Would you be happy if we wouldn't have any photorealistic games?

Photorealism would be great if I wanted to get myself immersed and lost in a game world. Imagine a much more realistic Cyberpunk 2077

Sometimes I also like super stylized games like Persona 5 or Metaphor. Having options is great in life

RPG without Photorealism? Sure!
Racing games without Photoreailsm? Hell no!
Open worlds without? It depends
Platforms? Astrobot is almost Photorealistic in some way..

And so on...

Did it give you the same feeling as watching a regular horror movie or was it more of a suspense movie? Or was it just creepy styled?

Oh yeah, never answered the question. I would be happy since most of the games I play aren't photorealistic anyways. Then again what exactly is considered photorealistic. Is Devil May Cry or Bloodborne photorealistic? Is FF7 remake?
Definitely the same feeling as a horror movie. There were some episodes where I did truly felt creeped out. I'd pay good money for a horror game with a Junji Ito artstyle.

Back in the late 90s that looked "almost" photorealistic to us all rofl, not even joking here, we were genuinely lauging at our pc bros- and bashing them for not having such a pristine quality 3d photorealistic graphics.

Oh I remember. When I played Rise of the Robots back in 1994 I said to my brother "OK this is it.. Games can't possibly ever look better than this!"

I remember saying that a couple of times again, when playing Phantasmagoria for example.

I want variety, not all games having to be one style or another.
But in some hypothetical scenario where I have to choose between every game going for a realistic art style vs every game having a more stylized look I'd definitely choose the stylized one.

Doesn't matter, in one or two generations max, or even integrated into TVs directly, we'll be able to remaster and restyle any content we display on it.

This sort of stuff will be done realtime soon:

They need a few tools to further improve coherence/consistency, but it'll get there.

Game devs could massively reduce costs by making much cheaper pre HD era graphics games, and then having ai bring it up to code.

Don't like realistic looking last of us? Make it into an anime at the flip of a switch. Or vice versa.
