So, on CAG, someone posted alleged info from next week's Toys R Us ad. Says $25 gift card with the purchase of this game. Should be confirmed by the weekend, but the info is usually pretty accurate.

The Havok costume looks pretty good, but did anyone tell these clowns that Juggernaut's powers are magical?
Originally that might be true. In the current continuity I think Jugs had a latent mutant power that didn't become active until the Cyttorak incident.

I think I'll pick this up about a week after release, when it's in the "2 for 5 euro"-bargainbin.

I wonder why it's not cheaper already. The Wii version actually increased from 20 to 50€.

One question - can they wear different costumes? I want to okay as the chick, but I can't stand the pigtails and mouth covering scarf....

I doubt they'd go that far for such a low-budget project, especially when it's on DS.

Still think it looks fun. No co-op is kind of inexcusable, though.

For the three of you who are interested, here's a more recent walkthrough. Graphics and animation have been tightened up considerably.

Shows off some of the different costumes and X-genes. Story seems interesting, although there appear to be sizable spoilers in the vid.

Nice, thanks for the link. The game is looking much better and it's going to be a fun rental.

I think that was just in one of the cartoons. The Uncanny X-men comic is currently in the middle of an arc about Juggernaut and his powers still appear to be very much magical.

Activision sends every game out to die that isn't named Call of Duty. Their new Spiderman game comes out like a couple weeks after this one.

They've actually promoted that one quite a bit. It's all over the local Gamestop.

this looks like a single-player version of Dc universe using X-men chars. it might be interesting, shall wait for reviews, screw DLC pre-order.

The new spiderman game is just like The Force Unleashed 2

The first was "Meh, ok, it was fun in some parts but it definitely aint what i want from this franchise"

Then the publisher completely ignores this message and says "THE FIRST ONE SOLD SOME COPIES!! MAKE THE SAME THING AGAIN"

And then the sequel flops.

lulz, it's like that Quake 1 total conversion where all you did was shoot guns at wolverine and cyclops.
That game looked hella scary.

I will be redboxing this game if it comes in next week. LOL.

wow those are some negative previews LOL

how can you mess up an action RPG from a franchise that is just tailor made for a videogame

I actually think the game looks decent, especially in that latest vid. I will try to check it out when I have the time to do so, but I said the same thing about Spider Man SD and I never did :-(.

This actually seems more interesting than when I first played it, what little I played of it in it's early stages was complete crap.

Marvel and DC games have been doing it for years. There's very few exceptions

So I just noticed that Amazon is giving away a $10 credit with preorders for this game. It's coming out in two days and I'm not sure if it's worth it. I wish some reviews would go up or something.

I grabbed it when it was $45 at Amazon and came with the $10 credit. I'm a huge X-Men fan so if it's at least decent I'll be happy.

So what is the logic behind being able to use a bunch of other mutant powers?

Some dude in the game is kidnapping mutants and extracting their "X-Genes", presumably making an army of customized mutant soldiers.

Edit: from some impressions:
We got to check out a boss battle in the Pure Fire laboratory, where the U-Men (started by Sublime) are enhancing ordinary humans with mutant genes. In the game, John Sublime been kidnapping mutants and extracting their x-genes. In the battle, he takes some of them himself to challenge you and your mutant abilities. We saw him take the Colossus x-gene and grow in size (and ugliness). Our character Aimi then used the Quicksilver x-gene to speed up. You can also pick up some of the suits along the way if you have each character's offensive, defensive and utility x-genes. The full complement of abilities matched with the suit also give you bonuses. You have the option to change out what you're using at any time and mix and match x-genes from any character. There are three slots available for x-genes at a time, plus one suit slot.

Just that they are trying to throw some new characters in the mix instead of fan service. It doesn't look that great a game, but I'm a meele game junkie and it looks worth a punt.

generation hope is a team full of new characters. that, and these characters look generic as hell.

You know, the concept has me interested but the character choices being Asian schoolgirl, plain white guy, other plain white guy is kinda bumming me out.

Damn, I've not followed this game for ages. I thought you got to create your own character Mass Effect style and then guide them into battle and ultimately choose if you'd become an Xman or join the Brotherhood of Mutants.
So it turns out you can only play as those 3 chumps? no thanks.

Have you seen this game? Can you blame them?!

I'm kind of surprised this outlived True Crime

True Crime HK kinda lives, Squeenix bought the rights and are now publishing it....but not as True Crime as Acti wanted to keep the name.

Yeah.

If it was Mass Effect/X-Men I'd be there day 1. This sounds like a less than half-baked idea.

I actually really like her character design.

I sorta like the idea of approaching the whole X-Men idea from the perspective of someone we haven't seen a hundred times already, more of an everyman point of view of the conflict.

X-men legends did that. The cartoons and comics seem to do it every few years. I think they made some flash game in 1994 that did it.

It also wears it a bit that when they don't use a new character to do it they use an existing one to go through introductions anyways like Wolverine in the first film.
