Simone is that baffling though...maybe Simon thought she looks the part enough, and acts the part enough, that the rest would fall into place?

It's certainly not an odd thought. There have been plenty of stars made over the years who had questionable talent

..... I have a crush on Melonie. I hope she wins it all

Damn, I haven't been a fan of Melonie but GERL SLAYED. MERCILESSLY ATE AWAY THE CARCASSES OF THE LESSORS.

Rethinking my opinion on her.

Pretty obvious who Simon's best singers are. He put Melanie and Drew up there without any background dancers. Had to hide Simone, Rachel and Tia with a bunch of other nonsense on the stage.

WAT
Oh.

I thought she was plugging a random video of hers, but now I understand what she was implying.

Even more glad that mess got kicked out. Too bad it was at the expense of seeing Rugby girl SLAY once more.

Good choices all around. I still think that Phillip Lomax was set to fail since LA fucked up his song choice. Let him sing fucking Michael Buble.

Anyways... lol @ Simone plugging her backup

Favorites

Drew, Melanie, Lakoda Rayne, That Canty Boy.

That's it.

Well I accurately predicted the fate of Phil Lomax a few pages back. As soon as he stepped out of doing Sinatra, it was a train wreck. I don't understand how a broke dumbass like me, sitting on my fatass on a rented couch can see these things, but multi-millionaire record moguls like LA Reid can't see it.

Next to go from the boys should be Chris Renee. I can't put it into words accurately, but there's something about that guy that makes me want to turn the TV channel. I think its his white thug demeanor vibe that he gives off when he isn't singing. I find it very annoying and very high-schoolish.

Simone and Tia should never have been there. I'm very pissed that Jazzlyn Little didn't at least get to compete on the live shows. That girl slayed her audition, probably one of the top 3 auditions for me, but she was given a shit song at Simon's house.

I think Josh, Melanie, and Drew are the best singers that are left. I hate all the groups, except Lakoda Rayne, and its only because of the eye candy.

edit: Also Astro continues to surprise and amaze me each week.

My faves:

Marcus, Josh, Stacy, Drew and Melanie. The Stereo Hogzz are the only ones I'd like to see survive from the groups category, but I don't want them to win (so far).

Ok, I'll admit I haven't been watching this show at all, and only turned it on tonight because there was absolutely nothing else on. That being said...

...I can't be the only one who finds that set / stage / dancers absolutely retarded can I? It's so ridiculously over the top - just comes across as cheesy, lame, and really trying too hard. Real music acts don't get a stage like that, so these nobodies sure look out of place on it.

It's the XFactor. They are looking for huge stars so they put them in an element that you would see someone like Britney or Enrique in. Lots of dancers lights and stages.

In all fairness, when you go to see a concert, that's what you see. It's over the top, but so is the music industry so it doesn't bother me at all. Just makes me wonder why AI was so subdued in fact.

AI will continue to push the narrative of struggling artist who goes on a journey to win over America. XF is just about stars. I personally dislike all the extra dramatic stuff on XF, save for the singer intros that make it seem like a battle is about to take place.

Something is...off with the camerawork on this show. But it was fun :-D

And, and I so predicted Drew's Taylor Swift-ification. That hair, the styling, now she's a star already...bitch betta win!

No Xtra Factor?

What are you saying.. I was the one saying your exact point but you think I'm disagreeing with it..

It's so piss poor how the judges comments are so fucking rushed. Great job at bringing to a dead halt the most interesting part of the show. As much as I hate Seacrest and his vanilla blandness he has a much better skill when it comes to hosting over that turd of a dude on X Factor.

Nicole is a big idiot, gives terrible criticism, has terrible contestant choices (Dexter wtf?) and horrible song choices, the faster shes gone the better. The host dude is pretty fucking terrible too, no charisma or personality about him, and it was pretty obvious who was going home in every category. Surprised Josh isn't getting more love, dude was fantastic tonight and killed it, same with Drew, everyone else can fade back into obscurity.

I probably meant to quote the guy you were talking to as opposed to you directly

If Josh and Drew can keep it up then it's only theirs to lose.

My rambling thoughts.

Astro: Pretty good, tries too hard, comes off as being a brat. Not that likable.
Chris Rene: Rough but has some potential, maybe. Won't last much longer.
Marcus Canty: Good. Likeable.
Phillip Lomax (aka Flomax): Sent to die. LA Reid KNEW what kind of singer he was, and seemed to think his Buble/Bruno Mars style was "current" then has him do something totally different.

The Stereo Hogzz: Good. Likable. Nice throwback to late 80s, B2M style groups.
Intensity: A couple of decent singers, and they'll get the Glee/High School Musical-vote, but not great.
The Brewer Boys: Not good.
Lakoda Rayne: Expected them to suck... but were surprisingly good, and somewhat unique.

