Supposedly, Microsoft is supposed to release a list of about 100 games that will be backwards compatible on day one (through patches stored on HD)

Well www.xbox.com is currently under maintenance, and it already looks different.

i was hoping for more, but i thought that gamepro tested everything out. im hoping theyll have the patches available for download at launch though, but who knows

where did you hear they tested everything on their debug unit?

Maybe they will tell us what games will be BC day one with the downloadable patches (or whatever they are called).

He's right, that's what they said. If it's anywhere near 100, than that debug unit clearly didn't have up-to-date patches.

Last minute BC patches FTW. If it's true, we should all be grateful to the hopeless interns that probably spent the last year writing transition functions to catch all the NVidia calls and reinterpret them in a way that makes sense to the ATI chip in the 360.
 
Launch is still a little less than a month away. They could easily be still putting the final touches on the patches and loading them on the hard drives. Stuff that is being reported now, can easily be out of date then, and it's unlikely that the Wal-mart demo machines have the full patches, if any, on them. Wait for the official list.

Oh, and it would be nice to get a list of the titles that will be in store on launch day. You know, the ones that are actually made for the 360?
 
ummmmmm so are the units in the kiosks debug. it would be as simple as someone who works at walmart testing a game in the system. i dont think microsoft has time to put anything on the harddrives now, with a wourldwide launch you can bet final units are already packaged ready to be shipped

Didn't we have a thread where people said they were already arriving in stores?
 
people were saying that actual retail units were making it to retailers, but i think that was a fake.....the bestbuy receipt had artifacting , but im no expert

Oh ok. I know they ship new systems early but I was a bit surprised by that thread and stores seeing them this early. Ah well.

It seems like the list is always "coming soon" so i'm not going to hold my breath. On one hand I am waiting to hear whats on this list, on the other hand I think saying it's BC but needing a list to know what you can play is a bit ridiculous.
 
Well, I agree with Blim at this point. I'll bet M$ has the list but, you guys continue to talk about the list so, I bet they hold off on releasing it. Why?? Simple you guys continue to talk about the list. Good or bad your talking about Xbox 360 and isn't that what M$ wants right now. Logic does the body good.
 
they need to do what battle.net did and have the O RLY owls take over the page while we're waiting for the site update. GAF would explode.
 
I hope GTA : SA works. Then I can finally do proper drive bys using the white and black buttons on the top of the controller instead of breaking my heads reaching the gas, black button, and fire keys.

Whether or not it was a fake, the receipt was for a "Price confirmation," not for an actual purchase.

I'm not so sure about that. They have to manufacture the consoles for launch, time is running out.

That don't make sense. Just keep a Xbox if it's that important to you or don't even bother with the 360 if you are basing it off that.

I feel sorry for those poor saps that bought 6 game bundles online... have they even announced what games are going to be avalible at launch? Last I heard not a single game has been certified gold yet.

Launch isn't for another month. For console launches the actual replication and shipping of the titles will be rushed and more expensive, but also cut down on the actual time. So instead of the 2-3 week lead time of usual titles, launch games have a lead of 1-2 weeks. Though I know you would love to see the 360 crash and burn now that you've decided to not buy it.

They've never been through a console launch. This is all new territory for them to troll.

eh? I am trying to decide if I should camp out all night to get one. A list of games I can buy on the 1st day would sure help alot with the decision. The BC question would help alot too, since I never had an xbox and there where some games I would like to play (ninja gaiden, rallisport challenge, and Forza to be exact).

Oh and I have been through plenty of console launches, only recently has the discovery of the internets by Al Gore made them so entertaining. :lol

Jesus, Microsoft. How about actually translating the text before posting it live, instead of showing the world that you don't know how to speak their language, by putting "???????" all over the place.
 
personally, i keep all my consoles anyway, and even if i didnt, i'd still keep my modded xbox, since it's a better multimedia device than a 360!

but it seems alot of people here do silly things like sell their xbox to help buy a 360... sucks for them to have limited BC...

That's because you need to install some oriental characters to be able to see the text

I'm hoping that the rumor of the 100+ games supported is true, I'm keeping my xbox but I know that it will not last forever.

Uh, you do know that is this is a case of the browser not being able to display the asian characters, right? The text is up there and displays fine provided you've installed the various asian language packs that aren't standard in most U.S. OSes.
