Microsofts E3-inbjudan damp ner i brevlådan

Saw this in another thread, though it got kinda buried. My take is they throught the Dreamcast swirl was too neat and pretty.

The name, XBox 360, has been growing on me though. We'll see if a bunch of random circles do too.

It's like one of those seeing-eye puzzle things they used to have at mall kiosks. If you stare at it and cross your eyes, you see a 3d unicorn or something.

seen this before, but it's still like they are trying to physically assault me with the ugly.

and that name makes me cringe every time I hear it. Worst console name of all freakin' time.

My friends at TTB (Crandle):

Xbox 360: CATCHIN' AIR INTO IMAGINATION

I completely agree. I wish they would name it Xbox HD. That sounds SOOO much better and it's probably more marketable as well.

Yeah, XBox HD was what I originally hoped it would end up being. It's simple, keeps with the theme and it doesn't make the Xbox name sound any worse.

Problem with Xbox HD is that it sounds like an addon, not a sequel. And, people might confuse it with HDD. Do we know for fact whether or not it'll have one, then?

I don't subscribe to the whole 'consumers are so fuckin' stupid they couldn't tell it was a new system' thing, but you never know! I've been surprised by worse!

Xbox HD. Or, better yet, Xbox Next.

Check this out. More proof?

Click here and see the ring flash!

"An exclusive Kotaku source has revealed a bevy of facts about the next-generation console set to rock the Xbox world."

"The Xbox 360° will be about winning over gamers of all persuasions, with a customizable look and a kindler, gentler Circle of Light marketing campaign."

"The side of the 360° is dominated by an oversized, back-lit power button called the ring of light,"

oh god, they actually used the slogan: "Amplify Everything: Hit reset on your reality"

Oh God, that's the worst slogan I've ever heard...

what are you doing, Microsoft!?

Oh thank goodness I don't play names and slogans because if I did I'd reject it outright. You better make up for it by showing awesome Perfect Dark Zero and Burnout 4 demos.

are they following up on Sega plans or what?

sega dreamcast use swirling circles, xbox 360 uses swirling circles.
sega dreamcast launches a year early than competition, xbox 360 does the same.

so why is everyone calling microsoft plans better when the Sega did the same with the dreamcast?!

No...

Amstrad GX4000 wins hands down.

Also ugliest...

I agree with the ugly comment, and Amstrad GX4000 is a shitty name. But I still think Xbox 360 is infinitely worse. It's even worse because it feels like it was made by a corporate meeting filled with 50 somethings where they thought they were going to be edgy and cool by using the number 360. "360? Snowboarding? Skateboarding? All the kids are doin' it these days. Shit, it can even have design implications! That's totally a Revolution!" The slogan confirms this thought. It's so, so bad. It's such an obtuse American sensibility, and not in the good way.

Amplify Everything??

Hit Reset on Your Reality???

Who the hell came up with these?!? Contestants on "The Apprentice?"

It's true. I can f-cking HEAR Trump spewing this shit in my head.

Is it still too late for April Fools?

I'm gonna cringe hearing the commercials, I know it.

It's the same thing!

:lol

Why do these consoles need symbols? I would prefer just the logo that includes the name or an abbreviation of the name. As a consumer, I can vividly recall what the NES, SNES, and Genesis signage was. I'm pretty sure those machines didn't have symbols.

'Ring of Light', Xbox 360 and that hideous logo all make me cringe, whoever said it's like something off The Apprentice fucking nailed it.

'Ring of Light' is the worst offender; PLEASE BE FAKE, OH GOD.

in the flash site the whole theme is green and white ... plus the xbox logo is white ... more proof that the console is white?

... said it before and ill say it again, microsoft looks to be trying to become apple designwise ... and their not doing a good job ... yet ... we'll see

The swirly design is obviously not the logo. Sheesh.

The flash animation ends with a simple green circle, which is probably what it's going to be.

The slogans are probably just for the conference.

*prays the swirl isn't the logo*

*prays the slogans are just for the confernence*

It should be a Large X and a (numerical)power 360, X to the 360th power.

Same for Nintendo Revolution if used, should be a large R and a power N with circle around it or N5.

Seriously, why do people get so worked up over a logo or slogan? Who really cares? I thought Playstation reminded my of Playschool/Fisher Price when I heard it, but I didn't think twice about it...what the hell difference does it make?

Games sell systems, not logos or slogans. They could call it Xbox Potato Salad and people would still want to play the next Halo.

this is a thread where we're discussing the logos and slogans. We discuss whether we like them or dislike them.

This is why we're talkin' about it. Stop actin' like it's some overreaction. The logo and slogan sucks ass, and I don't want it to be the name of a system I am going to buy. I'm still going to buy the system, but this is what we're discussing now.

Maybe because they're completely superficial? Sega was already reeling in 1999, MS isn't. DC had lousy 3rd party support, MS doesn't. Sega had poor momentum coming off the Saturn, MS has good momentum off the Xbox. BUT OH NOES! THE CONSOLE IS WHITE, COMING OUT FIRST AND IT USES A RING LOGO!! 360 AM DOOMED!!!1one!!

Jesus on a fucking bike this board is stupid some days.

You're going to have to say it when you go to buy it. :lol

Clerk: Can I help you?

Amir0x: I'd like an Xbox 3... an Xbox 3... uh, the new Xbox.

Clerk: I'm sorry, but you have to say the name. That's our policy.

Amir0x: @#&!

"Hit reset on your reality."

It sounds like they're telling us to commit suicide. :(

Yep...when I first heard Playstation, the only thing that came to my mind was some sort of Edu-tainment system...most system names have the intial "wtf?" factor, until the quality of the games and the system overshadow the name, then it's just a name.
