WORLDS UNITE - SEGA x CAPCOM (Archie Comics) as a Successor to UMVC3?

So there's a few things I want to point out...

The Marvel vs Capcom series is most likely dead from here on out due to Marvel being Marvel and them not knowing how to handle their properties in the gaming realm (well specifically fighting games).

Not sure what Ryota Niitsuma is up to either, but it would be a shame to see Capcom (eighting) to let that beautiful UMVC3 engine and style of gameplay to go to waste... Specially with the popularity of fighting games right now!

So it seems that everyone loves their megaman, specially when it comes to him being in fighting games (unless you are in the club that hates zero and everything he might have done to umvc3) Hes been in SFxT and even recently Smash Bros, so hes kind of a thing. To be honest, I'd like to see Sonic in a decent fighting game (outside of Smash) and personally I'd love to see a game come from Sega and Capcom, specifically a fighter! (Although I could be okay with a Project X Zone Style game too, but I think that's a namco thing)...

Would you guys support this if it was a thing? Basically a UMVC3 (Or maybe Tatsunoko vs Capcom) style fighting game centered around the story in the Archie comics Sonic x Megaman Worlds Collide or more recently Worlds Unite (which features other Sega and Capcom Characters).

I'd buy a million copies, just like I did with UMVC and Smash Bros... Cross-overs sell, I think the turnout for this comic series was pretty positive too, but a game would kill me, I could end my gaming life happy with a good fighting game made off this story.

I don't think SEGA's roster is quite on par with Capcom's. I mean, they would likely ignore all the good candidates for a slew of Sonic characters.

Bahn, Dural, Janet and other badass' would get ignored for Amy, and Big the Cat.

I disagree, it comes down to the developers and how interesting they could make the fighters. Remember marvel was specific about what characters they wanted to promote specific games... Capcom selected characters that where actually fun to develop.

I doubt Sega would be using characters like Big for any reason at all... Sega has a ton of old RPG games they could use, I'd die if they ended up using some of the crazy and unique characters they have from the old days.

Sega has a broad history of characters, don't be fooled.

Well, a Project Ecks Zone-style game with just Sega and Capcom instead of Sega and Capcom and Namco doesn't make any sense to me. :P

SEGA has the roster, due to all the IPs they own, I do understand your concern about which characters they'd greenlight for a cross-over.

The SEGA lineup would basically just be everyone from the Sonic & All Stars Racing series.
But I would never oppose a project that would include more Megaman.

Point is I feel a huge opportunity is missed if they don't make a game if this series happens to be even more popular than the last cross over comic.

A RPG would be cool (as stated thats more of namco's formula) but I'd prefer a fighter.

I'm well aware of there roster. There are some wonderful contenders out there. However, I am looking at SEGA now, and how they have mishandled absolute everything they own for decades now. I wouldn't put it pass them to mess something like that up.

This is my concern.

I know they do, but I don't see them actually using any of them.
I like Sega, but I don't really believe in them.

But they used Valkyria Chronicles characters in a game like Dengeki Bunko. I think for a genuine cross-over FG, they could pull some really cool stuff.

I'd be down for this but only if Sega doubles down hard on old stuff versus making it Sonic and Friends vs. Capcom.

Gimmie dat Beat/Gum, AiAi, Ulala, Ristar, Nights, Vyse and Billy Hatcher.

Edit: Aw shit, Valkryia Chronicles characters

I'd like some OG Phantasy Star representation, but I'm almost positive they'd just throw in some popular PSO2 class and call it a day.

Sega has an amazing stable of characters. Perhaps the most diverse, creative, and varied of any gaming company. The problem is it would just become Sonic and his shitty friends vs Capcom.

I think Sega's roster is better than Capcom's. They have a vault of great characters to choose from.

That would be awesome. Only downside is they couldn't possibly include every cool Sega choice.

Thanks to this idea and how it was presented, I will now be up all night. So lets brainstorm:

Capcom has a diverse lineup of current mascot-tier characters that have a following worldwide. SEGA not so much because many franchises have fallen by the wayside, but they have a few.

I won't speculate on the gameplay, but I'd be happy if they took UMvC3's engine exactly and changed three things: Tone X-Factor down, Make incoming characters able to choose what side they jump in on, and get rid of the air tag 'bonus' properties.

For Capcom, we know the MegaMan series, Devil May Cry, Resident Evil, Monster Hunter, and Street Fighter properties will get huge recognition. Capcom has every right to reuse many characters from UMvC3, and reuse some of those movesets already created for some of the Marvel characters that have to be replaced.

For Sega, we will definitely get Sonic, Someone from Yakuza, and a Phantasy Star representative. Those are the only really active franchises Sega has right now. I think we should also get a character representative from House of the Dead and Jet Set Radio, because those franchises are still relevant to many Sega fans. And of course, the Shinobi, Altered Beast, and Reala/Nights should also get recognition to fully round out the cast since those games could only realistically add one character anyway. If Sega can get their hands on Bayonetta, then YES, but I think the rights to those characters are mired with Platinum Games

And I would die a happy man.

I don't even wanna think about this....because its too perfect.

We could get spin-off mini-games too....a simple beat em up Streets of Rage x Final Fight.
