WORLDS UNITE - SEGA x CAPCOM (Archie Comics) as a Successor to UMVC3?

and the rest is space channel 5, skies of arcadia, shenmue, samba de amigo, Alex Kidd, jet set radio, crazy taxi, shinobi, nights, golden axe and monkey ball

so...?
the cast of that game is still pretty diluted with silly characters from PC franchises over other sega characters but this is dumb and a non issue, a crossover with capcom would be awesome, as long as there is no football manager :E

a good quarter of the cast are weird characters like Football Manager or the samurai representing shogun

You mean awesome, yes. And you seemed to forget Ralph, Gen Winter, and TF2 guys.
This time Attila can join the party.
----------------------------
I know Sega don't own Miku... but it might be interesting. Just saying.

Personally I thought all of those additions were crap, would have rather had more sega characters like billy

I was originally speaking to SEGA's mishandling of franchises as of late, and I wouldn't trust them to pick a well rounded group to represent SEGA. And it would be instead, Sonic & Friends vs. Capcom as someone put it earlier.

again ignoring any of the crossovers they've done recently, good job

the last two fighting game crossovers they did were dangeki bunko and fighters Megamix and neither had sonic
go fish

Fighters Megamix, a game I adore was 19 years ago. Dengeki Bunko was only published by SEGA, and literally features one two playable SEGA characters. Neither lend any weight to whatever angle you are on, right now.

So... no actual Archie characters?

okay so the recent examples of sega crossovers aren't relevant because they're not fighters and the fighting crossovers aren't relevant because they're not recent
and you're probably sticking to your guns that a rhetorical crossover would be overrun by sonic characters despite that not happening ever

ty jaeger for your insight

My face would fucking explode in happiness if this happened.

Besides the obvious Alex Kidd and Nights being must haves in the game, I would love to see J.J. from Zillion make a return as a range fighter, as well as some form of Dark Force from the PS series as a heavy.

Sega has so much great IP for a game like this.

Oh, and Joe from Shinobi and Eswat Cop guy and Death Adder from Golden Axe and....

My whole statement about how I feel about SEGA today, not 19 years ago. And the recent game wasn't even developed by SEGA. What are you talking about right now, oneida! First, when did it become criminal to have an opinion about this that obviously doesn't jive with yours?

Have you slept today, sir?

like they did with PxZ and SaSRT right? what are you even basing this on

Despite the plethora of great franchises Sega has in it's catalog, it seems the current Sega only concentrate on a few, especially Sonic. I mean you come out with like 20 Sonic games and no Shenmue, Phantasy Star 5(offline) or Streets of Rage after heavy fan demand and the mild success of Yakuza and PSOnline? Seems like I am not the only one in the thread that feels that it will be dominated by Sonic characters and a handful of others. A few Virtual Fighters will probably make it in at least. I would be very surprised if we saw characters form games like Golden Axe, Streets of Rage, Shinobi, Eternal Champions, etc. Hey, you guys want Shenmue 3? Eh? Nah, take another Sonic game. I mean how would people like Nintendo if all of the divisions only came out with traditional Mario games with the occasional Zelda nowadays?

PxZ wasn't developed by sega, no, but who is saying this is? and SaSRT was and the majority of that roster is legacy characters from the DC to the SMS. there's no crime in having an opinion, but reconsidering yours isn't criminal either. you're deliberately ignoring evidence that refutes your opinion and instead basing it on nothing

You are ignoring evidence of SEGA's horrible business tendencies in the past decade or so, and appear to have a personal vendetta against people who don't think too fondly of modern day SEGA. I didn't say anything about SaSRT, either. Mostly because I've never played it. I have played witness to SEGA's numerous crappy Sonic games, though. Don't know when I am able to have a position in this subject that gets your approval, or why you are in need of giving it.

For the sake for conversation, I will acknowledge I am surprised they didn't toss Sonic in Dengeki, or half the cast of SaSRT being Sonic characters. Still doesn't change the fact that I feel SEGA would miss characters I'd personally like to see in a cross-up with Capcom.

SEGA does not have enough memorable characters compared to Capcom. SEGA sometimes uses the Daytona car as a character to fill the gap.

i am not convicting you, I'm challenging your claim because i was pleased with the rosters of every sega crossover and find your opinion entirely unfounded.

