This is gonna to be dead on arrival šŸ‘€

As a life long X-Files fan, I hope this bombs hard

They could have literal clones of Duchovny and Anderson, and I wouldn't be interested in any reboot. X-Files existed in a certain place and time. Good luck replicating that.

Oh I'm definitely skipping it due to the bolded. I don't want a reboot or sequel series regardless of who is involved. If anything those new seasons that they made should have been focused on just finishing the main storyline but I'm convinced Chris Carter just made it up along the way which is why we never got a proper closure to the main storyline

Chose to finally re-watch this series and the movies when this was first announced, can confirm that outside of when CG was used for the effects work, it holds up and is still very enjoyable, this doesn't need to exist.

I'm surprised they can afford Coogler after Sinners. I wonder if this deal was quite advanced before Sinners blew up.

I also think The X Files was a time and place thing, but that doesn't stop it resonating with a new generation of kids.

I'm not particularly interested in these 90s reboots but I'll give this, Malcolm in the Middle and Scrubs a go.

If this goes ok, expect Eerie Indiana, The Outer Limits and 3rd Rock From The Sun to have a go too.

No Gillian Anderson, no watch

That's zucchini or cucumber, you liar. I liked the original series but probably because I was a kid and didn't mind when they jumped the shark, hard, for many later plotlines and episodes, it was only objectively good when most shit were unknown mysteries and not secret government conspiracies with plot holes and nonsense all over. Same for Stargate SG-1, which was great before all the political and diplomatic shit of later seasons, when they simply explored worlds via the stargates, like Star Trek without warp speed. It would be nice if this one stays more down to earth/hard sci fi or whatever but I doubt it so the alternative is maybe going for a campy B movie style that could work out, kind of like Supernatural or Buffy but with aliens or something. Any clue what they're gonna go for by the writers/creators? Sinners was a fun movie but is that all they've done?

Oh great, every episode will have some sort of racial undertones and allegories in them.

As others have said, zero interest no matter who does this. It had its place in time, just like SG-1 and other did as well.

I'm convinced that Chris Carter didn't know how to end the main storyline because back in the day when that show was airing, the budget for a full on alien invasion would be hard to do on TV. It could be done but a conclusion would have worked better back than as a movie with a big budget.

Which is why I was super disappointed that when Season 10 and 11 came out, they didn't do anything to finish the main storyline. I didn't hate those Seasons but I felt those two seasons were kind of pointless. And they once again introduced two new agents while being good actors, weren't memorable at all

When Agent Dogget and Reyes showed up in Season 8 and 9, I didn't hate them but they felt out of place and I found them boring in comparision to Mulder and Scully

I remember that show being super popular back when it was airing. What killed it is that the more they went into the main storyline and not answering lot of the questions, the more the viewership began to drop. I did love all the seasons but I feel the first five to six seasons are the better seasons overall

I also remembered hearing that the effects that the X-Files were doing at the time were movie quality. It was always interesting hearing about how they did does effects and how they had to work around a TV schedule to make it look fantastic

I will never forget watching the first season of X-files when it aired. I watched it late (summer some time) and that reveal at the end of Season 1 was one of the most amazing moments in TV history.

Was a different time man.

It sure was. Hard to describe it to people who didn't live and experience X Files when it was on, series today just don't exist the same way. LOST was like this too. Glad I got to experience them both while they aired for the years they were on.

Sucks, X-Files is one of the few ips not molested that mostly stuck with it's original creator.

We all know how it's gonna go, racism, Trump etc will be the REAL conspiracy, never forget that anything that questions the corpo, Democrat hegemony is... LE BAD!

It's probably going to be easy to ignore everything after 2018, but as far as I know, the two 2010s limited series never added any sort of real conclusion, a shame but it is what it is by this point.

Also watch them not even involve Darin Morgan.

What a clown world we're living in. There are new Buffy and X-Files shows coming out and instead of being excited to return to beloved series I couldn't care less.

(new Stargate is still an unknown, but I fully expect it to join 'avoid at all cost' group)

I have no hope for the new Stargate either. Heck, I'm watching SG-1 reruns as we speak.

You can only capture lightning in the bottle once with these shows and the remakes or rEbOoTs never seem to capture the same charm.

Especially with current year writers, actors and gatekeeping.

There's a reason that X-Files was great in the 90s, it was because was the 90s and aliens news was all over the world. Also, remember when Mulder was out and everything fall? It was because you can't remove a single thing of the show

Some people just pushes to loose money

Im a big X Files fan from the 90's and this won't work and fail big time again, still doing everything wrong as usual, im not interested in any kind of messaging show!.

Chris Carter can be real buffoon when it comes to handling the mythology of his own show. The amount of retcons and abandoned plotlines runs deep throughout the series. New blood might not be such a bad thing. I just hope this is more of a "continuation" with new characters rather than a complete reboot. That way we can have Mulder and Scully appearances every now and then, and maybe even a few monster-of-the-week sequels.

Even if it's a contiunation, I wouldn't be a fan. I would rather they get both actors back and just focus on finishing the main storyline. And yes I do agree with you on Chris Carter
