X360 Ghost Recon 3 interview on OXM's DVD:anyone else see it??

Kleegamefan

K. LEE GAIDEN
So on this months OXM DVD they have an interview with Robbie Edwards of Red Storm Entertainment who is the producer of GR3 for the X360.....

OMG I must get this game!!!!!

Just the way he was discribing the game was very exciting....sounds like GR3 will be very cinematic...much moreso than previous Ghost Recon games.....

He said player models would be 20,000 polys and you could have *32* enemies on screen at once!!!

:O

All the Xbox Live enhancements, real-time Satellite intellegence data, deformable level geometry, tons of Special FX....this shit sounds amazing....

I am trying hard not to get too excited about this game because it may fall apart once the game ships but it just sound so good right now.....

Can't wait to get my hands on this badboy :)

38.4 million polygons/sec for characters(assuming 60 frames per second).......

only 461.1+ million poly's to go. Lets do it guys!!!! :D

eh, I'm more excited about Ubi softs new FPS game Killing Day.

Nevertheless as it seems right now, I might give GR3 another try. Never got into the series.

Only 20k polys? eh... can't this be done on current gen hardware?

Not with 32 of them running around at a time....

I am trying to remember what current gen games have characters with that many polys...

I think the old man in SH3 has more polys....

Solid Snake in MGS3 is only about 3000 polys, I think...

In the real-time movies of Resident Evil 4, Leon is ~ 10K polys but is alot less during gameplay...

According to the interview, last gen Ghost Recon games had characters that were about 2,000 polys so this is a 10X jump in detail, AND there can be 32 enemies on screen at once (though he never specified if they were also 20K polys....perhaps only Ghosts have that much detail?)

At any rate, the game sounds really good...

He also talked about how it was easy for Fighting games to have flags and clothing fapping in the wind because there were only 2char. on screen at once, wheras GR3 on X360 will have lots of that stuff but will have alot more on-screen activity than any fighting game...

He also said the smoke would look amazing and several times he said that X360 has so much graphical power it will be hard to tell the differnence between a real photo and a screen shot if seen side by side.....thats what he said, anyway...

He also said the look and feel of GR3 is totally different from previous GRs and will have a more "CNN newsreel"-like look and feel to it...

20,000 polygons per character for a game like this is really, really impressive. I think Onimusha 1/2 characters had 7000-10,000, but the backgrounds were pre-rendered. Fighting games only have 2 players on the screen, so that's an added thing. This is something with 32 enemies at once. Really stellar.

Can't wait to see the juice squeezed out of the next-gen systems by 2008/2009.

I'll believe it when I see it....

So watch some of the gameplay videos and see for yourself. This is the most impressive Xbox 360 title for me, even moreso than Gears of War. Too bad I have no interest in the game but it looks gorgeous.

from what we know so far of the specs. of the next gen. consoles, IMO there is no reason why any of the next gen. consoles shouldn't be able to display 32 ~20,000 polygon characters on screen at the same time..
