Speaking in a new interview with Variety, Spencer reiterated his intention to support Switch 2, stating that he was "a big believer in what Nintendo means for this industry".

"We've been supporting Switch 1, I want to support Switch 2," he said. "Nintendo has been a great partner. We think it is a unique way for us to reach players who aren't PC players, who aren't players on Xbox. It lets us continue to grow our community of people that care about the franchises that we have, and that's really important for us to make sure we continue to invest in our games.

"I'm really a big believer in what Nintendo means for this industry and us continuing to support them. And getting the support from them for our franchises, I think, is an important part of our future."

Asked if Nintendo's unveiling made him "antsy" to share Xbox's own next-gen hardware plans, Spencer said he was focused on "our communities and the player base that we're building."

"I get inspired by what a lot of different creators do and other platform holders," he replied. "But I believe in the plans that we have. Obviously, we're evolving what it means to be Xbox and meeting players in so many different places. There are 3 billion people who play video games on the planet and I get up every morning and think about how Xbox can be more relevant to the 3 billion people who play.

"And that's through making sure we're leading in how our games and our platform features can be available in as many places as possible, whether that's Cloud, whether it's people playing on PC, whether it's people playing on console. So we're really driven by trying to grow our franchises and our platform to be an important part of gaming for as many of those 3 billion gamers as we can reach."

"You went from claiming it was all about giving Xbox players great exclusive games, to being a big supporter of Nintendo and PlayStation. What changed?"
"I'm a big believer in succumbing to my bosses and keeping my job."

I also believe in Nintendo. Maybe Phil is just talking personally. He will buy one or two for his house, and office.

I wonder if they buy some, and MS R&D takes them apart to study them.

"I'm a big believer in Nintendo ! Also I love Sony's Playstation ! And even this third brand... You know, begins with an X... err.. Xtadia !"

I mean they are basically 3rd Party now and Switch 2 will sell a lot of consoles.

Considering MS games at least try to optimize for Series S, Switch 2 ports could be decent.

I'd have the same reaction to any guy who said he's happy his wife stays out all night and comes home disheveled without underwear on because it means she's having fun.

Considering that Xbox went to deadlast under his watch it's pretty much a crime that he, Booty and Greenberg still even have a job.

Sony "retired" Jim Ryan for his fuck ups and they're finally seemingly course correcting.

Nintendo on the otherhard, I feel got too greedy with the Switch. With the tech and size of the node, this could easily have been released two years ago and would likely be in line for a price drop.

Tears of the Kingdom would have been a PERFECT launch title. Now their stuck with all this bad press, tariffs and potentially another Wii U situation (it wont be that bad)

I wish Phil was a big supporter, and believer in Xbox. Like my god, go whip your fuckign studios into shape, stop with these dei disasters, and multiplatform cuckoldry!

It won't be bad at all. Switch 2 is absolutely fine and will be another huge success, even if it comes up a bit short of DS and Switch 1 numbers.
