I agree.. they should swap screens on this. or at least give analog aiming.

and great use of the second screen. two screens FTW.

Seriously, with Worms? It would totally out-balance the gameplay. This game is all about taking your sorry changes with digital aiming baby.

Looks good! Truly in the vein of the classic Worms games. Let us hope we can use the map on the bottom to scroll around the map quickly by just tapping or dragging around on it. And oh, releasing this game without any wifi whatsoever would be a crime. You hear me Team 17?! A crime!

Great looking game, but worst cover art ever.

This game demands wifi!!!

Cover looks great to me.

To the person who said he/she wanted touchscreen aiming, you used the mouse to change your angle? I always used the arrow keys.

In the other topic about Worms for PSP and DS the developer said they didn't have the tools provided to them for online for either system.

So, NO ONLINE.

Also, NO TOUCH SCREEN AIMING

That means, NO SALE

No online is excusable.
We have no idea if there is touch screen aiming or not, but even if there isn't, it will still be great.

However, if there is no good single cart multiplayer, NO SALE.

fuck. This was the first game that could have justified me buying the wifi adapter.

Is the source real/trustable?

I'm sure it is. I remember them saying no online way before the recent PSP thread.
I'm sure the sequel will have it, though.

I hate it when something could clearly be phenomenal is now doomed to "not really as great" worms is multiplayer, put it online or not at all. god just beg the people that made tony hawks for help or something.

Some of the team (and/or those close to them) post on the Team 17 forums. They laid it down a while back that there'd be no online.

Single card multiplayer and hot-seat (multiplayer using 1 DS, and passing it round) are BOTH in.

Really awesome single cart multiplayer would put a giant SOLD stamp on it for me. ;)

So many good times with Worms on the DC..

that's nice and all, but it burns me because nobody I know even owns a ds. :(

also hot seat multi will be borked anyway, part of the joy of worms is "don't shoot me you dick!" but you can't all see the ds screen so.....

ah well, I'll give them props for making something that looks excellent anyway. they should really delay it though.

My interest went from must buy to 'who cares' when I saw that its not online. I have no interest in fighting cpu worms for the 1301930th times in the series. The pc version of worms that had online support was a blast.

No online, no sale

N-Gage version looks better (the worms at least) and iirc it was online. kinda pathetic.... even worse is of course I'll end up buying it.

Well, instead of "sliding" your "X" icon for aiming when you want to use the bazooka per example, you could simply touch the screen at the exact place you want to shoot.

Eh, that would really spoil the game though. How much fun would it be if everyone always hit their targets 100% of the time? You'd need almost no skill.

No, the real loss here is no online. If this game isn't going to be delayed to add it there better be a sequel.

Shit sorry, it's not for the bazooka but other weapon that you had to place the X somewhere like the Airstrike and other bomb like weapons.

Oh and of course the real loss is the lack of online. The stylus wouldn't do much for Worms

Oh oh oh, right, I see what you mean. Sorry, misunderstood you. I guess the touch screen would be convenient for those kinds of weapons.

True I did always use the keypad...

And now I read the post above I did use the mouse for airstrikes etc!

it would be great if as soon as you would choose the weapon the screens would swap. and with "select" you could swap them again if you wanted to change the weapon.

From one of the Team17 guys on their forums:

For DS, the same situation was present, i.e. lack of usable libraries and actual methodology via Nintendo at the time of development (the DS version is in final throes before submission too). I know Mario Kart has wireless, but the small point of this being driven by Nintendo (and all the support that musters) should be enough information as to why we didnt' have it.

I also note that Nintendo are bemoaning that many players are quitting when losing and there's nothing you can do - and nothing to repremand the players that do it.

:eyeroll

So it seems they never heard of Tony Hawks American Sk8land? And besides, when a player leaves, just pass all the points to the players who are still present. Mario Kart works that way too. It's not that hard really.

Nice to see this on DS, its not one of those 'perfect for DS' games, but it is a perfect game for the handheld market imo.

Solutions for the disconnectiong problem:
When you go online, the game sets a save that "you are online and started a game" So when you switch off the game (or lose connection which should be really rare compared to intentional droppers) and switch it on again, the game sees the "I was online"- save and punishes you with losses or "bad connection"-points in your stats. When you regularly end an online game, the "online" status is erased.

Then when you play someone online and have to quit, you set a "reason for quitting" and when the other player approves that reason, you can quit without losing points or something.

I liked Scorched Earth.

Worms always felt like a shallow clone of Scorched Earth... I'll try it again when they release an online version for the DS, though.
