Cut jobs in our intelligence agencies? At the anemic rate Trump is "adding" jobs, can he really afford to do that?

i wouldn't be shocked if the CIA is full of fluffy jobs since they don't get audited and get constant cutbacks like other agencies, look how police world wide have been having to hire civilians/"community police" to do paperwork and non skilled jobs in police stations.
I'm sorry, what does the first half of your statement have to do with the second half?

Surely he means the FBI and Comey for acting so blatantly politically, and dooming the world to suffer the horror and indignity of the situation we now find ourselves in...

Even if the CIA WAS politicized and super corrupt and all that. . .Trump is the man I would trust the least to reform it.

Yikes.

This is Trump being the petty, vindictive, coward he always has been.... again.

The CIA was right but he'll fire people and support Assange before he admits he was is a puppet... which is exactly what a puppet should do.

Not to burst any bubbles, but the CIA doesn't have the clout it used to and the initial proposal is exactly what many even in the agency have been harping on for going on twenty years now:

People are setting themselves up for disappointment yet again if they think that this won't happen or that the CIA has some magical anti-Trump data drop they can unleash to protect their bureaucratic prerogatives.

I figured there was more to this than just some Trumpian impetus. Are there any sources you could share on the move to "decentralize" the CIA for lack of a better word?

God. What makes me maddest is, when the inevitable terror attack does happen (and it'll probably be a worse one with our intelligence agencies demolished), he'll just turn and use it as an excuse to crack down harder on Islam. And people will applaud him for it.

Yeah, dismantle the country you were chosen to govern, just the way your sugar-daddy told you, you stupid fucking puppet.

What's Trump is doing is petty and kinda scary honestly, but the fact that the executive branch has control over the CIA is not a bad thing.
The US government had a ton of problems controlling the CIA in the past, and it hurt American interest greatly and repeatedly (not to mention involved a whole lot of murder and just generally awful things). Multiple times, presidents (and to some degree Congress) had to pretty much wipe the leadership slate clean to get the CIA under control. The executive branch needs this power, it is important one, and if anything, I think it should be strengthened.
Now, do I feel comfortable with Trump wielding that power?
Hell no, but I don't feel comfortable with him wielding nukes either. The issue is the candidate.

I suppose yea, I've really only been afraid of a President being too powerful when I know I can't trust the President.

Doesn't help that the upcoming US President is also just kind of an ignorant idiot.

I mean really, is there any realistic hope of halting this leaderships agenda?

No, not unless he does something to royally piss off the GOP lead Congress and they start blocking him. But his agendas aren't far off from most of their own, so they don't care.

I really don't know how anyone can have any real hope for America's future after this. We keep saying 4 years of, or 8 years of, but Trump is looking to completely destroy the system, and the GOP is going to be right there to rebuild it even if he's not. I'm genuinely scared we're at the end of America. I don't know how the country can survive this.

I can't even put into words how angry this makes me. This guy is being so damn blatant with this crap. He's seriously looking like he wants to turn the country into a place where there is absolutely zero descent from his own personal view, and if anyone or anything displeases him, he lashes out in ways that are petty and satisfying only to him, even if it potentially means serious damage to the country. Every concern or fear that was uttered about why this clown is unfit to be President of the United States, is actually coming true.

The thing is, it hardly took much convincing for the Republican party to get onboard with his agenda. Even if we had a Democratic presidency, half of the two-party system operating in this fashion just can't work.

Most of the CIA is 9-5, sure are ton of overpaid people there, these people dont magically make USA safe by normal boring office work.

I swear this man is every Captain America plot rolled into one guy. If he has a cosmic cube and a desert bunker full of nazi mechs powered by norse mythology I'm fleeing civilization.

I don't know if I'll ever truly be able to forgive the people who voted for Donald Trump for what they have done. I would maybe if Trump had not been so completely transparent about what he is, but he was almost startlingly so, and none of this shit is surprising in the least. Just...fuck all of them. I don't care what their reasons were, they fucked us, and they could very well of put us on a path to the end of the Republic and into dark fascism.

You would think.

But this is America.

I wouldn't be surprised to find out that folks in these places love Trump and some how think he will be the best for them.

Nothing matters. Anything is possible. All rules gone.
From a journalist on twitter apparently the foreign intelligence services were pretty fond of Clinton, since they'd worked with her before when she was SecState, while factions in the FBI were all in for Trump and hated Clinton.

