World of Warcraft |OT9| People still play this? Isn't it from 2004

Finally got in to tank LFR tonight, so disappointing to find that it drops 835 gear! I know LFR is ezmode, but 835 means you do it once for novelty and then just get better gear from 10 minutes of world quests ... what's the point :(

Been tough to find a group to do a normal with, I guess I'll try and work my way up some keystones instead, and I guess Kara.

The gear treadmill just seems a bit out of whack right now to me, it doesn't seem to be worthwhile to do tiers of difficulty "in order", instead it seems you are encouraged to "skip" 1-2 tiers...

It's LFR. It's just there for those folk who are religiously opposed to raiding. It's very skippable and always should be.

Spent some time in normal ToV last night.

Odyn was a fun fight, but also quite easy. Guarm took us a lot longer since people kept dying to stupid stuff, but we eventually got him down too. That fight was super simple as melee, I think ranged had a lot more to watch out for.

We had to call it after Guarm, so I didn't get a chance to see Helya.
I feel like I've heard this one before.
What if they weren't even relevant initially?

One day I realized that sadness is just another word for not enough coffee.
Lmao, a shaman rezzing our warlock in Arcway 6 accidentally recalled because he bound recall next to rez.

We were scrambling to summon him back via lock. Cost us the 3 chest when we went over time by 25 seconds. What a clown show.

Legendaries. Both of mine, own different toons, have come from LFR.

Yeah, that's the truth of it.

But these are the same people that feel new Kara is a success, reforging wouldn't solve anything and keystone affixes turned out out fine so I don't know what I expected them to say.

Reforging is stupid, Kara is a good dungeon with bad loot, and keystone affixes aren't remotely balanced but they add some variety. Happy?

And Professions are never relevant and shouldn't ever be unless they involve crafting mats you don't get from casual bullshit out in the world.

Looking for suggestions, then. We're getting the tentacles down on one pillar, moving to the other, getting those down, and then get killed by the repeated sea waves in the center.

I don't know if its because of our gear (overgearing normal pretty heavily), but we managed to loiter in the middle for a bit after clearing the first rise. We could put in a good amount of damage to them before the waves started again.

Don't think of this as faultless gospel though, our strats generally suck ass.

I make mistakes like that all of the time which is why I avoid grouped content.

At what average character ilvl does WQ rewards turn into 840+? My brand new lvl 110 warrior got 815+ rewards.

Just got my second legendary from a boss on my daily heroic.

Prydaz, Xavaric's Magnum Opus which is pretty shitty because it replaces my Versa/Crit with Mastery/Crit and doesn't provide any DPS boost, but I'll take it! Now I just have to wait 15 days for that research...

I don't think its there for anti-raiders, it's there for people who have trouble making the time for dedicated raiding in a guild. LFR should be a viable end game for people who can't/don't raid with a guild. Right now it isn't that because you can do better with world quests. And say what you will about the difficulty of LFR, WQ are far easier... but give disproportionately better gear. I've gotten 850's from WQ, why would I bother with LFR? My end game should be taking down a boss related (at least somewhat) to the story, not getting a lucky roll while skinning 10 bears. It seems like this should be reversed, WQ should let me gear up for heroics/LFR, instead the ease of WQ means heroics/LFR are basically one time affairs.

Anyway, that is only it's current state, I assume once the harder raids open up in LFR this will get sorted out as those drops will surpass WQ items.

(And not being able to do the questlines in LFR is, I think, a mistake. It makes it really hard for someone like me who enjoys the game, but has trouble raiding with a guild, to finish off those quests).

LFR has the same chance to give high level loot as WQs do, everything can titanforge (well except that LFR caps at 835 base and WQs go up to 845 base)

I just do LFR for AP and a chance at a legendary. I don't expect regular gear out of it, would rather get a participation token for the AP to be honest. Just turn off your brain and don't DC whatever you do.

Planning on tanking my first +7 tonight (HoV raging/volcanic) with a great group of irl friends I've been pushing mythics with. Pretty excited to take that next step with a second affix, shorter timers and phatter loots.

Any advice on volcanic? From what I've read it's essentially keep 1 dps at range and make sure they're good at gtfo of bad, and everyone else stacks?

And for people who would like to raid but haven't been able to find a guild that works with them on their schedule. Or they jive with personality wise. Or people who dont care one way or the other about "raiding" but would like to participate in the story of the game they've invested so much money into between software prices and on-going subs.

I'd love to be able to raid with a normal guild who does so on a schedule but /usually/ I find myself with an hour or so to play at a time. But on the occasion I find myself with an inordinately long amount of time to play in one session, I'm glad there's LFR to let me see the content first. Hand.

Not "religiously opposed" just doesn't work into my lifestyle generally at this point. Maybe that will change when I retire but that's about 10 years off so /shrug.

volcanic is annoying because it's unpredictable. Sometimes you'll go half a dungeon without ever having it target you, but then that makes you complacent and you get hit. It does about half your hp in damage. Also beware of bosses and pulls with a lot of adds. The end boss of Court of Stars for example spams them like crazy and you basically can't stop moving. Meanwhile Dargrul never casts it at all, near as I can tell. Halls of Valor should not be too bad for volcanic, there are very few large pulls and the bosses don't have much in the way of adds. I thought it would suck when hiding behind the aegis of aggramar during gud keeng skooooovaaahld but it never came up.

