Kain and Eternal Darkness means you're wrong.

But for this century they've been completely hit or miss.

Never liked Eternal Darkness. To this day I believe it is overrated because it was on the Gamecube.

Just watched the first part of this guy playing. Yeah this looks terribad. The combat looks awful and graphics are bad. Just look at those cheap effects! especially the teleportation one. I also don't understand why the dodge for a teleporter is a fucking cartwheel. I totally know why they did it, so the could just do one animation no matter what power you choose. Problem with that is that it totally doesn't reflect the powers you have.

I owned all four home consoles last gen.

Eternal Darkness wasn't even my favorite survival/horror title on the Cube, let alone counting the DC, Xbox, and PS2.

But I still thought it was good. And I loved the "twist" after beating the game three times.

But given everything they've made since... which is like... what? One game? I don't hold much hope for today's SK to do anything approaching quality.

What do you mean by that? I always though these guys were mediocre at best.

Legacy of Kain, Eternal Darkness and Twin Snakes was a solid game. No, they weren't AAA titles, but they all had their merits and stood out in the crowd of other titles at the time.

Dude that's hilarious!

I enjoyed Twin Snakes... and yet I'd completely forgotten they made it.

Well, at the time, my blind Nintendo fanboy-ism prevented me from liking anything Metal Gear until MGS4 (now I hate all systems equally). Eterenal Darkness was my shit...It was like H.P. Lovecraft wrote the screenplay for The Never Ending Story.

EDIT: ED's combat was kinda clunky and the overall aesthetics of the character models put me off for some reason or another (perhaps it was showing its N64 roots). But I loved the narrative and the atmosphere. LoK I repesect, bt I'm not the biggest RPG fan.

Silicon Knights made the original.

Anyway, looks like this game is going to turn out terrible. ehh whatever

At least they gave a choice...play through the game in 5 hours - if you like it, you can play the more or less same game with two different characters again.

I haven't played Eternal Darkness, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express.

Juggernaut powers? He's not a mutant!

Isn't the Ultimate version of Juggernaut a mutant, though? I know he still got the gem later, but he had his powers as a mutant in that instead of being normal and gaining them with the gem like in the original runs.

I'm going to go with yes since he was part of the Mutant X program.

Found some walkthrough footage on youtube. Are there really no ground textures? Like seriously?

Wow this continues to look like a quality product..

Looks like all the environment textures are not loading at all. Also did they really just steal the Golden Gate bridge thing from X3?

And that Nightcrawler design is still atrocious.

No, it's running on the SK Engine, just like Too Human.
So it takes 9 years to get Too Human quality graphics and 3 years to get X-Men Destiny quality graphics with that engine.

Not the most easy to use, apparently. :p

Too Human for Xbox 360 was in development for only 3.5 years, X-Men Destiny for not even 2 years.

Haha, yes I know.

Even still I don't think that Silicon Knights are really capable of doing competent graphics this generation, no matter how much time they sink into them.

For what reason should they? They weren't able to do competent graphics last generation. I'm still excited to see what the Wii version of X-Men Destiny looks like.

Yeah, that's bad. It doesn't help that the guy doing the vid sounds like Corey Feldman, either.

That is weird, maybe this isnt the final build of the game?

How can they release this in this form?

Those are some of the worst environmental textures I've seen in awhile. PS2 games have better textures. Its like they are using 1 256x256 texture for the whole ground.

going to get the PS3 & DS version. Anyone have any questions?
Yeah. I would just like some impressions on how much of an rpg it actually is. I'm not so down on this game, still intersted to see how it will turn out.
