WTF!? Zoo Keeper has a story!

So I was going for my usual high score attempt on Normal Mode of Zoo Keeper on the DS. The high score off the shelf is 1.2 million and with a few narrow escapes I managed to pass it. I was cruising along, chaining my ass off, then all of a sudden Clear! WTF!? I just finished Zoo Keeper!? Then there's an ending sequence telling the story (I think this is how it goes...)

Some guy who owns a zoo, lovingly tending to all the animals, gets his wife up the duff and when the kid has grown up a bit, the father decides to put him in charge of taking care of the animals. In other words, you are the kid, and the father is that Hitler guy who keeps shouting at you, while paying you peanuts. At the end of the story he bursts into tears and apologises for treating him like shit... and he'll make a statue of you and put it next to his.
The end!

My score was about 1.5 million.

You didn't know it had a story? the boss (please read JR's spoiler for the inside scoop on the badass boss) f*cking rocks!!

I've been too addicted to Quest and Time Attack mode to have a good go at normal Zoo Keeper mode.

FreakyFink's Hi-Scores
Quest - 26240
Time attack - 795770

How's everyone else holding up in these modes?

At this point, it's worth noting I received my first piece of hate mail for giving Zoo Keeper a B+, the sender citing that Zoo Keeper was shit and truly hardcore puzzle fans would import Lumines.

A lot of the times I enjoy the wacky stories thrown into odd game ideas more than the serious game stories. I love Katamari's story and whatever the hell was going on in Blaster Master. Froggie!

I don't have my B to E dictionary handy, but I'm going to assume "up the duff" means to get someone pregnant?
See, you're catching on. You'll be speaking British English like it's your native language in no time :lol

how odd, I did the same thing last night. I don't have my score handy but I think it was comparable.

How do you do so well in Quest mode? I always screw up on the #9 thing and my points are reduced by half.

My girlfriend got over 30,000 in Quest Mode. Once she heard about Jonny's high score, she set about getting the top score in each mode. She's pretty determined. :p

I got 900,000 last night in Normal mode, only to have it not save my high score because i accidentally continued. :p It turned out I was accidentally playing on HARD difficulty though, so I turned it back to the default level today.

Oh, I smell a challenge. Hard mode, you say... let me see about that :)

I did this last night, but the game stopped as soon as I hit 1.2 million. ended up at like 1,202,000 and it just cut into the ending. very touching but I wanted to play more.

This game is really cool. I think it's the best game on DS. I'm not saying Zoo Keeper is a better game than Mario 64, etc. but it's more compelling this time 'round. Partly it's because the DS library stinks, but it's also just a great great puzzle game that has little, charming aspects to it. Super addictive.

Zoo Keeper and Catch! Touch! Yoshi! are my two favorite DS games. Zoo Keeper is really, REALLY addictive and fun for a puzzler, and it works great with the stylus.

Hate the fact that my girlfriend is far better than me tho, despite the fact that I've probably played it twice as much as she had. I told her about Jonny's achievement and she was like "let me see," and like an hour later she'd topped my high scores in every single mode. :p
