Not really. They do some crossover but I wouldn't say it's required. Angel is worth watching too though. Like Buffy, season one is probably the weakest.Do I need to watch Angel in tandem with Buffy?
My favorite line; Creatively Bankrupt! No new ideas ever
You should. Later Angel episodes are amazing. More comedy than horror and a certain pale vampire steals the show in season 5. That's also the season with one of the cruelest gut punches ever.Do I need to watch Angel in tandem with Buffy?
As a fellow life long fan (3 rewatches) how could you want this to fail? Ryan Coogler is a fucking catch, Sinners was one of the best films in a long time and the dude is writing/directing the pilot ffs, the best thing they've done is bounce Chris Carter down to non writing executive producer as ther guy cant fucking hack it anymore with those last seasons of Xfiles being utterly abysmal, he's still stuck in that 90's way of thinking. A new cast means we have a chance of revisiting Mulder & Scully if this thing kicks off AND above all else we get a motherfucking FBI show about Aliens/Supernatural shit hopefully shot from a modern realistic perspective and with modern effects!, i cant fucking wait to be honest.![]()
‘The X-Files’ Reboot Casts Danielle Deadwyler to Star, Ryan Coogler to Direct
Hulu has officially greenlit a pilot to revive the classic UFO series, with the 'Sinners' filmmaker writing and directing.www.hollywoodreporter.com
This is gonna to be dead on arrival
As a life long X-Files fan, I hope this bombs hard

eh? its two new agents.. Agent Token & Agent BLM not the originals![]()
They blackwashed my queen. Ryan Coogler you stupid motherfucker. You one trick pony.
Oh it's the Sinners guy. Sinners was so bad.As a fellow life long fan (3 rewatches) how could you want this to fail? Fun Fact: People fucking HATED each other on that set. This is one where the only chance of it existing is a full reboot.I wouldn't mind if they brought back Fringe though

Really?? It's pretty much universally loved amongst anyone I've spoken toOh it's the Sinners guy. Sinners was so bad.
Truth is out there in the graveyard six feet under the soil rest in peace.
X-Files was awesome but yeah that whole UFO / alien arc was a mess. It never made sense and nothing ever came of it or was resolved.Oh I'm definitely skipping it due to the bolded. I don't want a reboot or sequel series regardless of who is involved. If anything those new seasons that they made should have been focused on just finishing the main storyline but I'm convinced Chris Carter just made it up along the way which is why we never got a proper closure to the main storyline

The best X-Files episodes where monster of the week. The main episodes were meh at best.
But that was back then where tv series had 20+ episodes per season.
Current tv series have at best ~10 episodes, so little chance for those excellent monster of the week episodes.
the conspiracy ones were what made the show imo as it offered a continuing evolving storyline to follow with monster fillers, the first 5 seasons capped with the excellent 1st movie and then the 6th season are peak XfilesI don't get it, the main story was wonderful man - The cigarette smoking man, the Alien conspiracy and revelations, the episode with the hundred Alien bodies inside the train wagon, the Antarctica ones with the hybrids (or was that in one of the movies?) , the sense of dread was real when it came to the main story.
Sure, there were also some great standalone episodes like "Home" (damn man) but again, I don't think the show ever suffered for having a mediocre main plot.
Dayam youse are all jaded AF probably hate the new Star Trek Academy and all
Xi/Xir-FilesThey had a chance to call it "they/them files". Disappointed.
For me the whole arc(s) lacked direction especially after the destruction of the cyndicate.I don't get it, the main story was wonderful man - The cigarette smoking man, the Alien conspiracy and revelations, the episode with the hundred Alien bodies inside the train wagon, the Antarctica ones with the hybrids (or was that in one of the movies?) , the sense of dread was real when it came to the main story.

