WTF America. 0 taste. How do I vote from twitter and can I vote from Canada?

Astro > Everyone else on that show. That kid is real. I was sending his top 10 performance to a bunch of people who don't watch X Factor and they were amazed by how good he is.

He should be on the front line of hip hop like Tyler the Creator and Childish Gambino. America has 0 taste. Do they not like him because Rihanna isn't on his tracks? Does he need to rap about making money or does he need to say he came out of Rehab? ZERO TASTE.

They hated him this week because of his performances.

Now they hate him because he was obviously raised by wolves and lacks any sense of respect.

And that's disrespectful to wolves.

Not wanting a homophobe and misogynist like Vermin the Creator is having zero taste?

OK.

Tell me, do you guys actually buy albums made by the artists you cheer on these kind of shows? You get all excited over someone singing an amazing ballad, but would you actually buy that? This is the first contestant in a while where I would actually buy an album from.

Television really isn't a good spot because people are more interested in someone singing a power ballad almost as good as the original artist (why not just buy the original artist?) than an amazing original verse.

That terrible show on Bravo with Kara DioGuawioranrdi tried the whole singer-songwriter thing and utterly bombed. I don't see a show where contestants have one week to write original songs working at all.

Tabris said:
No, I don't mean singing original songs. My question is would you actually buy an album from someone like Melanie Armano?

I'll be honest and say no. I'm more interested in the show from a personality perspective. It's nice to see someone get a chance and try to live their dreams.

I don't understand what happened with Stacy. She started so strong in the show and progressively went down the shitter.

LOL at Astro. Nothing but an immature baby. Simon should've voted him out, he has zero chance of winning after these shenanigans.

EDIT - Oh and that includes everyone else in this thread that just posted that shit above me.

I wouldn't. She's boring as hell, and church singers are a dime-a-dozen.

In fact, it's fun to watch the drama unfold, but I don't know who I would really support of these acts, because the sad fact is none of them are really unique outside of the microcosm of this show. Even my favorite, Drew, is just a goofier version of Taylor Swift.

The show is fun to watch, but I don't look at any of these acts and see someone that makes me scream "YOU are what the music industry needs right now."

So Astro didn't want to perform because America put him in the bottom two... probably because he sang a rap song on rock night.

But whatever.

Maybe tonight he should have sung "Stop Thinking I'm a Bomb"

That's the thing. The music industry needs old school hip hop.

Yes. Her and Haley Reinhart from last season's AI. I also have several songs from Kelly Clarkson, Chris Daughtry and other AI contestants on my iPod.

Fletcher said:
So you're now saying that Astro is someone that the music industry needs?

Good lord.

Don't you know? The music industry is clamoring for more self-entitled shitheads. Clearly it doesn't have enough of those.

What does personality have to do with the music? Infact, those self entitled people usually make the best music. Confidence in yourself leads to success.

Perhaps people don't like to fuel a little asshole's lack of respect and arrogance?

Feel free to. Plenty of people make the Kardashians rich too.

Kardashians don't have talent though. But again, what does personality have to do with listening to music? Maybe you guys are the one's feeding the drama by caring more about the personalities and show drama than the actual music.

The problem with Astro is once he can't just ape someone else's flow and beat entirely he just falls apart instantly and sounds awful because he has no natural flow to his rhymes. Just listen to his "Stop Looking at My Mom." It sounded like awkward early 90s rap. His performance was a trainwreck and I can see why he didn't get votes.

I care about both. I'd rather support a talented person with some grace and respect than some shithead that thinks he's god's gift. This is not a strange or uncommon idea.

If you want to support him, please do. At this point, he seems too far gone to be fixed if this is what his parents have given him.

Am I the only one fucking sick of LA Reid's character? I get that it's all canned. I just think he's an annoying character.

They were obviously looking for another asshole to play off of Simon, but LA Reid is written to be a vindictive jerk to the point that he doesn't even say anything constructive other than saying irrelevant nonsense and hamming up his fake competition with Simon Cowell. He's literally more useless than Nicole. I'm gonna get flamed for this, but I actually kind of think Nicole's nutty fucking character is kind of growing on me. I consistently am entertained by her being a dumbass week to week.

These shows were never about the music. I mean, look at the thread title. It's all about the personalities involved and the petty drama that (moreso in the UK version) get people talking.

The only show I can think of that focuses squarely on talent is So You Think You Can Dance, and it's an incredible production, but its ratings this past season were in the toilet, like America's Next Top Model re-run on Lifetime bad.

And even if the show did put emphasis on the music, unless the winner has a soul of steel like Kelly Clarkson or Leona Lewis, chances are the music they eventually release won't be much more than manufactured, overproduced nonsense anyway.

@Kryptonian That's like saying you don't want to see Sean Penn act because he's an asshole. Nevermind the fact he is a really good actor.

I was telling my wife how impressed I was with how well these kids were handling the pressure. Then Astro threw a tantrum. He's just a kid though but that shit was painful to watch. Cringe worthy of the highest order.

