What the hell? I thought they were just gonna give info, but apparently it's gonna be playable there (according to the official wow site)

Im sad about it...cause im sure its gonna add something totaly cool that i just HAVE to have...and im allready really wanting to play it again with them making my Feral Druid more usefull and perhaps even get into groups !

If they add new races then count me in. Maybe have a new faction other then Alliance or Horde that could be considered as a Neutral faction or some such. Have maybe Naga, Pandarians, Blood Elves, and some other race. Also have a new set of classes to go along with these new races. That would be really cool. Ofcourse I know this probably won't happen but it would definitely make me wanna start up WoW again.

This little article about hidden stuff in WoW would seem to possibly suggest Naga as one race (buildings made from shell spirals).

....dont they have enough money for now geezus...they are gonna be fuggin mega rich , of course vivendi their slave masters wont sell them now, lucky whores they wanted to dump blizz so bad.

You also get a ticket to a Blizzard beta test...Which will most likely be the WoW Expansion so not only will you play it at BlizzCon you'll most likely beta test it.

I'm very interested to see how Blizzard is going to handle the WoW Expansion...Will it just add on to the existing game like a patch, or will you need to load it up almost like a totally different game? What do most MMO's usually do?

I think most handle it like a huge ass patch. I think WoW will be no different. The only "expansion" I can think of that loads up as a totally different game will be the upcoming City of Villians.

you usualy load it up like a totaly differant game, most expansions have there own Icon, that loads up everything in that expansion, and before it. how blizzard will do it is another story :P

Huh? Sure the icon changes, but usually they just patch up the original game up new data and shit.

Centaurs as a race!

I hope it's awesome. Can anyone explain how other MMORPG's (Everquest for example) have handled their expansions? In terms of raising level caps, new areas, new items, how do they keep certain things restricted to expansion buyers only while letting non expansion buyers still play the game?

My guess is that all of the new areas will be on seperate continents, which will require the expansion pack to reach. I'd assume that all the new weapons/items will be viewable by non-expantion pack players, but since most of the new weapons/armor will be Bind On Pickup and drop only on the new continents, those without the pack will never get to actually use the vast majority of them. The same goes for all new classes and races.

All I know is that my tired mind can rest from the nonstop speculation regarding what Bliz would include in an expansion.

That 1up article isn't helping. :lol

DAoC has differant folders for each expansion, differant Icons for each one too, you can choose to load it up in classic, Shrouded Isle, Trials of Atlantis or Darkness Rising anytime you want.

only MMO ive played past the main game though, not sure how others work.

What about the dungeons that they added? Was that stuff that was already installed and the patched merely unlocked them or were they added entirely through the patch download?

About it being playable at Blizzcon? I heard nothing of the sort anywhere before today.

I've known about it, but only because of NDA. I don't think the info was public until today.

Ahh ok.

Only DAoC does that. Every other MMO just adds the content to the existing game and you just launch it as normal.

EQ usually added new graphics to the launchpad and a new loading screen for each expansion (and EQII did that with Desert of Flames and will probably do it with expansions 2 and 3 next year), but the content was just added to the game and not a separate game at all.

I heard something about Blood Elves before. I was in Uldaman during the time getting my ass kicked by Troggs... :D But I remember someone saying something about it.

ahh.. i didnt know that :). The way DAoC does it seems good to me though, but i guess most other games arent so directly based on PvP that using differant clients is usefull. the expansion i forgot, Catacombs can be pretty hard to run on some peoples systems, they can run it well enough for PvE to get all the fancy new things ...but come time for PvP, when the game needs to have hundreds of people on screen sometimes, plus castles, and all the spell effects, and all that jazz it can make the game a slide show...so people just load up in an older client and play RvR that way.

That whole thing wouldnt do much for WoW, since a lot of the PvP is held everywhere, and not just in certain zones :P

well there are places on the map world map that you still can't get into...well not suppsed to get into.

I can see them opening the Cavenrs of Time, the blue portal in SW which in an EARLY interview they siad wasfor player housing (ugh) I just hope they make a reasont o play AV again. AB is fun but is nothing like AV, and well on my server at least AV is dead.

I just hope it comes out soon.

If it comes out in the spring; there will be two EQII expansions on the market, a CoH Expansion/Standalone (CoV), and D&D Online as well as anything they add to Guild Wars.

If it doesn't come out until next fall; there would be three EQII expansions on the market, D&D Online, Lord of the Rings Online, and Vanguard.

The word on the street is that there's one new race per faction and one unique class per faction to go with that new race.

alot of warcraft elite dont want pandarens because they are an easter egg race, or joke character. After looking at retarded ass taurens fall at my feet all day i dont see how it can get any goofier.

blood elf possible if not probable, goblins..nope they will remain nuetral and have no intrest in the alliance vs horde conflict....ironicly neither do most people on even the pvp servers. Maybe i should change my name to Ragnaros or Netherion and ill get some action.

My theory for the goblins is that the gnomes, which are their counterparts are alliance, so one would expect the goblins to be horde, just the horde that bridges the gap like the gnome guys in Booty Bay/Ratchet:P

..well goblin sappers were allied with the horde in WC2 but the CM's already answered this on the wow boards and said goblins will remain nuetral.

In the WoW Pen and Paper RPG, the 2 races playable there that are not in Wow today are:

Blood (High) Elves & Goblins.

Classes that are in the RPG and not in the Game are:

Necromancer
Barbarian
Scout
Tinker

Prestige Classes in the RPG are:

Archmage
Assassin
Beastmaster
Berserker
Duelist
Ranger
Fel Sworn (oh hell yeah)
Gladiator
Infiltrator
Mounted Warrior (Not Likely)

Well damn, I guess it would make sense that they would have mirroring classes/races:)

I don't think there'll be a tinker, but Barbarian(ANOTHER HORDE PLATE CLASS PLEASE?^_^) and either Necro or Scout seems likely, hehe.

Goblins can be made a playable race for the Horde. We're playing a game that's advancing the Warcraft storyline, not staying stuck in it.

How hard would it be for a new faction within the goblin ranks to declare allegiance to the Horde? Similar to how there are 3,000 (exaggeration) factions for Trolls, it would not be hard to create a new one for the Goblins.

I don't care about new races or classes. What I want is Hero classes or for Blizz to raise the lvl limit, or just anything that will allow a player to advance their character at lvl 60 (other than equipment).

Why so shocked?

This is an expansion, not a sequal - all that's required to make it 'playable' is to have some of the new content installed on a machine running WoW. And consdering how easy WoW seems to be to develop for (just look at all the new stuff they've added to the game over the past ten months) I don't see any reason why the expansion wouldn't be ready for the holidays. Just look at Everquest II. It's first expansion came out early last month, ten months after the game was released - WoW has now been out ten and a half months.