For the most part as a tank you can kinda just do what you were doing normally except watch your feet more carefully.

Halls of Valor is surprisingly not all that tough because all of the difficulty is frontloaded. The early pull with the dragon might require some CC to do safely depending on your gear. Hymdall is the hardest boss in the dungeon. If you don't already know, you can skip all of the mobs in front of Fenryr's entrance if you do him second - invisibility potion past them and then suicide after killing Fenryr to get back out front. You can skip the large pack of mobs in front of the two stormforged sentinels guarding the entrance to the last area with a beer mug.

Itemization is so dumb this expansion. I've gone down 4 item levels but pawn/simcraft has me gaining about 40% dps all together

Yep I'm ~881 in bags but my arms set is something like 868. If a piece doesn't have mastery, it's a bust. 840 > 890.

i'm absolutely certain that leather gear/accessories with haste and crit does not exist

hell, even gear with intellect and haste is hard enough to come by

I think Blizzard said they are going to address this.

It's especially problematic when you have to run things like Pawn/simcraft to check if it's an upgrade or not. If you get an 890 piece it should be an upgrade even if the secondary stats are the ones you need.

Has there been any other expansion where secondary stats trumped main stats?

I don't think so. I'm sure some class and specs maybe, but anything where an ilvl 890 was worse than an 840.

The flight plan I just filed with the agency list me, my men, Dr. Pavel here. But only one of you!
Saw a Blizz interview today: Apparently there's 1 guy in the world with every legendary. Nuts.

Every legendary for one class, or literally every legendary in the game for all 36 specs?

I'm a very casual player right now and I'm very confused how to earn more Artifact Points once I'm 110. Cause I'm doing world quests and they're like 300 each quests and I need thousands.

Pretty sure I'm doing something wrong.... any ideas?

I really miss the old glyph system, if only for some minor glyphs that got the axe and don't really fit with the new system. Things like the aquatic form swim speed buff glyph, or the Dreadsteed water walking one, or water walking in ghost wolf and astral recall to the earthshrine for shamans. I don't really mind the prune when it comes to combat stuff, but it really does feel bad losing some of the utility and convenience things. I also think the new system of "apply glyph to ability" is slightly more confusing than the old system, especially to remove glyphs. I'd love to see a new player figure out how to remove a glyph without looking it up, the old UI was more elegant (though I guess limited to 3 of a type).

Not really doing anything wrong. Make sure you do the 4 world quests from the daily emissary and turn in the quest in any given day, as the AP item you get from that is always pretty large. And of course make sure you always have Artifact Knowledge research going in your class hall and are using the AK item you get every 3-5 days.

If you have no inclination towards dungeons or PvP, then random WQ's and the daily cache award are going to be the bulk of your gains. Also, the bonus AP reward from AP class hall missions can be pretty substantial if you can get a mission well over 100% success.

You'll need to get Artifact Knowledge rolling. You can place work orders for them in your class hall, and each one will increase the amount of AP you receive from AP items.

Thanks for the info! Well, I can play every day but typically only an hour or two. I want to do dungeons but as dps the queue was just too long so I leveled a Blood DK. Trying to learn to tank and at least the queues pop fast.

Hmm, I gotta find the artifact knowledge place in the class hall then. Cause I don't think I've done that.

Thanks as well. Are those gains permanent? They stack per week?

I'm sure they are going to give it a good effort, but some of the weights are simply going to be an issue with some specs until certain elements get a significant redesign, and that's just not doable in these in-between patches. I'm sure they can curb it where it's less extreme, but it's going to be hard to meet that goal of 15 ilvls always being an upgrade.

I don't envy them. Scaling is always an issue. Even if they think they can get it down for ToV gear levels, it's bound to go out of wack again at Nighthold and above.

I've seen the interview about that but they have to be extremely careful about how and when they do that because all your fire mages, shadow priests, arms warriors, etc have built around their weird secondary scaling and if you emphasize primary stats again then you completely fuck them mid-raid

You know what frustrates players the most and makes them quit? Sudden sweeping changes that make them have ridiculously different dps one week than they had the last week.

Yes, and they are the single most important thing in the game when it comes to artfact power. If you haven't been keeping Artifact Knowledge research going since hitting 110, you've been fucking up big time.

Not necessarily true that 's a BIG fuck up. There are catch up mechanics. My Paladin hit 110 about 2-3 weeks after Legion came out and it's only 1-2 AK points behind my Shaman who hit 110 within 24 hours.

AK has catchup mechanics too. They should be getting 1-2 day work orders until they start to catchup to everyone else.

Ugh. Ok, dumb question...anyone know where in the DK class hall the artifact vendor is? Man, this is so different than vanilla where I just ran dungeons and a few world quests. In a good way though, I'm just gotta get on my grind and do it correctly.