I agree with this 100%. Part of the allure of X-Files is the 90s and early 2000s setting. Part of that is the "simpler times" allow for everything to be more believable for lack of better words. They could have literal clones of Duchovny and Anderson, and I wouldn't be interested in any reboot. X-Files existed in a certain place and time. Good luck replicating that.
When Stabler was gone, that was pretty much it for me too.I agree with this 100%. Part of the allure of X-Files is the 90s and early 2000s setting. Part of that is the "simpler times" allow for everything to be more believable for lack of better words.
Certain shows just don't work in modern settings IMO. Like imaging something like The Sopranos in modern times sounds abhorrent. Same with something like Sex and the City. These shows have a time and a place.
Also X-Files LITERALLY IS David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson as Fox Mulder and Dana Scully.
I know people probably enjoy current Law and Order SVU but I just can't. SVU to me is all about that late 90s-early 2000s NYC vibe and that combined with the loss of Stabler killed any interest in the show past S11 as I already started to lose interest due to the vibe.
Way overrated show. The only good actor was the old man. The rest were grating to say the very least. It's also one of those shows where it's enough to only watch the first season. I really wanted to love it as I'm a sucker for all things scifi, but it never managed to lift off the ground.Fun Fact: People fucking HATED each other on that set. This is one where the only chance of it existing is a full reboot.
ahhh, Doyle am sad....Not really. They do some crossover but I wouldn't say it's required. Angel is worth watching too though. Like Buffy, season one is probably the weakest.

My understanding with the new agents was to attempt a passing of the torch. But the rebooted seasons didn't do well so the continuing series wasn't green lit.I'm convinced that Chris Carter didn't know how to end the main storyline because back in the day when that show was airing, the budget for a full on alien invasion would be hard to do on TV. It could be done but a conclusion would have worked better back than as a movie with a big budget.
Which is why I was super disappointed that when Season 10 and 11 came out, they didn't do anything to finish the main storyline. I didn't hate those Seasons but I felt those two seasons were kind of pointless. And they once again introduced two new agents while being good actors, weren't memorable at all
When Agent Dogget and Reyes showed up in Season 8 and 9, I didn't hate them but they felt out of place and I found them boring in comparision to Mulder and Scully
I remember that show being super popular back when it was airing. What killed it is that the more they went into the main storyline and not answering lot of the questions, the more the viewership began to drop. I did love all the seasons but I feel the first five to six seasons are the better seasons overall
I also remembered hearing that the effects that the X-Files were doing at the time were movie quality. It was always interesting hearing about how they did does effects and how they had to work around a TV schedule to make it look fantastic
Fringe, warehouse 13 and Eureka...I wouldn't mind if they brought back Fringe though

You can watch both individually and you wouldn't miss much, but it's best watched Buffy First then Angel, IMHO!

Season 11 did bring one of my all time favorite episodes "Rm9sbG93ZXJz" aka Remember to Tip Your Sushi Bot.

Really is, when it comes to Hollywood, most of the time haven't been excited for a lot of the new movies coming out. It's why I love horror films, so far when it comes to modern Hollywood, I find that horror films tend to be more fresh when it comes to giving me a new experience watching a movie. They are usually one off too
There's so many reboots, remakes and yes superhero films and shows that it just gets eye rolling at times. Not to mention lot of these companies trying to milk anime to death with these live action adaptations
Not surprised, I remember people talking about how much the actors playing those main two characters on that Castle show hating each other in real life. I'm not surrpised since I do think it's more common than Hollywood would want to admit
That's the thing, I love the main storyline. I think due to the popularity of the show, if they ever wanted to finish the storyline, they are able to now since the popularity of the show would justify spending a lot on a season or two finishing the storyline. It would be cool if both actors from the OG Show returned and this time there's a full scale alien invasion
I'm aware of that but I find it interesting that even with a lot of time passing, they still can't find anyone who can replace the actors playing Mulder and Scully. Not only the characters themselves but each one of the new agents introduced aren't memorable at all in looks too. Whenever I saw Mulder and Scully on a magazine cover, I knew instantly who they were. There's just a distinctive look to them that can't be replicated in a new show
That's another thing, I might have been disappointed in them not really delving into the main storyline in those two new seasons we got, but the standalones episodes we got were great
Mulder taking mushrooms and than going on a trip where he ends up dancing at a country bar. Had me dying on the floor
Skinner past as a Vietnam soldier was one of my favorite episodes. I was teary eyed at the end where Skinner talks about his past to Mulder and Scully. He's one of my favorite characters in the show
I'm still salty they killed off The Lone Gunmen. I wasn't a fan of the show but I was a huge fan of Milliennium and Harsh Realms
I love all the seasons including Seasons 7 to 11. But I do agree that Season 1 to 6 and the first movie are the best when it comes to the show in regards to the pacing and plot
