Worst game endings...(This generation)

Just finished KOTOR 2 and...what a freaking joke! 12 seconds of CGI that really shows nothing; no Revan, no worlds or space ships being destroyed, no signs that I was really evil! The first games Dark Side ending was great, this was a slap in the face.

Anyway, so this got me thinking about the worst game endings for this generation. See above for mine, totally not worth the time I spend playing. Bioware should have made KOTOR 2 instead of Jade Empire, IMO. What do you guys consider the worst?

And if anybody says ICO....well, whatever I'd do is going to be bad. :D

Halo 2 (technically... the game didn't even have an ending at all :lol )
FFX (everything was perfect till after the credit roll)

The recent Indiana Jones game (from The Collective). I loved the game, but the ending was about as bad as you can get.

Star Ocean 3

Not only the ending, the entire DVD2 ¬¬

The hell? That rocked! Awesome twist and an ultra long ending. A bit dull at times, I suppose, but I enjoyed it.

I have prevented every person I know from playing that game because the twist is just..that..lame. I tell them I'm going to ruin the game, I explain the twist. Without fail every person has said to me "thats lame, thanks for warning me." And they never play the game.

Halo 2
Psi-Ops
Enter the Matrix (the ending is a fucking trailer for The Matrix Revolution for chrissakes)
Ratchet & Clank: Going Commando

Dare I say, XIII...not that it was a bad ending. Just that it ended in a to be continued I just know there will never be a next part...so that really sucks.

Ignore demi. Psychonauts has a couple really awesome levels in the middle-to-latter half of the game. The first half is largely mediocre (but pretty) and the last level is a game-ruiner.

I say check it out when it drops in price a bit. Just don't play the last level. It's not worth it. You'll think of the entire game in a negative light after that travesty.

Star Ocean 3 is miles above any other game mentioned here as far as bad endings are concerned. Not that the rest of the game was any good either.

How can people complain about KOTOR2's ending? The ending in any game is MORE than just whatever little CGI movie they show at the end. At the final confrontation with Kreia, you can find out what happened to EVERYBODY in the game! I don't know why people always associate the ending of a game with whatever pre-renederd movie is there.

KOTOR2. Did Halo 2's ending suck? Sure. KOTOR 2's ending is so massively fucking worse its not even funny. There are not enough languages on Earth to properly convey how bad KOTOR2's ending is.

People play games for endings now? Did I miss the memo where gameplay and fun were tossed out the window?

Halo 2 didn't have an ending.. it had a "to be continued" Haven't you people ever watched the Back to the Future movies? :p

Endings are supposed to bring closure, and wrap up a good amount of loose threads in the plot at least to the point where players feel "rewarded" for having finished a game.

The entire end sequence of KOTOR2 was butchered to the point of where it didn't flow well at all, nor did what was leftover make any sense whatsoever. There were things that happened without any explanation

an example (if memory serves) :
Mira beats the wookie, walks into the temple at the end, and then her entire plot is dropped right there

Star Wars itself is a very visual experience, what should have happened was they should have shown you what happened after, instead of having
Kreia deliver a long winded speech where you can ask her what happens

To be entirely fair though, Obsidian did have a pretty tear jerking ending planned originally(there's a group of modders trying to put it all back in I think), but most of it was butchered and what was left didn't really make much sense nor did it make for a good ending.

It's hard to pick one that stands out, because so many games this generation have a stupid little end that offers no closure and instead sets up a sequel that often never happens, leaving a bad taste in your mouth.

Super Mario Sunshine

And just an aside, don't listen to any of these folks. Psychonauts is rated 90%. It looks great. It's funny. It's original. And Advent Rising is buggy as hell from what I understand. demi is just playing with you.

Thank you.

Awesome little game, but the entire final hour or so was just pissing in my eye.

Wait, I'm not a reporter with mad kung fu, but really some mystical magic lady who can ressurect pigs by touch? Fuck what a god damn stupid way to end that game. Really really lame.

Nanostray's ending features the ship flying around in a circle! This is a shocking plot twist revealing that the pilot was drunk the entire game! :D Luckily it has no story anyway, so it doesn't really matter. It still was the most terrible ending I've seen since the 8 bit days.

Republic Commando. Sets up a extremely cool mission, complete with a briefing from Yoda, and an unresolved issue with a team mate -- then it just ends...

I had hoped that some downloadable content would be released alongside "Revenge of the Sith", but didn't happen.
