WWE 2K15 First Footage and Gameplay changes

He didn't get anything? I know he didn't get a special edition but I thought he got a cover art or something.

Macho Man Edition can be 2K17

8GB of RAM and they still need those dumb immersion breaking loading screens between ring entrances. Why?
One thing I miss from the RAW for Xbox series was that the entrance was part of the match-- seamless from ramp to ring-- and you could even interrupt it to start the match early.

Wondering if that R stick to escape thing when Orton's down is the old ring escape trait, or if it's something else. Like when you get up, you can roll to a different location to stop the opponent beating you back down or something.

it's probably ring escape

iirc you could roll in the direction you point your left stick when you get up in 2k14

It's most likely just ring escape.

You can roll away as you mentioned but you can only do that so much because it is based on your damage taken. Like I told 3kuSaS before, Yukes had the possum technique of staying down so the person can't grab you immediately but they removed it - not sure why. You can do that plus shield yourself in the AKI games, which apparently is just nostalgia!

You should have an option to stay down. But you can roll away. Im not sure how its done exactly i usually just mash button when im down and most of the time ill roll away. If you get hit with a big move you can't and that actually makes sense. And its not exactly a bad thing that you can get hit with another finisher right away after getting up this happens in wrestling all the time. Its pretty easy to reverse if someone goes for a finisher as soon as you get up though, its pretty predictable.

I've played probably more 2K14 than anyone on this board, with the exception of Striker, and what he says is the truth. When you get hit with a move, whether it's a finisher or not, and get pinned, you'll still be slow to get up after kicking out of that pin, allowing the person to grab you again for another move. Whether it's "realistic" or not shouldn't even come into consideration when I can suplex a guy through a flaming table and he literally hops up within three or four seconds of it. If a player kicks out of a finisher or whatever, he should not be grappled so easily as he's getting up.

God, you should have seen me playing Raw for the first time. I can create my entrance?! This is awesome. NOW MY MUSIC?! Holy balls, this is amazing. then during my entrance, I see the attack prompt and my brother hits it. "FUCK YES SO FUCKING GOOD".

...Then the actual match started. Dear god.

I hear DoR2 works now.

I hooked up the Game Cube version the other day and it still holds up well.

I finally got around to playing VPW2 the other day. Loving it.

Yeah, been playing it on my Wii U with the Pro Contorller and it plays great still. Really hope that the Wii U Gamecube app supports that USB adaptor when it comes out with Smash bros.

Yeah, pretty much. Still, we're two generations removed from that and nobody else figured out how to do it?

It amazes me how many great features they've added in over the years that subsequently disappear without a trace. I forget which version of SvR it was in which you could slam/suplex/etc guys out of the ring and even maneuver them in the hold towards the ropes to either send them over or use the ropes in a modified version of the move (slingshot suplexes, etc.). What the heck happened to that?

After finally seeing gameplay I can say it looks better than recent years, but still not great.

At least I'm mildly interested in it now.

Ultimate Control Grapple?

Was that what it was called? I can't remember.

Yeah, problem is people used it to grief. Grab a referee in a chokehold for a chokeslam and nothing could be done. Could do that to other players too. There were other exploits people did with them. They were real glitchy and really didn't add that much more to the system.

Surely, they could have improved upon the mechanic, fixed the loopholes, rather than abandon it?

Barring that, at least let moves interact with the ring realistically so that if I do set someone up to suplex them to the outside, they don't magically warp to stay in the ring but, you know, fall outside. Same with hitting moves on top of objects like chairs.

They only seem to matter for Cena.

Seriously, Cena in 2k14 was hilariously broken especially in sim matches (spoiler: he pretty much never loses). Granted, I guess this is a reflection of reality.

Cena doesn't have 95 in stats in 2k14. If you create a wrestler using his head and check the box to make it an alternate attire for Cena instead of a separate character, that character will show 100 as his stats instead. That's rounded down. They may have patched this so you can't see it anymore.

Also, he and The Rock are the only characters to have the AI where they will always do their finishing move after a signature move so they don't pin anyone after the Five Knuckle Shuffle or a spinebuster because that would look bad.

edit: :lol at Yuke's still using Randy Orton's 2011 mini-tron. It's the Harry Potter-style text where it says "Apex Predator" under the Titantron. He hasn't used that for a long time.

You can see one of those short animations Yuke's has been using since 2001 at 1:35 in the Nexplay off-screen footage. It looks great graphically, but things like attacks always missing when the guy you're attacking is entering or exiting the ring seem like they're still in there.

I wouldn't blame Yukes for the edit there, I bet it's a hold up with WWE providing them.

Let me ask you a question. Did you also hate that sample of Rey Mysterio Jr. like I did?

I'm not sure what you are talking about. One of the unlockable pre-made sample guys for the Edit mode? Is this supposed to be a test? I don't recall Rey being in the game at all.

You clearly don't want to discuss wrestling game mechanics with me, you just want to shame me for having an unpopular opinion.

I love KoC 2. It's an amazing game with some flaws. I think WWE 2K14 is similar in that regard.

Character models look much better. Animations are greatly improved, but still aren't fluid. Really, the only reason why this game looks good is because of how bad the past few years have been.

In fact, both Orton's Titantron video and his mini-tron video are the ones he used at TLC 2011. Will Cena still use "10 years of respect" merch from 2012? Will 2012 Cena fans be in the crowd?

How much are we talking here? Based on the statistics screen in 2k14 I'm pretty sure I've played 1500+ matches in it by now.

Thats true after your pinned you do get up slow. its more realistic though. it makes less sense to be able to dive roll after taking a F5. Ill take realism over "well no mercy did this so every other game should". and thats not true about the flamin tables. big moves like that finishers on the outside will keep someone down for like 10 seconds and thats a lot for a wrestling game.
