...and, one more question: how do I go about changing the country in my XBOX profile? I want to set up the X1 for region en-US, and it would only work with an American account, right? So can I change my existing one, or do I have to setup a new one?
all concerns about kinect abuse are legit in my opinion.
if microsoft would not back down and let me detach the kinect from the console, unless I decide differently, then its 100% certain that i wouldnt be aboard this ..train

You just set your region when setting up the console. Your account locale isn't important anymore. But beware that certain apps will be most likely IP restricted and you need a valid payment method for the region you are choosing.
iirc that requirement was dropped. so not every game is required to have a demo and stuff..
about day1, we know of kinect sports and killer instict for sure. anything more than that has to be confirmed..
i would guess though that they wont use the demos they used in demo game pods (2x forza demos, ryse, dr3), because those games where not in their finished state..

My family loves some Kinect games and the TC lists Xbox Fitness, Fighter Within, and small part of Kinect Sports Rival as the only launch Kinect titles. I can't find Xbox Fitness anywhere on retail. Is it digital only? Also which other Kinect titles are coming out anytime soon? Thanks!
Xbox Fitness is preinstalled afaik. If you have Gold you can use it for free until some point in January 2014 - after that you will have to buy a Fitness Pass or something like that.

Man, between XB1 and PS4 I have so much free shit to try.
The payment option is no problem. I just thought the region of your account has to be the same as the region of the console. The more you know...

Ah you're right. The US site is more precise. The German site just says :"From January 15 (I guess they mean 2015?) you will need a fitness pass"

Yeah, if Windows can handle 10's of millions downloading updates at the same time I don't see how Xbox can't handle a million.

Cool, I was wondering what the interface would look like for setting that up.
They outsource Windows Update patch downloads to a 3rd party cloud provider, however - it isn't even in Windows Azure cloud.
Xbox Live is moving entirely to Windows Azure for launch... And they have millions of account logins etc to process (Windows Update doesn't have any of that nonsense).

So far it seems you can only download it and I'd have thought if they had another way it would have come out by now. I tweeted Xbox Support and they just said it'll be available day one with no download information available.
Just going to pray they can cope until I hear otherwise I guess.

Microsoft are not offering this as an option (I asked ).
MS has to focus on Azure and Live staying online, otherwise the consoles are bricks - no service without update.

It's actually interesting - after E3 Sony got massively positive press over 'No to DRM', no online requirement etc. But if you look at the problems PS4 customers are seeing (can't start games, PS3 movie purchases not available, PSN error messages in middle of games, can't use sub accounts properly etc) they're online DRM related. Sony got positive press for something they've seriously goofed up, and the press has largely ignored it. If Xbox Live fails, the press will have a field day.

Has anything big launched in the last few years that hasn't had big problems at the start? I'll be very surprised if there aren't widespread problems with Xbox Live this weekend.
game is not rushed, but some points should be cut from score because of not-so-consumer-friendly dlc policy for the core.
still will be the greatest averaging game on metacritic out of everything launch, and the highest scoring nextgen racing game (until a new forza or a nextgen gt launches) and for good reason too 8)
Seeing how the PSN Network was a mess with only 1 millions new hardware I hope MS has taken notes. XBlive has always been a superior service hope it stay the same for the current gen. Diablo 3 / Guild Wars 2 i've suffer enough from day one launch.
