Interesting change. It makes sense that the clicking sound would change with adjustments to the hardware then.

Edit: Yes it does! As an even further test while a YouTube video was in PIP, I opened up iTunes and started a song, taking an AirPod out paused both the song and the video and resumed both when put back in. Then I took one out, quit iTunes, put it back in, and YouTube in PIP resumed like nothing ever happened
And just for you I downloaded VLC and it doesn't seem to work, but I didn't mess with any setting and didn't use it for very long

Yeah, I also saw they got rid of silent click. That's a shame.
I actually do hear a very subtle difference between click settings. I'm sure I'll get used to it.
The keyboard though is much better.

I think he just means that it's bound to change over the course of the beta process. Although personally I don't think it should, what's the point of using an inferior format? External services and devices will only see the JPEG version anyway, might as well use the better format IQ/storage wise internally.

Ok cool, I was wondering exactly that about the Homepod.
Excel's touch UI is an absolute embarrassment compared to Numbers. Obviously Excel is more capable overall, but in just basic navigation and operation of a workbook and sheet I can't believe MS is given a pass on Excel outside of the classic desktop interface.

So Im trying to send feedback via the Feedback app for iOS 11, and it asks if I wanna send feedback on iOS 9 or 10, but not 11 lol.
My issue was it seemed like Touch ID wasnt as responsive when unlocking the phone. Sometimes I have to hold my finger there and click the home button sometimes several times before it finally opens up. Im on a 6s.

this dev beta is VERY laggy. definitely file the feedback if you can, but yeah.. everything on my 7 takes like a split second longer now. I've just chalked it up to the general background stuff of the beta hogging resources.
Yeah thats what I assumed, as well. Should I just file it under iOS 10 beta and Make clear Im actually using the iOS 11 beta? Just seemed weird I didnt have an iOS 11 beta option when filing feedback.

You can send them anonymous phone data with your feedback that lets them see what version of iOS youre on.
The lag issue was pretty bad with the developer beta of iOS 10 as well. I forget how many betas it took to smooth out, but it happened fairly quickly.

Thank god for that last part. It was annoying getting bombarded with it every time I opened some apps.
I was able to upload my resume using my iPhone on ios10 on most websites.
When I tap the area to initiate upload, iCloud Drive menu slides up and from there I can even select my Google Drive (which is where my resume sits). Select the relevant file then hit that upload button!
So should have no worries doing this on an iPad.
I sold my early 2016 13" rMBP a few months ago, was going to pick up a windows gaming laptop but they're all so ugly and bulky. Then I figured I don't actually do much gaming on the move and I don't want a gimped experience playing my games. Mostly watch Netflix etc. Browse the web. Do some light spreadsheet work and docs work. With these new iPad Pros that's a spot on replacement. So I'm going for it

Really struggling on which computer to get for the wife.
These are my options, all the entry-level 12" Macbook, 256GB model, prices after tax.
Apple Store 2016 Refurb Macbook - $1,118.35
Best Buy 2016 Macbook - $1,207.24
Best Buy 2017 Macbook - $1,316.99
Apple Store 2017 Macbook - $1,370.78
Of course with Best Buy I'd be getting back 5% in store credit rewards, which isn't anything to sneeze at, which is basically $55 on the 2016 model and $60 on the 2017 model.
Of course I could also apply for an Apple credit card and get their rewards, which would get me $25 right away and get me most of the way towards a second $25 gift card.
I guess the big question comes down to whether or not the 2017 updates are worthwhile. That 2016 refurb for $1,118.35 is damn tempting, but if If it's worth the extra $200 to move up to the 2017 model ($140 if you want to account for store rewards) I'll do that instead.

My dad just got a new 2016 Macbook for $950 at Bestbuy a few weeks ago. I'd wait until they go on sale again.

