Someone gotta tell the Asian devs to calm down with the Soulslikes, they are going to completely saturate the market

Man, after finishing BM Wukong, Lords of the fallen, Lies of P and now going through Khazan, the samey-ness and formula has really started to get long in the tooth for me - and especially those that rely on perfect parrying like Lies of P and Khazan aka "perfect parry simulators"...

Now, those that rely more on the atmosphere and exploration (Wukong/Lords of the fallen) are OK with me but the ones that rely more on the combat and parry...I've found them to get really tiring (Nioh/Khazan) since the level design devolves into basically rooms with 0 atmosphere where they only serve as a means to reach the end level boss (where you're gonna spend half an afternoon in trying to beat it).

Khazan especially...I've never fallen so quickly outta love with a game, it's basically another perfect parry simulator with the most basic, arcade-y and super boring level design of the last few years (even worse than Nioh's I'd say) that serves - you guessed it - as "filler " just to reach the next boss, it's just feels like a slog at this point.

This summer is all about Death stranding 2 for me.

I mean, you don't have to play every Souls-like as soon as it comes out. Toss it on the wishlist and check it out later.

Game looks good though. And i don't see anything else around it (yet) that interests me so I'll likely be there day 1.

Didn't this already come out?

Wuchang?
WoLong?
Black Myth Wukong>
Sekiro?
Rise of Ronin?
AC Shadows
Ghosts of Tsushima
oh....and Ghost of Yotei

Come up with something new

Gameplay wise doesn't look anything special, it's soulslike.
I'm digging the characters and costumes cool art, if the story is decent i may end up playing it.

Do you mix up the type of games you play? I've played or am going to eventually play through all of those games but would never play through them one after another.

I always mix 'em up NT, it's just that every dev and their grandmas are making souls-likes these days...

I get it, people can't get enough of them and from a business standpoint it makes sense - someone already said in here that Souls-likes are FPS's of the X360 era something which I'm in agreement with.

My personal opinion ? FROM has done more harm than good the fact that EVERY action game is a...RPG nowadays is just fookin' bullshit - take Khazan for example, the game would have worked so much better as a pure, character action game and not the usual "wait for your stamina bar to refill to continue the awesome®", then again, people love their bullshit min-maxing and watching bars and numbers go down (or up) so what do I know ?

Anyway, I'm gonna finish up Khazan and then I'm done with this genre until Phantom blade 0 shows up, I had enough of this repetition.

Cheers

The music maaaaan. Asian developers really stepping up their game and knows whats important about games: FUN!

I really get 2000's vibe from this game and that's a good thing for me.

I've been watching this game for a while now, and I'll definitely pick it up. Glad to have a release date.
