WORLDS UNITE - SEGA x CAPCOM (Archie Comics) as a Successor to UMVC3?

Once again I will ask that a "Project X Zone crossover fighter" featuring Namco Bandai, Sega, and Capcom gets made.

thx

edit: I would totally expect to see a lot of early franchises/classic franchises from both/all sides cut. A smaller roster than MVC3, even.

Must have character.

No one mentioned Persona yet, either. A couple of characters from that series would be appropriate, too.

Persona? Excuse my ignorance, but what claim would SEGA or Capcom have to that franchise?

EDIT - Wow. I must have missed a whole decade or gaming news.

if by some miracle the stars align and Sega vs. Capcom happens I'll be there day zero.

would main a Streets of Rage character tho

edit: or the Daytona car pictured above, I suppose.

Kazuma Kiryu, Sam Gideon, Bayonetta, Gilius Thunderhead, Joe Musashi etc. Lots of good stuff in the SEGA vaults.

I am down for it. SEGA characters are much better than the Marvel ones. NiGHTS should totally be playable or else no buy, though. Keep Persona out of it also, please.

Sega has no characters I'd care about in a fighting game, it'll be like Playstation all stars all over again.

Capcom would be better off just making a Capcom Vs Capcom game.
They should also go back and re-visit a lot of their old IP and start making good games again. Would love to see a Darkstalkers on PS4, hopefully that series wont stay dead.

We need Sega's greatest fighter:

SEGATA SANSHIRO
I was just wondering who would round out my Kiryu/Gene brawler team. Perfect.

Capcom needs to MOVE on the Vs. property. Marvel 3 came out at the perfect time to ramp up the series popularity on Marvel Studio's coattails, and a properly positioned followup could use that momentum even without the license. Sega is the (second) best choice I can think of (after ArcSys). But, uh, I don't know if I trust them to be hands-off enough. Concerns voiced about Capcom Vs. Sonic are perfectly valid, if you ask me.

WORLDS UNITE

That's a pretty dope title.

Shoot, if it was a game, I'd buy it, assuming they aren't filling Sega's roster with a bunch sonic characters.

CAPCOM - 21 :
Retain from UMvC3:
Arthur (Improve Armor mechanic)
Firebrand
Zero
Strider
Morrigan (Lilith alt)
Haggar
Chun Li
Ryu/Evil Ryu (takes place of Akuma, flippable like Shiek/Zelda in Smash, Sakura/Dark Sakura alt)
C Viper
Dante
Vergil
Chris Redfield
Wesker

New:
MegaMan, Similar to Shuma Gorath and Rocket Raccoon
Ada Wong, equipped with hookshot. Maybe similar to Hawkeye and Bionic Commando
Leon Kennedy with Knife and rocket launcher
Male Hunter, heavy armor (Female heavy armor alt)
Female hunter, lighter armor with felyne (Male with light armor and felyne alt)
Dr Wily in robot, giant character similar to Sentinel
Jedah, Just because he's the best character Capcom ever had. He can replace Magneto and Iron Man.
M Bison, to play like a less crazy Phoenix

Sega - 21:
Sonic, as a rushdown character with specials being akin to his various powerups. Maybe similar play as Felicia (Shadow/Mechasonic alt)
Knuckles, although I cant think of what you could do to his character to make it interesting, but he's popular so, sure. Maybe replacing X23/Spidey?
Dr Robotnik, like a fixed MODOK
Chaos like a fixed Nemesis (Giant dark Chao alt)
Amy Rose could play like Tron Bonne. I hate her character so if she's a no I wouldn't mind.
Nights/Reala(alt) as a ranged, Trish like character
Shinobi (Musashi) could be a good Taskmaster foil
Beat/Gum(alt) as a stand on for Wolverine
A boss from House of The Dead would be amazing. I recommend The Magician since he's the most popular and would fit perfectly
Kazuma (Yakuza, Alt: Ryo from Shenmue) could probably be a good pummeler character like SheHulk/Iron Fist
Dural with various moves from the Virtua Fighter series could seriously fit in well, like a Hulk and Captain America mixed
Altered Beast with the wolf transformation. Noone seriously remembers the other transformations. Save them for supers or something
Death Adder, seriously could play like Soki from TvC
Space Harrier to play like Saki/Roll from Tatsunoko vs Capcom
HUnewearl - rushdown character with tons of traps and techniques
FOmarl - space control character similar to Dormammu
RAcast - Brawler esque character with decent speed and ranged options
Bayonetta - Could play like a combination of Deadpool and Dr Doom. She's best equipped to fill those boots and provide comic relief
Shiva (Streets of Rage) - I always felt like Juri and Maki/Guy could fit in Marvel 3 with some tweaks. Give him a barrel throw or other projectile to move in and I think he'd be a great candidate and exciting to watch and fight Haggar
Vyse - Already plays a big role in comic, I believe. It'd be great to have a character similar to one of my favorites from Tatsunoko vs Capcom and I could see him fitting a few movesets from that game. Should be easy to fit into one character who could fit
Yu Narukami - Persona 4/Ultimax main character. Has a sword and a good moveset already from P4U. Could replace with the Persona 5 protagonist, but we don't know much about the character.

