Would you want to be famous?

I would like to be famous for being falsely accused of something, go through hell for a few years, then they find out I had nothing to do with it and set free. They want to feel sorry for it, and I say "fuck you, too late".

I just want to blend into a crowd and be seen as a normal and kind person.

What is the opposite of famous, anyway?
Whatever it is, I'll take that. :)

As a kid I wanted to be this famous rockstar and play guitar on stage for thousands every night. To me that was the GOAT lifestyle. Now that I’ve played in some local bands/started my own bands and have a few failed albums under my belt (lol) I’ve grown to become pretty content being a nobody/hobbyist with a few hundred followers and working a normal 9-5.

I’d like the money for sure, but being famous has so much negativity and there’s a dark side to it. People forget that we’re basically animals, and wouldn’t it be really weird if there was a popular fish in the sea that all the other fish gravitated towards and tried to be around? That fish would fear for its safety having attracted an absurd amount of much attention.

I believe many celebrities never saw themselves in a position where they’d rich and famous, it kind of just happened by meeting the right person with the right connections at the right time, or a catchy single blowing up overnight. They never wanted the fame and for many it destroys them (drug addiction, financial stress, poor relationship and marriage decisions leading to divorce, social media cancel culture stuff involving crazy fans, paparazzi following them around 24/7, lack of privacy)

People are getting famous for the most ridiculous reasons. In my country and I kid you not and you can google this. We have a famous person who got famous for because one video of him pronouncing “Small Cappuccino” weird got viral. That is it. I am talking getting featured in songs and getting thousands of ads money and promoting products. What the actual fuck!! I don’t blame the dude he is getting rich and famous it is the mentality of the people.

Don't forget the dangerous fish looking to devour and replace the popular fish. That's what narcissists do, even if it's all in their head (the replace part, not destruction of others). You have to be strong and vigilant to ward off predators when you make a lot of noise and gain success. You hear all those stories about fake friends and backstabbers and celebrities going broke from helping everyone they thought cared about them. Who wants to deal with all that? Even striving to be super popular has a lot of drawbacks in regards to users and phonies hanging around and looking to gain at others' expense. And there's no money involved in that one!

I am pretty well known within a medium-large community that I work in, but I live in another community where I have relative anonymity. The exception to that is I've been identified as an "asset" to a real estate business because of people I know, so I get brought into this circle of very wealthy people who I don't know at all, and I have to awkwardly socialize with them as they tell me about their, "You just have to go to the Maldives" experiences.

I hold one of those #3. classic community positions, so if I go into the store, I might be stopped 2-4 times within the first few aisles of the store, but as I disappear towards the back it doesn't happen as much; particularly since I wear a mask.

It's not that bad, and I get to be a bit of a role model to younger people as to a profession they could be in in the future. Honestly, talking to other members of the community is great, and is worth the small inconvenience, and if they're talking to me it means I probably have impacted them in a positive way.
I love the town I live in for its outdoor resources, it's a much smaller town [I wanted this], and its proximity to the mountains, but it feels like I'm just walking around in a store of people who don't matter to my life.
