Wu Chang Hype Check?

She / They

Anyone hyped for this one? Stellar blade gang assembling? Black Myth Wukong posse turnt up?

I'm slightly optimistic it could be good…

I'm personally a little burned out on non-From Soulslike games, but I hope people enjoy this. It looks neat.

I think it looks fun. Meaty looking combat and nice eye candy. Also, on Game Pass so no-brainer for me to try.

If this one of those "Souls-like" (I hate word so much) I have zero interest.

The only type of Souls games I play developed by FROM.

I may check it out at some point. Khazan was enough Souls-like for me in 2025.

Every other new game now is a Souls, Souls-lite, Souls-less derivatives.
There was actually a pretty good variety of games previewed this summer, check these threads out to see them:

Counting those showcases, and SGF, there were only 9-ish Soulslikes announced out of the many games shown. Hope this helps.

Looks like UE5 slop. The trailer looks decent, but when you look at the actual uncut gameplay, it's pretty bleh. Phantom Blade 0 and Beast of Reincarnation are the two that i am interested in.

But the Wuchang dev better not bend over, and add difficulty. And if it's just an action game like DMC, difficulty option makes sense, but then do it from the beginning instead of waiting for the game to do poorly in sales, and then add it out of desperation.

China is flooding the zone with Soulslikes and they are going to create a lot of gamer fatigue even among people who live for and worships Soulslikes

Based on gameplay systems it seems more like a spectacle fighter then a soulslike. Especially with stamina use only for defensive actions and special moves, resource for magic abilities, Madness and Inner Demon system, defenses based around gear, and skill points for skill trees/weapon traits instead of a stat dump system.

And the setting is intriguing. Looks like a good time.

Is it just me, or do all Chinese big-budget games share the same art department?
Wuxia/XIanxia/Ancient China is just the western equivalent of castles, dragons and knights as a setting, see one of them and you have seen them all.

Its on gamepass so I'll play it, not
Hoping for much but I've been there many times and got pleasantly surprised

I'm definitely going to try it. Pretty much totally over soulslikes. Sometimes one will surprise me and compel me to keep playing though like Lies of P. Not hyped but I'll give it a fair shot.

I'm super hyped for this one. But other factors besides this game has contributed to my hype. As I haven't been gaming much lately and just ordered a high end gaming PC.
Can't wait to play this, Hell is us, Cronos, MGS Delta, Silent Hill f and Nioh 3 this and early next year!

This is the next big hit. That's my prediction. Could be wrong but not only does it look very good, but is also cheap. I expect a nice CCU thread where people will be surprised about it doing extremely well, not me though. I expect it.

It helps that it is also a Chinese developer. I wouldn't be surprised if Chinese gamers back it in full force, even if its just decent, like Wu Kong

Speaking of Stellar Blade, this game also has a good variety of outfits in it too (around 3:50 in the video):

There will be more on release too.

How many times is the guy from IGN in the video going to bring up "the fan service and some of the "risque" outfits he could do without". Go play something else then or just fuck off

I would say that Black Myth Wukong is definitely a tier above decent. But different strokes for different folks I guess.

watching this closely. potential day one buy if steam reviews are decent.

From the thread responses, looks like people are burned out of soulsbornes. The rest of us fans are still here.

For me this has been the least interesting of the recent thematically similar Chinese titles. None of the trailers/footage I've seen seemed particularly interesting or creative.

Maybe its just the way its been promoted, but the truth is there's so much competition in the genre right now it doesn't greatly inspire investigation.

It doesn't look bad, but I'm getting a bit tired of these samey looking action games with very similar "magical ancient China/Japan" setting and theme
