Ah wow I just realized. Someone was spamming lightning shield in Gorgrond and, along with noticing how annoying it sounded, I assumed they were doing it out of boredom or to be annoying. It makes more sense now.
 
If the game gets hung up on "retrieving character list" should I just click cancel? Or does it eventually make it through? I had finally made it through a five hour queue =[

Give it a couple minutes, I would then hit cancel and hope you don't get stuck back in Q. At this rate if I do not get in within the next hour or two I'm gonna call it. Servers coming down in like five hours anyways.
 
4k queue, I won't be getting in before the maintenance. So much for playing tonight.

Glad that they're upgrading hardware two days after launch. Dat foresight. Such planning.

But but, we didn't know it was gonna be like this...more like they didn't want to invest in server hardware unless they absolutely had to. Thanks for the $$, bye.

4k Q means you're looking at a solid 7-9hrs.

Really sucks cause it is killing the good time, really no longer hyped now. I'll still grind it out, but my friends/guildmates are already 97+.

'We didn't know we'd be so successful' is a pretty good problem to have. Rumblings were saying that the new server upgrades are going to let them phase the fuck out of high pop servers, so hopefully that'll be a big boost.

I'm not getting my hopes up at this point.
 
i was 4k in queue at 2pm. its now 1030 and im still 800. i snapped a pic of my queue back during the mop launch and it was 1700. this is just crazy.

It feels weird that WoD has been out for almost two days and I've seen basically nothing. I was ready to marathon this shit Thursday night and today, but I wasn't even able to finish the intro questline in Tanaan.

Finally hit cancel and of course I'm back in a 2000 queue now lol.

Five hours waiting in the previous queue and I still won't get to play tonight =[

It is because they lowered the amount of people allowed in the game the other day. They did this because they screwed up with all of the planning, phasing, garrison, 90 boosts, etc.

Yeah, I can see it being big.

1) While 10 million active subs is where they once stood, 100 million accounts have been made over the course of the game's history. Who knows how many could come back to scope things a bit?
2) I have seen a lot of people saying they were coming back after a long time.
3) 10th anniversary. Just seems like an important/good time to check it out again.
4) Blizzard has been growing. They've made core games more accessible to the masses, and made an extremely accessible game in Hearthstone. Many people may be like myself, ready to check it out for the first time since they've been more into Blizzard.
5) Boosting this, the new Battle.net is a pretty smart ad. If you own one main game, you're always being enticed to the other three.
6) They JUST had BlizzCon. Media attention for WoD has been huge.
7) Free lvl90 boost is an invitation to long time players to instantly try a finished build they never did before for no work, or for new players to feel less intimidated by the idea of jumping in with long time players.

Just seems like a perfect storm to me. It will be interesting to see the actual numbers.

So yesterday I've waited in line for my server, 2500 people. I've fallen asleep before it got to me... And now, in the morning, the servers are down.

I think i've played like an hour after the first, instanced intro to Draenor. It sucks really hard.
 
All I can say is, over 5 hours in 'queue' first day (I'm on a very highly populate server even before expansion dropped), and I've just waited 4 more hours for the 'free transfer' after playing for as long as I could stay awake before I realised today that it was going to be even longer so now i'm on the 'low pop' server which has also been capped and have been waiting for 2.5 hours so far.

Pretty poor I have to say for a game that's had so many 'launches' alone and a company that has launched so many huge titles now.. I can't see how they could have gone so wrong haha. It's Baffling.

Isn't it great that people sacrifice being on a high pop server or the eventually transfer fee back so they can actually play the game.... can't actually play the game? Especially when it was made much more appealing this time around with an initial free transfer. Transfer fee later on for no reason or stuck on a server with a bad economy and nothing going on.

Yeah, it's no fun grinding levels alone. I blitzed Burning when it came out, I was one of the first to max out, but it was really boring. Wrath I did it with friends and had way more fun.

Nod, and my friends have honestly been really cool about it. Been told, hey man, I'll level another character with you. Which is nice and all, but then I'm the one dragging them down and they are trying to rush through. They know where to go and what to do, part of the fun of leveling a new MMO/Expansion is that first experience when it is all new.

I will not be able to log on till 7pm tomorrow right back in the shit.
 
My CE finally shipped yesterday. I won't get it before the 18, but at least it seems like I'm not missing much so far. Hopefully by the time I receive it everything is fixed.
 
So is it more beneficial to have professions you don't have on your toon at your garrison? Or do you use professions you have to get the extra advantages? I assume the extra advantages would be nice, so I went with the tailoring and enchanting plots, and the barn for leather (to help with tailoring).
 
Poop. I used the Hearthstone Strategy Guide on Shadow Hunter Rala and it replaced his Herbalism ability....I wanted that.

That fix they are talking about looks promising at least. Fucking Ncsoft did multiple server instances with Aion when that launched 5 fucking years ago and it worked perfectly to counter the initial load.
 
I didn't get to play at all yesterday. My server had a 4,000+ queue in the middle of the day and when I tried to log on to another server I got constant "Character not found" or "That character already exists". Hopefully the maintenance today allows more players into the game.
 
Well shit..I might set an alarm for 3:30am for when maintenance ends, move to my garrison and set a keyboard macro to walk back and forth and go back to bed..Queues are rediculous and maintenance times at Aus peak on Aus servers is fucking stupid.
 
Almost done with Spire of Arak, 26% done toward lvl 100. Time to grab some rest. Will wake up after today maintenance fresh and ready to finish leveling and then the gearing begins :)
 
Can someone friend request me then invite me to a group to see if phasing to your server (Not Kargath or Norgannon) fixes a bugged quest for me?

Edit: Nevermind, servers going soon anyway.
 
Went to sleep this morning when the servers went down for maintenance at 4am, just woke up and logged in... to 1300th in queue. Could be worse, I guess.
 
I'm averaging about 2.5 hours per level. I'm at 98 now, so I should hopefully hit 100 before 6 pm tomorrow.

The quests were a lot more fun in mop but the story is a lot more relevant in wod

I wake up, I try to log in, no wait time no nothing. I log in on my character, the first message within a second that I got: [SERVER] Shutdown in 15:00

What a joke.