The added irony here is that the major terrorist attack this facilitates will occur in a major, predominantly liberal city and kill people who voted against him. The added added irony is that his brutish, knuckle-dragging response to said terrorist attack will help him get re-elected.
All he needs to do now is fund and arm the terrorists and he'll have an infallible master plan that can't help but succeed.

Don't forget to disown and condemn the folks who didn't vote at all. They're just as guilty.

So he's bitter the CIA "undermined" his presidency, so he wants to get back at them. This dude is a fucking man baby.

This country is literally falling into Russia's hands if half the shit Trump wants to do gets done.

We just need to hope that in two years Democrats take back a majority and in that time nothing bad actually happens.

it's becoming like Russia. Trump and his alt-Reich posse see Putin and his kleptocracy as a role model.

Trump will be removing any individuals and institutions that are able to challenge him.

The CIA obviously has stuff on him or he wouldn't feel threatened by them. First discredit then dismantle.

We just need to hope that in two years Democrats take back a majority and in that time nothing bad actually happens.

Assuming that the election process will be fair

I'm setting the over/under on how many months before it's revealed he ordered an intelligence agency to spy on his political opponents at 18.

I do condemn them as well, but I disagree they're just as guilty. They could have prevented it, but they didn't push the button for it. Actual Trump voters first and foremost will always get the blunt of my disgust because they actively supported it.

Not really. It was part of his 'drain the swamp' platform. Expect to hear bout EPA cuts, Department of Education cuts, and others in short order.

What you seem to be forgetting is that in this whole mess, they've basically set it up for Trump to set the agenda on cyber security (The Government's failure to do anything in regards to this until Trump won highlights this), election reform (to prevent hacking/manipulation of voting; this helps Republicans btw) and other stuff. He makes strides in those areas, he will see gains and get re-elected. He is coming into power, after all.

From a journalist on twitter apparently the foreign intelligence services were pretty fond of Clinton, since they'd worked with her before when she was SecState, while factions in the FBI were all in for Trump and hated Clinton.

Still, given how it all shook down. I expect nothing less than full bowing and boot kissing.

Seems insane, hard to imagine we live in this country where everyone bows down to this man. But seems like we do.

Every large organization has fat it can trim, news at 11. That's far from the full extent of the "revamp" being proposed here.

And I'm not sure how you propose for the intelligence agencies to sift through reams of data other than by hiring people to sit at desks for roughly 8 hrs a day...amazing the variety of jobs you can accomplish on a PC these days while it all just looks like "boring office work" from the outside looking in.

this is an act of a tyrant and I really shouldn't be shocked given Trump's admiration of Putin but it sickens me to the core how low this mad man would go.

American Erdogan sounds about right if Erdogan was a moron.

gg USA, we (EU) will try and keep the world in balance after your decline, someone has to keep an eye on Russian and Chinese influence, respectively.

I feel read scared about living in California now.

I always wondered if conservatives truly realize that facts have a liberal basis. Progress is inevitable in the end. Our human survival is dependent on evolution and creating an environment of collaboration among different cultures.

Its not even about reality having a liberal bias.

Climate science collects data. If the data suggests there is need to act, and it does suggest that, some actions will be inherently political.

NSA, CIA and Co spy on terrorists other goverments etc. And these results are given to politicians. Like the whereabouts of bin Laden.

All these things are inherently political. Not doing anything is political. And dangerous.

I wouldn't count the OIG as an auditing agency as they are not independent and answer to the director of the CIA

All audits brief the agency's management to get agreements on their recommendations.

They answer to the Deputy IG and the IG's assistance director.

That's gonna be a really bad look for him if terrorist attacks on US soil continue becoming more prevalent

They will continue and become even more brazen if Trump gets his way.

Then he will of course blame Democrats for not allowing him more power or blame the previous administration for what they apparently didn't do (the whole "radical Islamic terrorism" semantic as if that makes a difference).

If people of courage in Congress don't stand up and call for impeachment immediately, we will see every worst case scenario be a possible reality.

He's gonna primarily blame Obama and Clinton for his entire term.

I wake up every day in disbelief that the American people elected this fucking guy. I'm sure after hearing about the protests that will be happening the day after inauguration, he's got a plan to deal with the "traitors" as well. Scary times when a 70 year old child can have such a devastating effect on such a powerful country.

Trump is going to be extremely disappointed when he learns that the intelligence gathering technology and espionage tools showcased in the Mission Impossible film series, don't exist IRL.

Don't need the CIA when you have the KGB.

Either that or Trump thinks he will singlehandedly replace the CIA with his "very good brain."
