im kind of upset, i really, really liked the design of the new tower. i just want them to start building it, this is gonna be a huge setback.

This is what I've been saying since 9/12/2001 Let's see where this goes... I'm rather disappointed this has gotten nowhere, I could see how for some people it's almost insulting that they haven't gotten their act together and started work on this.

I actually thought the redesign of the new tower was neat, but out of the second round (the first round of sketches were all absolutely terrible and so generic), the one I liked the best was the "double helix" model, of the two towers that looked like they were bending and merging into one another.

if they're not going to use it for business, then just put a couple marble slabs there and a flag pole. no sense in wasting money for some luxurious tower if it isn't going to serve a purpose.

They just need more time to perfect the lazer cannon they're going to put on top.

Edit: reading the article I bet this is also has to do with getting tennants. "We redesigned it to make it even more safe!" will be put on the advertisments.

Some people tend to be of the opinion that having exact replacements will numb the memory of what happened.

Really though they were just like 2 giant blocks.....surely someone can come up with something nice looking.

I'm in favor of nothing in its place. Just as the Towers were part of the character of New York (albeit ugly), that they're gone now is as well.

And that design is hideous. Just awful. Forced remembrance.

I was not very fond of the current design for Freedom Tower, hopefully they will take this chance to come up with something truly unique.

The Twins are gone for good and not coming back however.