And America does have taste. Almost no one from these shows ever becomes huge. Count on three fingers and then throw a few scrub one hit wonders and that's all that's been. That's shows pretty good taste to me. These shows are entertainment. Sugar sweet candy. If you need to find so called great music from these shows you need help!

Hey I watch these shows for the drama too, not for the music. Actually it's my friend that really loves them but I like judges like Simon Cowell dissing on horrible contestants, especially in the beginning. But I found some real talent here and I'm disappointed in what I'm seeing.

Here's your drama:

Its funny how people are quick to judge not knowing whats going on behind the scenes. Maybe I should have given my Disney smile instead!

I feel yall on that but I wasn't talking about viewers when I said I don't wanna perform. If you only knew what I know you'd say otherwise

read his tweets. I don't think for a second @AstronomicalKid was in the bottom. The show needed drama. The kid knew

There are plenty of people with talent that aren't pieces of shit. Again, please give assholes your money. I'm sure they'll appreciate it.

Sandusky welcomes your support as well.

Straight up damage control and backpeddling and he fucking fooled you too. Congrats.

But But Kelly clarkson,Carrie Underwood found success. And One direction will be huge in the UK >: (

(I promise to stop posting that)

Anyways yeah the show is mostly for the drama. But people can find success from it.

I don't, and never will buy any argument that the show is rigged. It's a serious federal crime to rig a game show, there's too much money involved to bother doing it and it's too big a conspiracy to keep secret.

I don't know if that true in other countries actually. It's think it's a national quirk of ours that it's a federal offense to rig a televised contest due to the Quiz Show scandals of the 1950s.

I could give two shits about the persons personality as long as they are producing great music and/or art in general.

Astro is exactly what the music industry doesn't need anymore of. Personality and "talent" wise.

My wife is always irresistibly reminded of Will Smith whenever she sees Astro. She just argues he's essentially the squeakest clean way they could have put a credible rapper on the show.

I just don't get why Astro sounds like his voice hasn't changed even though he's 14. I also don't get why Rachael Crow looks 8 even though she's a year younger than Drew.

Astro posted this on his twitter:

Could the producers (or whoever else) have intentionally created the scenario to get more people talking about the show?

It wouldn't surprise me at all.

**Edit: Seems that someone has already put them up. Sorry about the repost.

Where are you finding great music being produced and performed these days? Almost every act today can't sing and gets by on our infatuation with famous people and tremendous marketing that just makes suckers out of all of us.

Honestly, I find more singing talent on these shows than I do in our current crop of popular artists. Current artists are as much about being a Kardashian as they are about having one lick of talent. Even the non-famous winners (and non-winners) of our reality shows can sing circles around what passes for an artist these days. Are you honestly going to tell me that you found that the uber-famous Rihanna was a good act tonight?

And, yes, astro was terrible well before his tantrum tonight.

The producers of X Factor don't exactly have the best reputation.

Honestly though, it surprises me that he's even hinting at something shady while still in the competition. Kid is definitely getting thrown out soon.

There's this thing called the internet.

It has these things called "music blogs" with many lesser known / non-mainstream acts being featured.

You should try it.

Almost universally awful. I don't have time to sift through thousands of attempts to find something decent.

Or maybe he is trying to back peddle after figuring out that what he said was probably not in his best interest .

Agree since even if what he's saying is true, him stating it on twitter will more than likely make the producers upset (if it hasn't already).

Also, the situation could still happen without the show being rigged. Astro could have definitely been in the bottom 2 but the producers could have told him before to act the way he did if he ever got in that position.

To be honest, nothing would really surprise me in terms of a "TV controversy" especially if it was about a popular live show like the X-Factor (or other similar live singing competitions).

If he wants a career in rap he probably needs to get thrown off the show. I wouldn't be surprised if this was entirely scripted.

lol what are you into?

I mean, there's a ton of good stuff out now (at least in my opinion) but what I'm into (alternative rock, hip-hop, electronic) may not be what you're into.

Astro showed some poor manners out there tonight. I was loving the drama. I also don't think Rachel would have been able to perform had she been in the bottom 2. She was already breaking down before her name was called.

Astro has pride in himself and what he does. You can't blame the dude for being so distraught at being voted as bottom 2 when he has received nothing but praise for every performance he's done.

He overreacted and showed his immature side but he is only 14 and that should be noted. This is a stressful situation and he let his pride get in the way. Simple mistake by a young talented person. I'm sure his mom will beat some sense into him haha.

This this this.

Has GAF lost it's mind? Give the kid a little bit of slack. If anything Stacey at age 47 pouted all last night and and most of tonight.

Astro will also have some type of apology next week and America will get a short memory.

Exactly, ALL 3 of the 14 year olds were breaking down being called near the end.

Breaking down would have been fine. Expected really.

He's been arrogant the entire time and this was just another step down that road. Now this twitter thing has sunk him IMO. The producers will make sure of it.