God I'd love a SEGA vs. Capcom. They just better not snub Phantasy Star again. I have no idea why they keep skipping over it for crossovers. Alis, Nei, Red Ring Rico, whoever. Just put PS in there.

A SEGA X CAPCOM fighting game would be awesome!

I have a LOT more affinity for SEGA than for Marvel, so it would be a dream come true. Especially if it'd have gameplay like Power Stone.

Just think of all the cool matchups:

Sonic vs Mega Man
Eggman vs Dr. Wily
Akira Yuki vs Ryu
Pai Chan vs Chun-Li
Joe Musashi vs Strider Hiryu
Axel Stone vs Cody
Blaze Fielding vs Poison
Max Thunder vs Haggar
Bayonetta vs Dante
Rent-A-Hero vs Captain Commando
Space Harrier vs Forgotten Worlds soldier
Gillius Thunderhead vs Arthur
Wonder Boy vs Maximo
Alex Kidd vs SonSon
E-SWAT cop vs Bionic Commando
Ryo Hazuki vs Batsu
Bahn vs Daigo
Altered Beast centurion vs Jon Talbain
Omochao vs Servbot

Sega vs Capcom would be my dream game. It would be hard for me to be disappointed with any roster as those where my big two publishers growing up...unless the Sega side was just Sonic characters.

In for Bayonetta vs Dante.

The problem is we're talking about a collab between maybe two of the most untrustable software houses.

I think this would be a good combo. Sega may not have a roster as good as marvel but it the core gameplay is the same and they use their best characters it will be great.

Capcom could even recycle a few Marvel characters for the Sega roster. For starters a certain boss from The Revenge of Shinobi.

As long as the Sonic roster would be restricted to Sonic, Tails and Robotnik, I'd be super on board with this.
Most of the assets from UMvC3 are probably reusable, and the Capcom side is near perfect as it is. Just switch out a few characters, say Viper for Juri/Poison, Chris for Leon and Jill for Ada/Claire/Regina, and bring in long-awaited characters like Gene, Ryu and Nina (BoF), and maybe Monster Hunter, Sengoku Basara, Onimusha reps. And of course Sissel from Ghost Trick. Maybe SonSon or Amingo would be cool to see again.

Not a huge Sega fan, but the basic roster from Sonic All-Stars Racing Transformed, with some redundancies like Shadow, Amy, Reala, MiiMii, Pudding, AGES, Metal Sonic removed, and bring in Bayo, Sam Gideon (Jack is probably more likely though), one or two SMT/Persona reps, Joe, Orta, Agent G, Segata Sanshiro, and of course some arcade classics and Virtua Fighter reps. Actually I really want this now.
If they hope to make it a franchise, the first game could have around 40 characters, and then Ultimate or whatever could have around 60.

I don't think SEGA's roster is quite on par with Capcom's. I mean, they would likely ignore all the good candidates for a slew of Sonic characters.

Bahn, Dural, Janet and other badass' would get ignored for Amy, and Big the Cat.

I actually agree. I know Sega has the franchises and the characters for a great cross over, but I really think they would neglect the majority of their characters in their past games.

like they did with PxZ and SaSRT right? what are you even basing this on

As much as I'd want this it would be painful seeing another "Sega" crossover game with half of Sega's cast being sonic characters.

Sega has great characters (far more than fucking first party Sony, for the record) and posts like this shows people's lack of knowledge to their amazing catalog of games and characters.

Project X Zone didn't have any Sonic related stuff in it at all, so I wouldn't be too worried.
Unless my feverish mind is imagining things

a good quarter of the cast are weird characters like Football Manager or the samurai representing shogun
and the rest is space channel 5, skies of arcadia, shenmue, samba de amigo, Alex Kidd, jet set radio, crazy taxi, shinobi, nights, golden axe and monkey ball

so...?

SaSRT is a terrible example of sega ignoring their legacy franchises