They do what they do because of what they think will sell(rightly or wrongly) not because they somehow hate the franchises of the past. Its not a vendetta, your taking it too personally. We're likely never getting a new entry in the franchises most of the characters and backgrounds in Sonic Transformed came from but they were still in there.

Also to pick up on another issue in this thread I liked things like Football manager being added to Transformed as its kinda a Sega tradition to include random characters like that. Its the company that put a car in a fighting game.

If they do this my main team would be Axel Stone/Ryo Hazuki/Kazuma Kiryu and I wouldn't touch anyone else. Well, maybe if they put the sadistic RaCast Risa/Lisa, Zeno, and Rupika from PSO2, and Hotsuma, and Welkin, and Alicia, and...

I don't think I'm taking anything "personally". I just don't have much faith in SEGA, as of today. Partially based on reasons you just stated.

Maybe that's where the issue is right now. I'm looking at SEGA Corp, while you are looking at a very small portion of titles that (at least by rosters standards) have not disappointed you. I'm simply not confident enough in SEGA as a business to do a crossover fighter with Capcom proper due. I feel suits will keep desirable or worthy picks out of the equation. Mostly because those same picks' own games have been disregarded and forgotten, themselves.

I totally understand being disappointed about the titles which sega decides to publish, and it's a solid reason for not expecting sega x capcom to ever happen. but if it were to happen, I feel that there is more than enough evidence to be confident that the sega roster would be really great. those suits had no qualms about dynamite deka in PxZ or Alex Kidd in SaSRT

I think with the roster that with the exception of a few standouts (it would likely have to have Sonic) I suspect if such a game got made the decisions would be more based a lot on who the developer of the game thinks will be fun to implement. I feel like that's how a lot of the Marvel inclusions got decided, were Marvel really demanding that Shuma-Gorath be in so many games.

I'd be down.

While SF5 is going to be great, Capcom's VS. series is likely due for a comeback of some sort, as well. And short of Marvel or SNKP being available dance partners again, they could do much "worse" than teaming up with Sega, and having Ryu, Akira, Sonic and Megaman be the posterboys for this product.

Honestly, I hope you are right. What I truly desire is a SEGA that would do the opposite of what I have come to expect. All my life, SEGA has hit me with let downs. I've been with them since the SMS. The Saturn is still my all time favorite console. And so on. I'm just used to being let down when it comes to them. For every Sonic Adventure, Fighters Megamix, there's a Sonic (2006) and "...we're going mobile only" right around the corner.

I digress, I hope the more happy, Good Ending turns up (if this Wunderproject) ever surfaced. It would be a mighty feat, and would certainly sell bajillions.

That would be awesome. I would love to see Vectorman for instances return. This would be a great way to shine a light on older franchises. Push compilations and Virtual Console/Live/PSN releases and make new titles all in one stride due to the renewed interest in the games.

i don't care what ip they use.

i don't care if it's teletubbies versus my little pony.

i will buy any new versus game.

I just want the alt-costumes of all the AM2-based characters to look like the low-poly models (model 1/2) from the games which they were based.

So you were never hype. Got it.

The sad thing is, the game I want this to be would have to be directed by Niitsuma, who is already very busy doing things that I don't care about.

Niitsuma is probably the only person at Capcom who'd direct something like this anyway. Do we know what he's currently doing? He's not doing Capcom All-Stars, and neither is he working on Marvel 4 or Tatsunoko 2.

Why would anyone believe this would become Sonic Vs Capcom?

Pretty much anyone with any influence on this mythical project (Capcom, etc) is going to say "lolno" to an all-Sonic cast. Even if Sega swallowed 20 kilos of stupid pills there's no way they'd make the suggestion in the first place.

a good quarter of the cast are weird characters like Football Manager or the samurai representing shogun

Football manager, General Winters, the Shogun and TF2 were exclusive for the Steam Version because the first 3 are from best selling games from sega in the PC while TF2 was the PC's exclusive character (like Miis on nintedo's platforms, Avatars in 360).

They aren't weird at all.

No more licensed crossovers, please.

Capcom needs something with in-house IPs only they would be able to support long-term. These contracts are never open-ended, so support dies off much quicker and eventually abandoned. Capcom has too many good properties for a versus-style fighter they could build upon for years to go outside of their catalog.