Do not install this beta on iPhone 6. It's nearly an iPhone 4 / iOS7 situation where the phone is made borderline unusable due to performance degradation. I've disabled the transitions which has helped a little, but still, this is bad. I hope things don't stay this way with future betas, as I kind of need this phone for development as well as for daily use.
Just to illustrate, with the default transitions enabled, it takes about three seconds from pressing the home button, until the app is minimised, then the same amount of time until it's re-opened. I'm talking about the app already loaded, I am just switching in and out of it.

they never stay this way. I'm not saying there won't be a performance hit.. but first couple of dev betas have pretty noticeable performance hits. It's usually shortly before the first public beta that performance gets closer to normal.

My guess is Tuesday since that is when I am getting mine in the mail. It's basically slightly bigger and less bezels, there is a video on youtube showing the 10.5 smart keyboard under a 9.7 ipad Pro, really puts into perspective just how bigger it is, which is slight:
For someone who wants a tablet to use around the house (or in bed browsing and watching videos), which size would you guys recommend? 10.5 or 12.9? This would be replacing my very old iPad 3. I mostly use my iPad for internet, email, pictures, videos, some gaming and app use. Don't take it out much at all.
Do yourself a favor and dodge the 12.9. It's needlessly large.

leaning toward (by the end of the year) an iMac and a 10.5" iPad. For development I'd love a MacBook Pro instead... but hate that you can only do a dual core in 13". If they had a quad 13" I would do that in a heartbeat. But I should be fine with an iMac for development at home and an iPad for everything else (minus development) while out and about.

The biggest differentiating factor is going to be the weight. 1.03 pounds versus 1.49 pounds and it makes a surprising amount of difference. Even when just leaving it at home I got sick of holding up the 12.9, then when I started using it for school is became a hassle to take to campus every day, so I switched to the 9.7 and havent regretted it at all
In the future I can see myself not owning a MacBook entirely. Id have a beefy iMac with an eGPU for games, and use an iPad as my mobile computer. This is something I didnt think would happen so quickly, yet here we are
probably because it's (now) the current one... and an iPad3 is borderline unusable (having gotten rid of mine last year, when it was already borderline unusable)
I've only ever run a hackintosh exactly because I dislike that on modern iMacs (last few years) you've always been hamstrung in GPU options without going to the 27" (and the cost that came with it). The announcement that High Sierra officially supports eGPUs and the entire(?) current AMD line pushed me over on iMac. Again, I'd love to actually own a quad MBP with an eGPU.. but apple has locked quads out of 13" (likely heat/power)
Better speaker system, better screen, larger screen- I could probably keep going

The easy answer is that I like the features of the Pro and I use my old ipad daily so I feel it's money well enough spent. Also like new tech toys as many of you here do.
For me I've been struggling with the decision of which size to get. One one hand the bigger screen would be really nice for video watching as well as video games and other apps that can utilize the bigger screen. My only concern is that I would feel like it's too big. I don't feel that way at all with my ipad 3 and well the dimensions for the 12.9 inch isn't THAT much bigger on paper but it's hard to say. Guess I'm going to need to research this a lot and wait for reviews hit before making my decision.
Also my eyes are not the best and I'm use to my big screen computer monitor (28 inch) and 50 inch 4K tv.
I don't know what type of development you do, but a dual core shouldn't limit you in general (unless you are compiling huge projects where you know you are going to be CPU bound). Plus you are describing two completely different workflows -- you can only develop when you sit down at your iMac, so the iPad would be mostly a consumption device. As long as that works for you it's fine but I've tried that and always come back to a MBP (either a 15 or now a 13) as it fits how I work better.

Well would the 'new ipad' for almost half the price of the 10.5 be an option? Personally the lack of laminated screen would be enough to put me off and if you can afford a pro then do it.
I'm wondering about a 12.9 (maybe a used or refurb OG to save money?) I only use my 9.7" pro at home on my lap or on the folded Smart Cover to browse the Internet or watch video, and the equivalent of a 13" TV sounds pretty good
Been deeply considering foregoing an upgrade to my long in the tooth MBP for an iPad Pro. The MBP will be there when I need it, and I'm picturing the potential of going more or less all in on the Pro. Lots of thinking between now and the time they'll be available in stores to touch and feel and compare the 2 sizes.

All my documents are saved to OneDrive on my computer, and iOS just grabs them from there.
