Xbox asks for backward compatibility suggestions

Backward compatibility is once again a key focus for Xbox. After the announcement in March that the program would return for the brand's 25th anniversary, questions arose about its true scope. The community wants to know if new classic games will be added or if the system will expand to PC.

Although details remain unconfirmed, a recent move has reignited the conversation. Jason Ronald, a key figure on the platform, has invited players to submit their requests through a community site dedicated to game preservation. This move has generated considerable interest.

Singularity, Wet, OG Xbox Fatal Frame 1 and 2.

My god there's a decent number of games that can be brought forward.

This is either a massive coincidence or Asha is going into every office and saying…

Only correct option is every game.

I'm just shocked some I loved were ever made BC. Say what you want but during the OG Xbox and 360 years Microsoft had some great damn games. I know without a doubt I was in the minority but I loved games like Whacked, Kung Fu Chaos, Blinx, Cel Damage, If I could remember names I'd go on and on but I can't remember names cause I'm drunk but man. I loved that MS took chances back then. Same with 3rd parties. I want to see every game no matter how few loved it preserved from then.

To be honest I'd love to see Sony do the same with PS2 and 3 games. I honestly loved the PS2, Xbox, Ps3, Xbox 360 years. They were amazing.

Would love to see more games get added. Naughty Bear and Simpsons Hit & Run off the top of my head. Lots of great (and not great but worth preserving) games stuck on old hardware

Why is a community popularity list needed?

Just add all games that aren't already working.

And make sure there is a disc drive on the device! Or make it possible to convert disc games to digital purchases. Besides XBLA I have no digital games from before Xbox One generation.

I would not get your hopes up just becuse an old community voting page gets linked to. The backwards compatibility program ended because they reached technical and legal limits of what they could do. That was according to a statement by Microsoft.

If a game needs a dedicated controller to work, has licenced content or the current owners of that title are stuck in ownership ambiguity you're not going to get them.

Since they ended the program they've picked up Activision, and the zenimax purchase was still fresh, maybe there's a few games that can be added from those two.

Project Gotham Racing 4.

Still reference game.

People say Forza Horizon is the spiritual successor, but it is so far away from the style and sophistication of the former. Also, real cities in pgr and no disneyworld like fh

Expanding the backwards compatibility to PC would easily be a way Microsoft guarantees I at the very least keep a dual-boot setup with Windows on it.

My list might have some already added, but will list anyway:
  • Blood Wake
  • Burnout Series (most still aren't I believe)
  • Crazy Taxi 3
  • Jet Set Radio Future
  • Project Gotham Racing series (I think only 1 & 2 were added, but heard they had quirks still)
  • Quantum Redshift
  • The Darkness
  • Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2x
  • Xyanide

Add them to the suggestions. You never know.

Some great ones here that I will suggest too.

The problem with a lot of these is, that they are only 720p/30fps, which looks (& plays) completely ass on a modern TV.

I really hope MS ports backwards compatibility somehow to PC and we can play these legally in 4k/60-120fps.
If you rip your own disc, own a 360/ONE/Series Xbox, and use Xenia-Canary emulator it is legal...

Top of my list is :

Unreal Championship in 4k60
4k60 patch for Unreal Tournament 3
Outrun 2 and C2C
Castlevania Curse of Darkness
Jet Set Radio Future

Yeah I call BS on that, how is the emulator that was used on the Xbox 360 more capable of playing titles than the Xbox One implementation? The 360 could play half of the original Xbox library. There is no reason they cannot adapt a general purpose emulator that can read discs directly, nothing stopping Sony from doing that either.
