at most behind honored rep and half way of the enclave or class quest, or if every piece was a simple transmog with no stats which didn't cost 500g (why the price is fixed in ,my enclave but I can buy pieces at discounted prices from the rep vendors? another stupid thing) but as it stands I don't get it. You outgrow it even before you get to buy it.

That's because you have the two BIS trinkets already. If that 880 trinket had rolled Mastery, I don't think you will ever get anything better than that for Enhance.

Assuming you meant the order hall sets, and not something new that was added in 7.1 with ToV or something, since I know there are sets from that place as well. I found that the order hall set had much more relevance on my alt that I don't play that much vs how worthless it was on my main, especially now with the ability to send order resources to your alts so that you can upgrade the pieces to 830 really quickly. I got the Helm, Bracers and Chest on my shaman at 830 within 2 days of hitting 110, which were all really nice upgrades. Similarly, I got the gloves by just doing the intro Suramar chain to unlock the hub and sending ~7 of the BoA rep tokens I had gotten for Nightfallen, got honored just with that, and the legs were very easy to get as well. So all told, I was able to get 5 pieces of 830 gear within 2 days of hitting 110, and World Quests were still awarding me 820+ gear at that point. Plus, honored Nightfallen allows you to buy the 840 upgrade item, which is quite expensive but allows further upgrades, especially if your main has 500 Blood of Sargeras like mine.

The main issue is how unbalanced the remaining pieces are. The boots require revered with 2 reps, which would take TONS of grinding, and it is almost impossible to not get better boots before then since you have to do world quests for rep. The belt requires 100k AP spent, which even now with how fast AK scales on an alt I am not even 1/5 of the way towards. The shoulders though are the worst, Exalted Nightfallen is a real long-game kind of task, and unlikely to ever be done at all on most people's alts. For a set that seems almost made to help your alts out, this one piece is basically unobtainable on one.

So yea, the set was pointless on my main, but kind of nice on my alt to make a quick break to 810/825 to allow me to queue for heroics/LFR, but some of the pieces really make no sense at all, considering the set really seems to be mostly beneficial for alts.

Wait what? You can? How?

I have so many resources on my main, I don't need most of it (I've researched all I needed), I could use more on my alts.

I dont get it too, you can say you need it at the start but the WQs can gear you up faster than getting rep for the rest of the set when the time you get all the set you can be like 855 so noupe dont worth it outside the first two pieces, the gear upgrades are nice earlier too but I prefer to use the class resources into class hall upgrades like everyone mostly did at the start.

WQ gear scaling killed the class set at the start

The dinosaur before the eye boss in EN also mass fears. He dies fast and without problems though.

I got my legendary in a normal EN pug at Cenarius. The boss died and the item popped up. Sadly it was Sephuz's Secret, which quickly sapped any excitement I had.

About the class hall set, I used one or two pieces in the early days but quickly found better ones. I still can't buy the 850 shoulders since I'm not exhalted with Nightfallen, but I already have ones at 865 and 855 (with better stats) ilvl.

Very true, I think that trinket would be good for single while Appendages would be good for aoe fights.

Finished Mythic+8 for the first time this week. And then missed the +9 stone in time by 37 seconds. God damnit that fucking gauntlet in Black Rook Hold. D:

But boy, Sanguine + Overflowing may as well not exist at all. Easy EU week.

The only bad affix is Tyrannical. Hell, Fortified would be easy with those affixes. At least last week you could get into trouble real fast because of Skittish.

I think both Overflowing and especially Sanguine could be tuned up. Make the blood puddles a bit bigger, form almost instantly and heal/damage more. They aren't harmful enough compared to how easily they are avoided.

Sanguine is a joke if you have ranged DPS.

I'm really hoping for patch notes for 7.1.5 or at least general stuff they're changing for classes. I want to see what happens to surrender to madness and if holy gets changes at all. Not a big fan of healing as holy priest, I really like disc but man when your group just stands in shit so much atonement can not keep them up. Too many times I go into shadowmend spam which just isn't fun, that's what holy does and holy does it better.

Was fiddling with my 103 monk, healed a dungeon not having a clue what was going on but it just felt so much more satisfying to heal with. How is MW in mythic + and raids? I know resto Druid is king of 5 mans but I'm just not interested in the off specs of Druid right now.