Dexter: WTF
LeRoy Bell: Smooth, very likable, sounds like Michael Bolton, not sure how marketable though.
Stacy Francis: A little rough, but quite good and likable.
Josh Krajcik: He always looks like he needs a shower, but great voice. And seems like a nice guy.

Simone Battle: Terrible. Bad song.
Tiah Tolliver: She tries too hard and comes off as annoying. Too much crap going on, on stage. Bad song.
Rachel Crow: Cute but the mashup was a mess. Not as good as before.
Drew: WINNER! Talented, good control, unique, is very likable.
Melanie Amaro: Very surprised they rolled out a Whitney song so soon. Usually a bad idea, but she handled most of it really well. Looked nervous, but is talented and likeable.

Also, the production of the show is so terrible. I hate the camera work, hate the announcer, the host is ok sometimes but he's no Brian Dunkleman. The fact that they seemingly hide the lesser singers with stage theatrics is blatantly obvious. At least they got right to the point and eliminated people without a 60 second dramatic drumroll.

As for the judges, Paula isn't half bad. Nicole is really bad. LA Reid is OK. Simon is Simon, and he screwed up with some of his choices, but at least he sorta fixed some of it.

I hope the show gets better once they get into a regular top 12 routine.

OK I've not watched a bunch of eps off my DVR yet, but can anyone explain to me why Jazzlyn Little is not on the live show?

Anyone?

Great voice, but her nerves were killing her. I still think Simon should have gone with her or rugby girl over those duds Simone and Tia, but I think the 3 he's taking to the top 12 are at least solid.

Agree with most if not all your comments minus Chris Rene. He is terrible. Flomax should have gotten in and should have gotten a fucking Buble song. LA Reid is an ass for screwing him over.

I totally agree about the freaking camera work.. The sound is also terrible. The music and background singers are drowning out the contestants and it is pissing the living shit out of me. I have to blare my TV to hear them correctly. The cameras and the stage is to big. Way bigger then the UK one. In fact it is so big that the camera always feels far away from the contestants. The lighting from the back then is in a wide shot and blinds the camera from being able to see anything. It is really annoying.

The dancers don't bother me as it is the same as X Factor in the UK and puts them in a situation that is similar to a real concert show which if they win, they would be facing.

I like Steve Jones. He is a bit dry but he was short on time. Adding 5 extra singers in 30 mins of extra time is freaking tough. He had to push them. If you watch the UK version you will see their host do the same thing. He pushes them and tells the judges to quit bickering.

The brunette in the girl-group they put together is hot, but that group was just four girls singing as though the other three weren't even there.

The competition between judges aspect seems like it could screw up the live voting, since all the criticism is just sniping the other judges. I don't think I like the idea at all. They should have had 4 celebrity mentors who compete but don't judge and then 4 judges.

that's canned beef. the arguing is only meant to stir up drama. simon wouldn't have chosen nicole had he not known what he was doing.

agreed with comments above: steve the host was TERRIBLE. i predict he's gone by next season.

That was an appalling night. I can't say I liked any performance, with the exception of Melanie's. Even then she wasn't even close to Whitney.

Worst performance of the night goes to the host. Holy shit what an unlikeable dickwad. How many cocks did he suck to land this job?

Wow, Jett...I thought for sure you would have loved Drew. Girl has remarkable tone, immaculate pitch and crazy phrasing for her age.

She's the only one I believe in for the long haul now that Jazzlyn is gone. Melanie does have a great voice, but I need to see her do more than karaoke Whitney, as hard as that is to do its still just karaoke so far. :(

I would love a large, heavy stage light to drop on "Astro"

Drew is amazing. It is almost shocking coming from someone just 14yrs old...she is emotionally connecting far beyond what other artists can even dream about. Yes, its a lilting Sarah McLaughlin sort of style but her control and nuance is just impeccable.

Her phrasing choices blow me away. I hope she's the one behind them. I can believe it after her retelling of Bieber's Baby Baby.

I guess I could give Drew another listen. To be honest by the the time girls rolled in I was fed up. :P

Over 30s...

That is all.

I don't know how the host got past focus testing, or if Cowell just strong-armed him through. He's fucking useless. I now appreciate Ryan Seacrest so much more.

Well I can confirm that the guy doesn't have any bad camera angles, but pretty boy can't muster personality even if his life depended on it.

(Fortunately it doesn't)

Edit:

Simon during Simone's performance...

Edit2:

Praise the lord, Simone and Trolliver are off the show! The 3 remaining girls are 5 million dollar material, but I was surprised to see Drew outshining the other two. I have to give it to Leona, she was right all along.
